Great walking location

A lovely site at a great location.  Clean, tidy, just 5 mins walk to Hawes that has so much to offer. Just minutes walk from footpaths that lead you onto the Penine Way or a 30min walk to a local waterfall, which even at £2.50 payment was worth it.  (Families could spend a couple of hours or more there with picnic facilities and a cafe and pub). Great games room with TV, table pool and table tennis (take own bats etc or hire)  Great field for ball games, though on a hill. Toilet block is looking a little dated but only when compared to all the latest facilities on some other club sites, but kept clean and tidy by wardens so no issues there. Do visit the creamery. Will return again.

Helpful Wardens

Wardens very friendly, even suggesting which of the remaining available pitches we may like and why, not had that before without asking for it. Walking distance into Hawes, busy, traditional with quite a few pubs and eating places. Wonderful 'James Herriot' countryside all around the area and I was thrilled to see all the RAF practice runs through the Dales.

One of our favourites.

Have stayed here a number of times and it remains one of our favourites, fantastic area, lovely site and friendly helpful wardens, internet a bit dodgy at times and for some reason no radio reception except through TV system. Great walking as you would expect of the dales and we are already talking of a return visit.

First visit to Hawes site did not dissapoint.

We visited for just two days over a week end in mid August and though full the site copes well. The wardens were very friendly and helpful, sorting out our neighbours who, pitching before us had not left us a hook up available, almost instantly!!!There were problems with water supplies but these were well notified the previous day and did not impinge on the early peak period. The amenity blocks have a slightly unusual layout suggesting that they may be a little older than most, but they were never less than immaculate during our stay. The site is perfectly located with a short walk into Hawes.Though the site is larger than our preferred size of site,we neverthe less enjoyed our stay.

Excellent first visit

This was our first visit after hearing such good things about it from others. Well, what a great site. Friendly wardens, clean, quiet and a location to die for. Close to the village so easy to walk into for a beer after a day walking or a driving. Excellent circular walks from the site to suit all needs. We took our 2 cockers and this site has the best dog walk ever on site. We will certainly be returning   :-)

Just a little disappointed

lovely site and nice wardens. disappointed that there was no security (no barriers). we chose a pitch which we couldnt get level (motorhome) although a caravan managed. showers were ok, but the reason we were disappointed was the water and hot water being off for a large part of the day. first all the water was off for ages, followed by a problem with the boiler resulting in no hot water. In a hotel, we would have expected a discount, but none was offered. it would have been a nice gesture to offer give the length of time it was off. walking to town was around 1/2 mile and to the cheese factory about a mile from the site. excellent pubs in the town. games room requires 20p x 2 for each machine so come prepared.

The centre of the dales

This is our third visit to this site although we have not been here for quite a few years so we were very pleased to see that the dog walk which use to run round a large field (becoming very muddy in wet weather) has been enlarged to include the field which is very well maintained. The site itself is divided into two halves for us the half where the toilet block is situated worked out best as there were some really nice pitches with grassed areas behind. There are a fair number of blue peg only pitches ideal for a motor home (of which there were many) but not so good if you have a caravan and want to erect an awning. The site is ideally situated for a short walk into Hawes and provides a really good base for further more extensive walks. On a negative note we did not find the relief wardens particularly friendly
