Awful experience

Booked this site based on good reviews. However, this is by far the worst site we have visited this year. We decided to leave early. Having booked a serviced pitch and paid a bit more we were disappointed to find ourselves alongside the entrance/exit barriers and within 20 metres of a 50mph busy road. The site seems to have a big daily turnover in incomings and exits. Toilet block was inadequate and in the mornings prior to cleaning was dirty. I saw a few wardens but in my opinion not very friendly or engaging. The Wi-Fi - apparently Silver level - was useless but to be fair I'm finding the Wi-Fi across all the Club sites I've visited as a bit of a joke, given IT technology available in this Country. One big positive was the Dog walking area where dogs could socialise with other dogs and owners with owners. Final gripe is that a bunch of blokes (Tradesmen) moved in nearby with their works van and caravan - worked all day and 'played' till late - keeping us awake until 2am. Doesn't seem acceptable to me.. Won't be going back.

Such a shame.

Such a shame we had to cut short this holiday because of the constant noise coming from the "Council Run" site next door, with motor bikes/quad bikes/cars being rallied around their site all day every day, you could not even read a paper because of it, it was crazy! The Wardens did their best to try to stop it and left a note in the information shed to tell everyone what was going on and they had complained to the Council about it. Not the Wardens fault as they did a great job at everything else and were very good and nice to talk to but we will not be returning!! Even the noise from the main road seemed to be much louder than last year with large trucks thundering past the site at 50 mph at times very early in the morning, and we were pitched further away from the road than last year? Such a shame that this once great and quieter site is being allowed to be spoiled for so many people. Never again!

Good facilities

Came to this site last year with 2 Grandchildren during school summer holidays and decided to do the same again this year. Worked well with so much to do in the Dorset area. We’re National Trust members so a bonus when parking on Studland beaches + other NT car parks. You save pounds! The site is well layed out and kept tidy. Mostly the toilet/ wash blocks were beautifully clean, but on odd occasions caravan/motor home owners had left it in a ‘not so clean’ state. There’s always some that spoil it!! No fault of wardens as they leave the areas scrupulously clean after attending in the mornings. Good information area where there’s a selection of pamphlets to pick up of things to do in the area. The site is safe for the children to ride their bikes/scooters. Play area ok ish. Found some children don’t have manners! But that’s not the fault of the site!! On the whole the site is peaceful, however we did experience loud noise at times in evenings from the travelers site next door, which we weren’t aware of! Noise from Motorcycles, loud banging and barking dogs. Thankfully it didn’t go on all night. The wardens work very hard to keep a high standard. However my only criticism is they come across at times regimental and abrupt. Managed to get a pitch in the shade during the hot weather. A good number of pitches do have the bonus of trees for shade.

Perfect for a ferry

The wardens worked very hard on this site especially as it was full every day of our stay. The site was a credit to them. They facilties were always clean and so was the site. Not a site I would use for a holiday though. It was mostly one nighters who used it to catch early ferries the following day. Most morning were were disturbed about 5.30 /6am with people packing up and going to catch their ferry. We had very little choice of a pitch as it was full. We picked hard standing over the grassed area. The grass area had very little space and the vans looked hemmed in. Could I suggest that people who use the site for one night to catch ferries be in a specific area, it would be more restful to people like us using the site for a holiday

A great stay

I was only here as my Mun & Dad live in Bournemouth (only 25 mins drive) & I was testing all my bits & pieces for the family holiday in Italy. But was pleasantly surprised, I dont know why as you know what your getting with the CMC club site but this that one step up!!. Couple of thing to note is that you pretty much need to drive for anything & the road that links to this site is a 50 mph one so care is needed. The wifi is ok, plenty of access points so no problem getting on but to slow to work from there (video & steaming not possible) . Also the vodaphone signal drops to 3g.

Great site

We have just returned from spending 14 nights on this site and cannot recommend it enough. The wardens are friendly and helpful and keep the facilities spotless. A lovely bonus are the delicious cakes and scones baked daily by the warden. We will return.

Great memories, great people!

My family and I returned yesterday from a fantastic week stay at Hunters Moon. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and the residents staying on the site, who seemed to take a shine to our 2 year old daughter! The site itself was very well maintained every day. The facilities were spotless; from the shower rooms and toilets to the baby bathroom and laundry room. Help was on hand if we needed it from the staff. The scones, cream and jam were delicious from the onsite shop! The location was great and we were able to head down to Studland. I'm still reeling from the £27 paid for three fish and chips by the beach. We would have been quite happy with everything going in some paper 'old school';as per a normal beach front fish & chips shop. Be prepared to pay £3 for a vanilla ice cream cone and flake if you make your way to or from Studland. What happend to Mr Whippy's 99p cones? All in all we didn't want to leave and we will certainly return to Hunters Moon in the future as it really was a great stay and thank you to those we got to know during our stay!

Peace and quiet

Have just spent a week at this lovely site set in the Purbeck Hills. The site is immaculate and the wardens work very hard keeping grass and bushes trimmed back for comfort. The toilet blocks are very well kept and spotless. There were lots of dogs on site with very responsible owners, who always kept their dogs on leads. The site is in a good area for cycling and a couple of miles into the town of Wareham, with a couple of small supermarkets, fish and chips shops and very popular pub on the river Frome. The river gives pleasure to many kayakers, boat cruises and river walks. There are many small shops in Wareham High Street to explore and the main traffic is directed away on a bypass. The "Breezer" bus can be picked up by the train station and you can travel to Swanage and Poole and enjoy one of the scenic routes of the Purbeck Hills and countryside. The scones made by the wardens on site are delicious. We will be back!

An enjoyable stay

What a great site this is but beware you may put on weight as one of the wardens makes very tasty scones and cakes every day! The site was tidy, clean and everything you expect a CC site to be, a little bit of road noise and we were practically next to the road but it didn't spoil our enjoyment. A wonderful dog walk (we have three Dalmatians) and the bonus was the gate directly onto the forest. Good place to stay for all the local attractions Dorset has to offer. We have been caravanners for years but had decided to hire a motor home to see how we liked it, the cake making warden was most helpful in explaining where to park in Wareham which was brilliant, also told us about the quay which has two pubs and an Italian. We went to The Granary and sat outside with our dogs although they would have been allowed in the bar area, if you go try the fish and chips the best outside of Padstow we have experienced. We shall definitly go back but probably in our caravan.

Relaxed weekend away

We arrived at Hunters Moon late Friday afternoon. Staff were absolutely delightful throughout the weekend. The site was beautifully maintained, shower block & facilities spotless. Pitches nice and spacious. The site is easy to find and perfectly placed to visit many of the surrounding places of interest. Wareham Quay market was handy to visit on Saturday morning, fresh crab & pastries for later. Corfe Castle just a 15 min drive at most and worth the visit for the lovely walks. Kimmeridge bay has lovely views but next time must check tide tables so we can make the most of fossil hunting possibilities. The site it self has handy dog walks, we would definitely visit again. Thanks again to the staff that make these weekends as pleasant as they are.
