Lovely Site

Large Site well kept as per usual c/c sites. Nice Dog Walk, large Playing Field and Games Room with Pool Tables and Table Tennis and Bar Football and TV. 10 Min walk into Hawes with shops and Pubs with Real Ale and Log Fires, perfect way to end the day after one of the many walks in the area , a good one being Hardraw force waterfall. If you visit the Creamery it is well worth paying the extra £1 for the Cheese making Display. Spent a week here and never ran out of things to do.  Only negative was having to pay £15 at Reception for a TV Booster Cable.

Return to Hawes

Decided to return home via the Hawes site and once again not disappointed. Nice site in a lovely location with lots of walks from the campsite. Hawes is just a few minutes walk away with its pubs, restaurants and shops. The wardens were all very friendly, pitches nice and spread out and the washrooms nice and clean but starting to look a bit tired compared to some of the other sites. We will be back again next year.

Top site

We come here every year in October, booking a serviced pitch and enjoy it every time. We do not walk now and do all the interesting visits by car. The best drive for us is over the Buttertubs and North to Barnard Castle, the scenery is stunning. Another favourite is to Semerwater, which is so peaceful in Autumn and then to Dent, where the museum is excellent. This year we had trouble with Wi-Fi on site and could not log-on. I spoke to the wardens who dismissed my complaint as being caused by the volume of traffic due to people streaming and one person who watches TV via wifi. They gave me the Airangel Tel. number and sent me away with a flea in my ear and told me to ring them. The next day the wardens also couldn't get on the internet, they didn't waste time ringing Airangel who told them to re-boot the system. This worked fine, but it seems the wardens have so many complaints about wifi, they can't be bothered to help members any more.

Weekend walking - wonderful

Another short stay at Hawes which proved excellent as ever. Main purpose of visit to meet up with family members but good to have reliably good place as a base from which to enjoy the town and walking. And our dog loves it!

A walkers dream and great for dogs

Visited the site to do some walking in the area and wasn't disappointed. Great location 5 minutes walk from the village of Hawes. Plenty of dog friendly pubs and shops. Only really a Spar for general groceries but well stocked. Walks in the area from Hawes and neighbouring Askrigg and Aysgarth were fantastic and a visit to Malham Cove And Gordale Scar is recommended. A nice drive over the moors to get there as well. Also recommended is the walk from Muker to Keld along the river Swale and back along the penine way. The site is well kept with shelter from any winds from surrounding trees. The dog walk on site is without doubt the best we've seen and well maintained. Reception had friendly staff and stocked some basic groceries etc. Toilets were usual caravan club standard..... Very good. TV reception was okay if the plug in ariel point was used although Vodafone signal was very weak in site but okay once out and about. Would visit again as we only scratched the surface of walking possibilities.

A gem of a site

Just spent a fantastic 4 nights on this site. We were on a serviced site which had a great location with everything close to hand. Wardens were excellent and very knowledgeable of the area. Hawes is a lovely town with good shops, pubs and eateries. We had two dogs and it was heaven for them with great walks in the area and a good dog walk on site also. Facilities were spotless and never any queing although site was busy. Wensleydale creamery is a must to visit but there are many interesting small towns all within a short drive from the site. Would definitely recommend this site to friends.

Best site in Britain

A very quiet and roomy site in the "capital" of the Yorkshire Wensleydale. A short walk away from the town of Hawes with good local shops and pubs. Some of the best walking in North Yorkshire in easy reach.

Good

Stayed here in early October for 3 days road biking. We usually avoid club sites due to rules, regulations and restrictions imposed preferring the simplicity and flexibility of CLs. However with no alternative CLs in the area we bit the bullet and booked into Hawes. Well our faith was restored in club sites due to the wardens friendly approach and flexibility in arrival and departure times which enabled a full days cycling on arrival and departure days. We would definitely come again!

Great base for walking

I stayed here last week with the idea of using this wonderful site as a base from which to do the 52 mile Herriot Way. This would require me to be away from my caravan as I walked to Keld and then on to Reeth and Aysgarth. The wardens were really accommodating allowing me to be absent from my caravan for the maximum permitted period of 48 hours. Loved the Herriot Way and finished off with a quick trip up Whernside later in the week.
