Holiday at Hillhead
Hello we have just spent 5 nights at this site. In our opinion the site is definitely better for knowing, the pitching areas were all over the place around the site and down cul de sacs, it is very hilly with 2 toilet blocks which were immaculate. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. We were at the bottom of the site and the TV reception was poor, plugging the aerial into the EHU bollards made no difference. We went to this area to meet relatives, but would not go back. We attended the Nico's Bistro on 2 occasions, first time for the Sunday carvery, I stood in the queue for 45 mins, during which time our deserts arrived, so they were sent back, on arrival at the servery they had run out of beef and half the vegetables, I complained the following day saying that they should have a booking system in place so they know how many people are attending instead of just turning up. On the second occasion we attended at lunch time and on arrival we were the only people there, and we ordered fish and chips which came in a basket, the fish was in batter and was well overcooked in fact it was brittle and brown, very disappointing, on the plus side the staff that we spoke to were very nice. Would we re attend the Bistro for another meal honestly no.

Lovely Site
Another great visit
We have stayed at Hillhead on many occasions over the years. It meets all the standards that you would expect from a club site and the toilet/shower facilities are no exception. It is a busy site and one of the few club sites with licenced restaurant/bar/club, shop & pool facilities set to the side of the site so if these are not for you, you will not be disturbed by them. There is a mixture of mostly hard standings and some grass. The site itself is hilly but pitches are mainly level. Good play area for the kids and a nice secure dog exercise field. Plenty of water and bin points. As the area is very hilly and the roads narrow, cycling from the site isn't recommended unless you are experienced (and fit). There is a bus stop outside the site with regular buses to Brixham, Kingswear (for Dartmouth) and the rest of Torbay. Our only gripe with Hillhead (and it seems to happen here more than other sites) is that whenever we have visited there are always a number of idiots who think that the 5mph speed limits should be ignored. More speed restrictions needed, especially outside the play area and shop.
