One of the best but.....

Great site with wonderful views from some pitches. Bus-stops at the entrance with frequent services to Kingswear, Brixham & Paignton, beware that they stop running in the early evening. Great wardens and facilities. Would have rated this site 5 star had it not been for the diabolical wifi service!

hillhead holiday

We had a problem before we left home and as a result I rang the wardens and explained that we would not meet the arrival time and was told not to worry. This helpful attitude was very prevalent right through the time we were there. In the sites book it says levelling blocks may be required, they are definitely needed on most of the grass pitches and on one or two we had insufficient height to get level. We found a pitch and all was well from then. We visited the club for one meal only so not in a position to comment on facilities there but the site in general is great and I would have no hesitation on recommending it based on our time there.

Holiday at Hillhead

Hello we have just spent 5 nights at this site. In our opinion the site is definitely better for knowing, the pitching areas were all over the place around the site and down cul de sacs, it is very hilly with 2 toilet blocks which were immaculate. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. We were at the bottom of the site and the TV reception was poor, plugging the aerial into the EHU bollards made no difference. We went to this area to meet relatives, but would not go back. We attended the Nico's Bistro on 2 occasions, first time for the Sunday carvery, I stood in the queue for 45 mins, during which time our deserts arrived, so they were sent back, on arrival at the servery they had run out of beef and half the vegetables, I complained the following day saying that they should have a booking system in place so they know how many people are attending instead of just turning up. On the second occasion we attended at lunch time and on arrival we were the only people there, and we ordered fish and chips which came in a basket, the fish was in batter and was well overcooked in fact it was brittle and brown, very disappointing, on the plus side the staff that we spoke to were very nice. Would we re attend the Bistro for another meal honestly no.

Lovely Site

Overall this is a lovely site with great facilities, like the pool and bar and friendly helpful wardens. We enjoyed lovely weather during our 5 night stay and the views are stunning from the play field and dog walk. I do feel that the small loo block on the top field needs cleaning more often as many people were using it and it got quite unpleasant but the other block was fine, with excellent showers etc. Other than that small negative, we had a great time and would definitely recommend it and will go again.

Another great visit

We have stayed at Hillhead on many occasions over the years. It meets all the standards that you would expect from a club site and the toilet/shower facilities are no exception. It is a busy site and one of the few club sites with licenced restaurant/bar/club, shop & pool facilities set to the side of the site so if these are not for you, you will not be disturbed by them. There is a mixture of mostly hard standings and some grass. The site itself is hilly but pitches are mainly level. Good play area for the kids and a nice secure dog exercise field. Plenty of water and bin points. As the area is very hilly and the roads narrow, cycling from the site isn't recommended unless you are experienced (and fit). There is a bus stop outside the site with regular buses to Brixham, Kingswear (for Dartmouth) and the rest of Torbay.  Our only gripe with Hillhead (and it seems to happen here more than other sites) is that whenever we have visited there are always a number of idiots who think that the 5mph speed limits should be ignored. More speed restrictions needed, especially outside the play area and shop.

Second visit

Was a little apprehensive when first visiting this site as it had more facilities than most sites, but this did not affect at all the enjoyment of this site. The location is amazing with great views over the sea, you hardly realise that you are just around the corner from Torbay. The regular bus service gives good links to trains, and ferries as well as the Torbay resorts. It is easy to stay here and not move the motorhome off the site. Therefore had no hesitation in rebooking this site, and will definitely come here again. The staff and the facilities are first class, they typify what the club is all about, great service in great locations. I have already recommended this site to my friends who caravan/motorhome as a must go to site. Thank you very much to the Hillhead Team, keep up the excellent work that you do.

Anniversary week

Our first time at Hillhead. Location and facilities excellent. Wardens were very friendly and helpful, always smiling. Restaurant food was very good value for money, and we were lucky to be able eat within an area where our dog was able to celebrate our anniversary with us. Will definitely be going back
