We stayed for a week in early September 2019. The site has many trees, and is by and large level throughout, save for the large area for tents with adjoining open space and fenced dog exercise field at the southern part of the site. We had a splendid welcome when checking in, and soon selected an attractive pitch. A key card for the gate is needed to get into the site, but not for exit. There are two amenity blocks, both immaculately clean. The block near the western boundary features Radio 2 broadcasts, while the block to the east is silent.
We had a very good meal at the Public House "The silent Woman" (just south of the site) and can recommend it.The nearby Wareham Forest is a real gem - with marked trails and wonderful heathland scenery.
Wareham is a great little town; its two supermarkets can meet all your culinary needs. Free on-street parking is available in North Street (1 hour).
.All the attractions of Purbeck: Corfe, Swanage, Studland etc. are short travelling times away from the site, and we found Brownsea Island (just a little farther to go) to be a superb day out. All in all, we would certainly not hesitate to return to this site.
This was our first visit to a Caravan and Camping Club site and we were very pleased with what we found. Staff were helpful on arrival and were fine after we decided to change to a grass pitch after our first night on a hard standing one.
There is a small shop on site with some lovely fresh cakes baked each day and some other essentials. The dog walking area is fenced in which is great if you are a dog owner as no chance of losing the dog!
The facilities were really well maintained and the showers and toilet block clean. There was also a small launderette and you can access the forest path directly from the site.
We opted for the grassed area which as we felt a bit closed in on the hard standing pitches but this was our personal choice. Lots of places to visit around the area. Only reason I ave the peace and quiet a 4 star rating instead of five as per all the others was the little tractor mower which seemed to be driving around about 0845 most mornings before some people were up and about.
Would come here again.
This was our 3rd stay on this site with our two grandchildren, who once again loved it and actually asked if they could come back for a 3rd time!
All staff were very friendly and most helpful, especially Graham and his colleague who came to the rescue when our daughter and partner arrived to camp over the August bank holiday. He’d unfortunately forgotten the key to the roof luggage box. The two helpful wardens drilled the locking mechanism enabling the box to be opened and saving my daughters partner from driving back to Worcester or buying a new box and more importantly saved from a good telling off!! Thank you Graham & colleague (sorry we failed to get your name).
The weather was superb during the whole of our stay. Therefore we spent most days at Studland beaches. Grandchildren wanted nothing more, and of course that included a picnic.
Visited Corfe Castle which we all enjoyed....again.
A lovely memorable holiday with lots of fun and giggles. Oh and lovely friendly neighbours.
Hope to be back next year.
Nice site - had been before. Toilets/showers clean but a lot of insects inside - who wants 2 mating moths above you when you’re showering. They were still there the next day, but gone the day after - thankfully. Site states WiFi poor - it’s awful but you can’t even use your own data! Surely the club can improve on this! We had to put up a windbreak to stop adults walking right past our door through our pitch to cut across to theirs! How lazy and rude! Also, caught a child riding their bike through. How can we expect kids to do the right thing when some of the adults don’t! We didn’t let this spoil our stay but would advise to arrive as early as poss to get good pitch!
Arrived after a long trip, staff friendly on arrival, explained where pitches were available so when we found the pitch to let them know and you then get the tag for the gate. Showers and toilets always clean and tidy, bins etc were emptied on a regular basis. Great places to visit in the area, Wareham as lots of eating places, The Silent Woman pub which is just down the road from site was lovely, would recommend the Salmon it was awsome.
Would return in the future.
Hunters moon is a lovely site, pitches are mostly hard standing, with some grass pitches also, and areas are separated with trees and hedges to give a more intimate feel to the site. It has a good play ares, and a safe enclosed field for dog exercising. The site has two shower/toilet blocks, both spotless, and a private gate to Wareham forest, ideal for walkers and four legged friends. Wareham is a good town to visit, two small supermarkets and many independent shops, and areas of interest, plus scenic spots such as Durdle door are within easy reach. The site is on a busy road so some noise is expected but is well worth a visit.
A word about the wardens. We had a couple of problems (of our own making) and they were all superb in helping us. What could have been a stressful week was anything but, all due to the wardens friendly advice and practical help, they are a real asset to the club.
On arrival, staff were unfriendly and short, not a good start having had a long journey. However this was the only negative. Other staff were very friendly and helpful, everything clean and tidy. Electric cut was dealt with well. Great location for a number of National Trust places.
The local pub, The Silent Woman, we visited at lunchtime and evening provided fabulous meals and service, great value for money. Can recommend the ploughmans lunch, salmon fillet and homemade steak and mushroom pie!
This is a lovely site, clean, well kept and friendly staff with a good dog walking field. However, mobile signal for most networks are abysmal, and the on site payable wifi is shocking. When I spoke to the wardens and mentioned a maximum speed of 0.6mbps I was told that's good! Our biggest problem was the herds of unchecked children on bikes who used the sites roads as a racetrack during the early evening when the wardens had finished. During the day, a lively peaceful site, but horrendous after 6pm.
My caravan charger failed the warden's were very helpful they came and checked with a metre and and they found the charger wasn't working the helpfully took it away the battery and charged it for me it is amazing how many things work off the battery
Nice site with clean facilities.
Wardens extremely helpful and friendly - My husband was suffering with mobility issues & let us access pitch early, offered help & checked if we were okay during our stay. Thank you.
