Quiet time of year

I had a relaxing weekend at Hillhead last weekend. The pitches are spacious and the views wonderful. Although it's a big site it feels quite private with the hedging around the pitches. The facilities are excellent and it's nice to have a cafe on site for a change although the vegetarian food wasn't great. Staff were friendly and neighbours pleasant. It's a great location to explore that part of Devon with lots of attractions nearby and a bus passing by regularly. It wouldn't suit me in school holidays (I'm a teacher) but its one of my favourite bolt holes during term time. Shame it's not open longer out of season.

First time on this site

We tried to book this site last year, but found that it was fully booked for the dates we wanted. having been there now its easy to see why. The staff were really friendly and helpful from the off and the location between Brixham and Kingsweir is ideally placed for exploring that area. The site is sloped so from most pitches you will get a view of the surrounding countryside or the sea. The onsite bar and restaurant is a great plus should you not want to cook, or just pop up for a beverage or two. Certainly go back.

Christmas at hill head

We spent xmas day here and had the most amazing relaxed, friendliest time, we had the pleasure of being seated with another couple and the wardens for xmas day dinner, and it was just fantastic....the food was amazing and not rushed makin the whole afternoon pleasurable.... It was the first time we have gone away for xmas, and it wont be the last, we are hoping next time to also stay for new year.

In praise of Hillhead

Hillhead is by far the best site we have used. We rejoined the Caravan Club after a break of some years during which time the family was growing up, so we have experienced a number of sites in England and Wales, all of which have been very good. However what sets Hillhead apart is its ability to provide quiet and relatively secluded pitches, but at the same time it can cater for families. Views and location are splendind, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We shall return!

HillHead

Great site to visit. Even though it was November we had a great time. Very quite day and night. The dog walk area was just what I would like to see on every site. Great views. Would like to see the shop open longer and the bar and restaurant open a bit more that just Friday and Saturday night. Would go again.

Quiet stay

Lovely site amazing views very clean we arrived thinking the shop on site would be open but it closes at 12:30 don't know if it was the time of the year so make sure you have enough provisions as nearest shops are two miles away bar only opens Friday and Saturday and closes at ten Christmas decorations were up so that was a bit strange we found bus fare were expensive also taxis into Brixham we were charged nine pounds for a two mile trip staff very helpful and friendly a pleasant stay but not for us

October Mid week

Arriving before 12:00 it was time for a cuppa, sit back and relax. On booking in the staff were very helpful on my first visit to Hillhead. With friends we pitched up on 27 and 28 with nice sea glimpses to set the scene. Site facilities were first class and it was nice and quiet up on our pitches. Regretfully the bar and restaurant were not open and after a few G&T's driving off site was not an option but being a retired Emergency Planning Officer I had provisions. The site has good bus links to Kingswear, Brixham and away to Torquay which is great for those of us with bus passes and the bus is a good way to enjoy the travel. Overall an excellent stay, good facilities and friendly staff. Thanks Alan aka Big A on Tour.

Lovely October break

Lovely October break for 6 nights. Very friendly and helpful wardens. Well kept site with spotless shower and toilet block. Large dog walk area and lovely walk to Mansands beach (takes about an hour each way). Clubhouse reasonably priced with nice bar meals that are generously portioned. Bus stop at site entrance taking you to Kingswear of Brixham. Last bus back from Brixham was 11pm so great if you wanted a change from clubhouse. Only negative was that the toilet block was closed for 2 hours between 10.30 and 12.30. It was the only block available therefore no facilities during the cleaning times. However we will definitely be back.
