Beautiful location

Stayed for 2 nights in October and going back for 5 nights end of October.  Beautiful clean site and very friendly wardens.  Short walk into Hawes town which is lovely and sells the best fish and chips ever!!! Our 2 boys loved the games room which is great with the dark nights cutting in.  The best dog walk ever and its on site!! I did get quite angry our first morning... Someone actually let their dog foul right outside the door of the ladies toilet/shower block.  Being a members only site really shocked me that someone could do this and not pick up.  Even my two boys were disgusted... As if the wardens don't have enough to do.  I have always brought my sons up to respect peoples privacy and never cut through peoples pitches. I did notice a few Adults doing this taking a short cut to the toilet block.  The following day the warden actually erected a fence, however the (lazies) just bent under it walking straight through the pitches!  Overall lovely location, great walks very impressed.

Wonderful site

We stayed here in September 2015 for 2 wonderful weeks. It was our 5th year here and we can't imagine staying anywhere else, it is our yearly fix! The wardens are lovely, friendly & very helpful. The site and shower block are very clean and the views from the site are beautiful. There are plenty of walks for everyone from the site, be it up into the hills, or a low walk to the next village of Hardraw or into the town of Hawes. There is a lovely dog walk on the site where dogs are able to be let off their leads for a good run around. There was only one fault with the dog run and that was the dog mess that some owners did not clear up after their dogs. This I feel is giving us responsible owners a bad name and I hope that there will never come a time where the caravan club will stop dogs going to their sites. Apart from that Hawes caravan site is to us the best. Looking forward already to our 6th year in 2016.

Lovely site

2nd visit to this well maintained site, this time for 7 nights, with friendly and efficient wardens. Best dog run ever and 10 minutes walk to Hawes and a range of excellent pubs - all dog friendly. One word, however, to all the members who arrived on site at 11.00 - 11.45am - Don't! The wardens have enough to do without dealing with members who think that the earliest arrival time does not apply to them.

Wonderful site

Will echo all of the comments made by Firthlets, this is a truly wonderful site. Sitting in the caravan looking up at the fells truly amazing. Now as for the dog walk, WOW, and what a view a jewel in the clubs crown I'm sure. Our 2 Goldies loved it, rabbits and mice to seek out and all so safely walled in ( the dogs ) Met some lovely like minded folk enjoying the late break, also some friendly dogs too. Smithy and Ellie come to mind. Will be back.

Autumn haven at Hawes

We have just returned from an 11 day stay at Hawes and we have had a superb experience. The site is located so conveniently to the varied shops, pubs and restaurants in this small, but perfectly formed Dales town, we never needed our car at all.  The pitches are well spaced and the facilities spotlessly clean, warm and well appointed. Thank you to the team of highly personable wardens for all their efforts in keeping up the high standards, including the grounds which were resplendent in the Autumn sunshine. The dog walk is a jewel in the crown! Well defined mowed paths through an enormous secure field made walking our Golden retriever, Smithy, a joy! The views from there are epic too, the field and site generally is set in an amphitheatre of fells and sweeping meadows. A fabulous site indeed!

This is why it's God's Own County

First visit here, 2 nights during a week of absolutely perfect autumn weather. The site is up to the usual high CC standards, with helpful staff who keep the place immaculate.Very peaceful, apart from ducks laughing at us all of the time. Tame wild rabbits (if you see what I mean) potter around the site in the evening, and the dog walk is fantastic, with stupendous views over the dale. Hawes is great, with plenty of places to east and drink, and more cheese than you could possibly need, Grommet. Any number of walks are available, highlighted on a local map on sale at reception. Just a 30 min walk across to Hardrow Force and the wonderful George and Dragon, and 10-15 mins into Hawes itself. As Arnie almost said "We'll be back".

Fantastic location

Returned home today after a brilliant week at Hawes. The site is perfectly located, with walks straight from the site, and with easy access by car or bike if you wish to see more of the beautiful dales. We hired electric bikes for an afternoon from a little bike shop in nearby Askrigg. They certainly made it easy to get up those hills where you can really appreciate the views. An easy 10 minute walk into Hawes with its many little shops, cafes, pubs serving great food at sensible prices, and of course, the Creamery where the famous Wensleydale cheese is made. A Dalesbook of vouchers is a bargain buy from the National park visitor centre just round the corner from the site. Use it to get discounts in many local shops and pubs as well as other attractions in the dales. We will definitely go back to Hawes and would recommend it for anyone who loves the outdoors, wonderful scenery, and a real Yorkshire welcome. The site is kept beautifully clean and tidy by the friendly wardens. Thank you, see you again!

Excellent site

this is an excellent site that gets better every time I visit. Lovely location within walking distance of lovely Dales village with lots of good walks and attractions nearby.  Very impressed with the new dog walk, very spacious and kept very clean and tidy. Please don't develop this in the future . Very friendly and helpful wardens and good tv signal without need of site booster.  Excellent wifi from site and good phone signal.  Will be back next year.

Gem Site

Our first visit to this lovely Dales village.  The wardens on site are lovely, can't do enough for you.  The dog walk is fab, with fab views.  We did guite a few walks from the site, it is a walkers paradise, you can walk for ages and not spot anyone.  Another plus for the Caravan Club is that they have two lovely holiday cottages on site.  We found eating out a real treat, the White Hart has a roaring fire, lovely food and a good drink off Porter Ale. The lovely oldie world shops meant that we did a lot of going in them as well. Hope to visit again next year.

Beautiful location.

Hawes is s lovely little Dales village with some nice shops and a few good pubs. The site is just a short stroll away and nicely landscaped. Ok, the tiles in the toilet block look a bit dated but there are enough showers and everything was always spotlessly clean. TV reception is ok with the booster (BBC channels not good) and I had a phone signal though no 3G but the pubs nearby have free wifi. But if you come to beautiful North Yorkshire and worry about not getting on Facebook etc, it's a sad thing! A sign in a pub in Leyburn stated, 'No feckin wifi! Try talking to someone!' A visit to the Wensleydale cheese factory is a must but our favourite outing was a lovely walk along the country lanes from the site to the Green Dragon pub. It is very old & atmospheric with lovely food and a short walk up a path at the rear leads to the highest waterfall in England! A very pretty walk and stunning scenery. Overall, a great site. We would definitely go again.
