One of the best.

We have been to Hawes before and we are coming back again in September. Let’s start of by Hawes town itself. It has lots of places to eat out, the best we found was the Crown, great evening meal, ploughman’s in the afternoon is one of the best I have had and they love dogs. If you want a superb cream tea try the Caffe Curva on the right as you go into town just make sure you have a good appetite. There is also a chippie, spar supermarket and an assortment of other shops that you can purchase clothes and walking outdoor gear from. Market day is on a Tuesday so don’t take your car into town. Hawes Caravan Club Site. The site is very clean as is the toilet block, I think this was due to the fact there were mainly adults at this time. When everyone’s little darlings arrive in the school holidays it might all change, however I think the wardens do a fantasic job of keeping it clean. All the wardens are very friendly and helpful so a pleasure to talk to, remember you are in the country and there is a farm next to the site so you might get some strong smells now and again, those sheep just don’t care do they. There is a small shop on site where you can get a few bits for the caravan or you fancy an ice cream. To round it off this is a great site close to town and has service pitches.

superb site and staff

I stayed on a serviced pitch for ten nights from 5 May with my dog in our caravan.  The wardens are some of the best I have dealt with, from taking my booking over the phone to the final goodbye, pleasant, helpful and approachable.  The office has a well stocked shop with essential items, baguettes for the oven, local milk and meat.  We were blessed with the weather and did not venture beyond the entrance for three days!  All we needed was on site, peace and quiet.  The dog walk is fantastic  and the local pubs/shops welcoming to dogs.  Cafe Cru? on the corner, Fountain and Crown worthy of mention.  As is the butchers.. Thank you all my fellow campers for being pleasant and to the wardens, grateful thanks.

Forgot to mention the ropeworks.  Only nipped in for quick look, spent ages looking around, very interesting and came out with two leads for my 40kg dog, one made to my request, lovely staff.

Friendly, beautiful and respectful

Well i must be on a roll, another great pick for a club site and what a beautiful weekend. This site is in a stunning location, its hard to put into words how great the site is, staff were generally polite. I am coming to the conclusion its really hard to find an awful club site. I will definitely be revisiting Hawes. I really love towing the caravan and towing it to this site really does add some fun to your day. If youve not been here go, you will not be disappointed.

Five star gem of a site in Yorkshire

Many caravan club members had told us that Hawes was one of their favourite sites and we now know why. A lovely site in a beautiful position close to Hawes. The scenery is outstanding which ever way you look and being blessed on several occasions with a covering of snow on the high fells made the views all the more spectacular. If you have never visited Hawes this must be a site on your bucket list of sites to visit before you die. Being dog owners we loved the fully fenced dog field with acres of space for Fido to run to their hearts content. Highly recommended was the Fountain Inn in Hawes, with log fires, friendly staff and fabulous food why would you go anywhere else. Plenty of other fine eating and food establishments in Hawes, too many to mention. Don't miss the Wensleydale creamery for a fantastic selection of cheeses. Beautiful walks from the camp site so didn't have to use the car. Staff lovely and friendly i could go on...

Great Site - Nice Folk

This site is everything you expect in a Dales location. The grounds were well maintained and the block kept clean, albeit a little tired in places.  As you might expect many pitches are on a slope so bring your ramps.  A ten minute stroll gets you into the heart of the town and there are plenty of places to eat.  We asked a local shop owner to recommend pubs and we were not disappointed.  The Dales Museum and the Rope makers are interesting venues and are close to the site. We have left some places to explore on our next visit.

Not a Wi-Fi hot spot

If a good Wi-Fi signal is important to you have a look on the CC web site they rate all the club sites that have a Wi-Fi facility the best being rated gold the worst being rated Bronze. You should be aware that Hawes is rated Bronze.

Thank you Wardens!

This is my favourite CC site and I was really happy to return this Easter. The reasons I love this site? 1) The Dales are beautiful 2) The lovely village of Hawes is a short walk away 3) There are lovely walks and runs straight from the site including one across fields to the Green Dragon pub and waterfall. 4) The site is lovely and safe for kids, our daughter loves it. 5) There's loads to do within walking distance including gift shops, pubs, Wensleydale Cheese, the Dales museum and Gayle Mill. The wardens are lovely. This year our daughter left a little ornament on the counter in the shop. The wardens looked after it and posted it back home for us. Jess was delighted. We will be visiting again.
