been a club member for many years this is the first time I have been disappointed. the site staff [men] were aggressive and unpleasant and at first I wasn't complaining just checking in, one of the women couldn't care less with a later issue about wi-fi. The other younger lady was very good when I dealt with her. The site does not come near the clubs general standards but the toilet blocks were clean
Have just returned home from Hunters Moon. The site is well positioned. Quiet, excellent facilities, and very helpful Wardens. Location can be everything, and the site is well positioned for many places. Dorset has many small market towns as well as the resort of Bournemouth. Swanage is delightful, and a visit to Tyneham, the lost village, is a must.
All in all, a lovely well situated and easy to get to site. I will come again.
A return trip for us and we were greeted by the assistant wardens and immediately made to feel completely at home. We were guided to the best pitch for our needs and, having stayed here before, knew that the site would be top notch. It's literally flawless with the site staff keeping everything ship-shape at all times. A perfect site in a perfect location with excellent staff. Well done all. :)
Hunters Moon is easy to find from A35, A31, A350. A short drive from Wareham, which is a nice, small historic town. Well positioned for nice beaches (e.g. Studland), Arne nature reserve, history (Cordero Castle), seasidey towns such as Swanage and lots more.
Site is up to the excellent standard you expect from CAMC. Nice friendly staff, shower blocks immaculate.
Only downside for us was lack of public transport and it is a longish walk through forest and Sika Trail to Wareham. A good 40-45 mins. You wouldn’t want walk on the road.
Overall we had a very nice stay here.
This is an excellent site which is very easily accessible. The welcome was friendly and all the facilities were in great condition.
Unfortunately the printed site information leaflet, and the one on the website have two very bad mistakes on the "Visiror's Top Tips" section.
"Take the steam railway from Wareham to Swanage" - Not possible as the steam trains run only between Norden (about 4.5 miles from Wareham) and Swanage. It is proposed that a service will run between Wareham and Swanage this summer, but that will be diesel driven.
"It's worth walking to the top of Golden Top, it's the highest point on the coast" This is particularly misleading! It appears as if one can walk out of the site and ascend "Golden Top". GOLDEN CAP is indeed the highest point on the South coast of England but it is 36 miles from Hunter's Moon between Chideock and Morecombelake. It is roughly between 2 AS sites at Bridport Binghman Grange and Wood Farm, Charmouth. Other sites much closer are at East Fleet, Weymouth, Crossways and even Smedmore House.
A short break (2 nights) and site was just about perfect. Intended to visit the Flying Scotsman at Swanage Railway, but it was sold out! Can't blame the Site.....!!
A very nice place to stay and the staff are cheerful and helpful.and the facilities spotless.
Will definately be back
We chose Hunters Moon because it was near the railway. Useful for us this time to visit for the Flying Scotsman. We have stayed before with family and found it to be easy to find, near to lots of facilities, walks, Corfe Castle, seaside and lots more, also a lovely site to stay on. Quiet, clean good for families and dogs. Level pitches, plenty of room. Clean toilet and shower blocks. Good staff, making sure all is ok but not in your face. We like it very much and will stay again when we come back for our next visit.
Stayed here for a short 3 night stay in February, a nice welcome and quick and easy check in. The site itself is well laid out, clean and tidy, the facilities were spotless although one toilet block was closed for the duration of our stay due to maintenance, this is completely understandable.
The area has a wealth of attractions and three days is not long enough to visit them all, so we will gladly return. In line with other reviews we do not understand the comments about road noise we found it very quite.
Eating out is very good, particular mention should be made of "The Silent Woman" pub about half a mile from the site and the "Italian Kitchen" in Wareham, both were excellent.
Definitely 5*
What a gem of a site. We had a short 3 night getaway in January. The site was quiet and peaceful. The dog walk on site is fantastic, gated and fenced off so very safe for a good run of a bit off ball time. The wardens are helpful and friendly but never intrude on your privacy. The shower and toilet blocks were immaculate. The location is brilliant for forest walks (direct from site ) but we choose to go to studland beach which is only a 20 minute drive. Will definitely be back again. 5*
My Husband and I have been here many times, its one of our favourite Caravan club sites. Everything was up to its usual high standard. There is always lots to do and see from this site and plenty of nice eating out places nearby.
My only negative comment this year was that the nine nights we stayed the barrier was not working, we watched motorhomes arriving after dark pitching up and then departing before the office opened, obviously not paying for their pitch.
