Birthday weekend

This was our 1st trip to Four Oaks on 24th march 2017 for two nights and we had a lovely time meeting up with our friends on site. Overall the site is very well looked after and the facilities are spotless, pitches are a good size as usual with club sites, and we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff, ok the noise from the Marlow road is a little noisy at times but that is what you get when you are near busy road and it certainly didn't stop us from sleeping. On the Saturday we walked into Henley for a bit of sight seeing and shopping and also for a meal for my Birthday at the Catherine Wheel (Wetherspoons)Pub.The pathway alongside the road could really do with some attention from the council as the tarmac path is being encroached upon by all the dead leaves and soil, which makes it quite narrow in places. We really enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely return soon.

New Year at Henley!

We visited this site along with a friend and her dog at the end of December. Both families in motorhomes. What a lovely site. The wardens were very pleasant, helpful and friendly. We were aware that the site was just off a main road and under a flight path but neither bothered us. It's just one of those things!! It's a lovely 15mins walk into Henley along a narrow footpath but even with two dogs each (and 5 in total) we managed with no problems. Henley is a lovely town with a variety of shops and eating places. We would highly recommend the Chocolate Shop for a hot chocolate - just a few varieties to choose from! Lovely walks along the river in both directions. The site and facilities are of the normal Caravan Club standard with a small children's play area. TV reception is poor so you do need a TV aerial lead. There is also a small secure dog area where dogs can be safely let off the lead. Red Kites can be seen around the area This was the first time we had been away for New Years Eve and it was a pleasant surprise to find that the wardens had put on a small buffet with drinks for anyone who wanted to join them on the afternoon. A lovely gesture! Thank you!

Pleasant setting, good facilities, but oh THAT road!

The site is nicely landscaped, and facilities well maintained, but the very busy, noisy road runs right next to the site. And if you've booked a non-awning pitch, you will be on one of the pitches backing on to the road. Dog owners particularly take note. The 'dog area' on site is just a tiny space for them to do their business, and not a walk. If you want to take your dogs for a walk, and don't wish to drive off-site, you will have to walk for over half a mile along the very narrow pavement with traffic rushing by - it really was quite an ordeal taking my two, and I'm afraid it really put me off using the site again. Henley and the surrounding walks along the river are lovely - it is just getting there and back is a nightmare.

very noisy site

Agree with other reviews that the site is very noisy being so close to the main road. Facilities are clean and staff was helpful. We stayed when site was full and we were given pitch #2 which is next to the office. Actually, if staying on pitch 1 or 2 you feel you are in a late arrival pitch like in any other site.

Short break

0.8 miles outside Henley this site is ideal for taking walks along the Thames . The wardens are very pleasant and helpful and very clean facilities. There is some noise from the road and overhead aircraft at about 6:30 in the morning .

Perfect location to visit our new grandchild!

We couldn't plan the dates of our stay because babies tend to arrive when they are ready. So we were a little perturbed when we checked to see if there was availability and discovered that the site was full. However, our camper was ready, so we took a risk and set off from Sheffield the next morning. A quick phonecall at 9.00 was answered by the lovely warden and we were in luck! There had been a cancellation and we quickly set up our camper, ready to catch the local bus to High Wycombe to greet the new arrival and proud family. Of course our granddaughter is beautiful but we will be eternally grateful to the staff at the Henley site who provided us with the perfect location to enjoy being grandparents. The staff are superb and nothing is too much trouble.

Great Location

Staff were friendly & facilities kept clean. Great location but what let it down was the exceptional road & aircraft noise (plus generator noise from nearby plant) which kept us awake every night. Unless you are lucky enough to get a pitch at the top end of the site, most pitches are near the road. We stayed at the neighbouring private site last year and that was much quieter as set well away from the road. Shame no area for football unless you hire sponge balls. Henley is lovely and from site we took the train from Twyford to Paddington, London which takes 50 minutes and only £14.50 adult off-peak return at weekends & half price for children. Easy access to Marlow & villages Turville & Hambledon, which are famous for a he filming of The Vicar of Dibley, Midsomer Murders, Goodnight Mr Tom & on the hill the village of Ibstone where you can see the original windmill used in the 1960's film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The local pub in Turville, Bull & Butcher, is amazing -  staff & food but need to book at the weekend. Also close by, Windsor, High Wycombe & Reading. If you want fish & chips, go to Smarts on the Henley Road. Henley has a Waitrose & Tesco. Walkable to Henley main town from site.

GREAT TIME WAS HAD.

We stayed on the site for 3 nights (19-22 Oct 2016). we had a great time. The welcome by the wardens and the advice where to pitch was excellent, we had been to the site before a few years ago, so we had a good idea what it was like. I have marked the site down for Peace and Quiet - this is only because it is near a main road as advised in the Caravan Club book. I have marked it down good for families, as the grass had been re-sown and we were told to keep off -- some people unfortunately cannot read. however, if you have a dog you either have to be great at long jump or walk over it. The remainder was great, we walked into Henley with a great deal of shops to choose from, we found a couple of very pleasant coffee shops with cake. Overall excellent, so much so we will be back in November.
