Nice site but dog walk worst we have come across, tiny.... abuts the childrens play area with metal chain link type of fence an accident waiting to happen .
This is a typical CC site clean with all the facilities expected. It is tucked out of the way far from any shops or pubs......... although this is a good thing. The television reception is spasmodic so best to use a satellite dish. More than a ten minute walk to the sea but pretty journey all the same.
Having set up after our arrival we sat out in glorious sunshine for lunch and the afternoon, despite it being the middle of October. However, our peace was broken by the endless grass cutting which wardens seem to love to do. We appreciate they have to do it while the weather is dry but we seem to find this to be a daily habit at all Caravan Club sites, large or small.
Having been here before we were surprised with the unhelpfulness of the wardens.
Having been caught in unexpected traffic (out of season) we called ahead to say we would be arriving after 8pm (8.45). Last time this happened, they were happy for us to knock at Reception and let us in but this time we had to camp on the waiting area outside the gates and we were told they would not allow latecomers onto site. After an exhausting 5 hour journey and a week at work this was not what we wanted to hear, but politely accepted.
The next morning we got up with the dogs at 6am and then went back to bed as it was too early to come on site. We were then awoken by a knock at our door wanting us to move off the waiting area! Not a good start to our break!!
We then requested to stay a couple of hours later on the Sunday so we could enjoy a longer walk on the beach before leaving and were told no because they were expecting to be full up. At this point there were at least 12 spaces on our area alone and lots more around the site. We asked again Sunday morning because the site was nowhere near full and were told 2 hours extra only. Then at 1:56 the warden was walking round to check we had packed up! We felt very unwelcome and disappointed that we were made to feel like this. Noise from nearby site was slightly annoying and toilet blocks in need of some TLC, although they were clean. We won't be returning to this site again.
Lovely site. Facilities very clean & warm. Staff very friendly & helpful. Only downside is locality to nearest pub & shops. Didn't bother ourselves as we cycled into Burnham via Berrow.
Very peaceful site large pitches. Easy to park up and a lovely friendly welcome . The guy from the office went well beyond the call of duty to help us .
Over all still a pretty decent site. More than a third of it was closed for renovation we were told, but we couldn't use this large area to walk dogs, pity as there was no work going on. Unusually here, if your silly enough to leave your shower stuff out (like me) it doesn't get put away for safety until you claim it, rather it get left out in the open so people can help themselves, and guess what, they do! Looks a bit tired now and the noise from the tannoy at the holiday camp down the road is invasive and detracts from the beauty of the site. The dog walk as has already been said is a bit of a joke, but the nearby beech is excellent and not dangerous at all so long as you keep away from the low tide line. You can take your vehicle on to the beech free of charge between October and April if you can't walk very well. Certainly worth a visit and seems to be a popular "stop off" point between west and east and all points north.
This is a wonderful site, and well maintained, gives the feeling of calm.
Wardens are really good and friendly.
The site is well posioned for walks as well as for visiting places of interest.
We stayed here in April this year. We were a day late due to bad weather but the staff were brilliant. They took time to talk to the children and give then tourer explorer magazines. The site was very quite. The showers were clean and tidy as you come to expect from Caravan club. The children play area was ample however my children were disappointed as they could see the neighbouring sites play area through the trees and it had considerably more equipment. The site was good for the beach and the local attractions. There was not a specific cycle route but I found a number of roads that were ok for cycling on if your a nervous cyclist. It is a site we would visit again.
