Sad to leave again

Yet again a perfect break. Been many times and not disappointed. Site immaculate as usual, toilets also immaculate, clean and warm. Lovely walk into village for lunches and teas many good local pubs to choose from and a walk to the creamery is always on our list. If you do not have a dog the restaurant and coffee shop there look lovely but we tend to take turn a piece popping in for goodies then walk home via the pub.  We left reluctantly on 13/3 and can not wait to go back. We have travelled further afield on previous trips for days out and there is so much to see you will never be board.

Happy chappy.

We recently had our first one night visit to the Hawes site and we're very impressed with it. The staff were very welcoming and the site is in an excellent position for exploring the area, or if you don't want to drive, the village is just a ten minute walk away with a selection of Pubs all serving food, and a choice of café's and restaurants all within the centre of the village.  As with all the Caravan Club Sites we've stayed on, the site is well kept with the toilet and showers to the usual high standard, and if you have a dog, the dog walk field is very large and also well kept.  We will definitely be going back to this site and for longer next time.

Fantastic

Turned up on late Friday afternoon Nov  2015 for a weekend away.. But Weather constant rain and gales ... Good access to site .. When siting caravan had issues with hook up ... Hook up cable damaged with no spare available .. Nearest accessories were in Layburn... We were concerned about staying overnight without power ...? Spoke to site warden who was passing on his quad... Absolute hero helped us out with our predicament...  He passed and called round the following following day ..to check everything ok ... Top man .. Very grateful.. Would recommend this site ..

Site in a state and NO New Year's Eve Party!!!

We have stayed at Hawes CC site many times over the past 12+years and have attended many of their New year's Eve parties. Historically the site has always been full for New Year and needed 2 sets of Wardens to function correctly at this and other busy periods. Many families return year after year to take part in and enjoy the New Year's Eve parties put on by all 4 Wardens and other helpers. 2015 was the year the Club decided that the site would operate with just a single couple during the period early November until early January. It would have been unfair, indeed impossible for a single set of wardens to put on a New Year's Eve party single-handedly. Why wasn't a message put on the website and/or sent to Members who had made bookings, to the effect that there would be NO New Year's Eve party in 2015?? The overall appearance of the site is currently appalling e.g. 1) fallen leaves just left where they fell or were blown to and this will have a detrimental effect on the grass in 2016 and beyond.; 2) drains not cleaned resulting in a large expanse of surface water on the driveway. None of this can be blamed on the Winter Wardens who worked tirelessly whilst they were in charge, despite the awful weather and the many other problems which they inherited and had to deal with. The Club's "charging policy" needs to be drastically amended because otherwise Members will "vote with their feet (caravans & motorhomes)". I wonder if the Club will read and/or take heed of what Members say in their reviews on the sites they visit?

Great New Year, felt sorry for the wardens

We have stayed at the Hawes site over the new year before, its is close to the village and in a great location. The wardens were very helpful and friendly but we felt that having only 2 people to run the site at this very busy time was crazy. The wardens worked their socks off and could not have been more helpful but you cannot expect then to do everything on their own. Come on caravan Club don't cut corners to save a few pounds.

No New Years Party .. only 2 wardens!

We have stayed at Hawes over New Years for the last 4 years and is one of our high lights in the caravanning year.  However we were annoyed to find that there was no New Year's party for 2015 because the overworked warden couple were struggling to cope with the general day to day running of the site!  What idiotic head office manager thought it would be a good idea to just have 2 wardens over a very busy period? The pitch price was not reduced!  We felt really sorry for the wardens who had to cope with many complaints regarding o New year's party.  If the HO manager reads this the I trust you feel ashamed and alter your methods of warden distribution on this (and apparently) other sites who are understaffed!  Don't spoil our holidays away on the caravan club sites as we'll vote with our feet and start using other companies caravan parks!!!!!!

Felt sorry for the wardens...

Stayed over Xmas and New Year - great base for walking, despite the weather! Had a wonderful Xmas day dinner at The Green Dragon, and saw the New Year in, in Hawes - just a few minutes walk from the site. Felt sorry for the wardens though, who were pleasant and worked really hard - only one couple was running the site after the Club had laid-off the other pair, in what seems to be a penny-pinching exercise. A bit rich considering members were paying top whack to stay! First thing I had to do was remove a large pile of dead leaves from the pitch. It also meant that on the Bank Holidays the amenity block was not cleaned as there were insufficient cover to arrange a rota. Not impressed by the Club.

Post Christmas Pre New Year

We have stayed at this site a few times now and it is probably our favorite.  However, this time the temporary wardens were outstandingly friendly and helpful - the best we have come across so far.

A lovely site in the Dales

We have just returned after having our caravan in Hawes on a seasonal pitch. Whilst the weather was terrible some of the wettest weather we have had in over 100 years we were able to use it as a get away for quite a few weekends where we were pitched was above the flood level. The village of Hawes has a lovely variety of shops, pubs and restaurants all dog and family friendly. The feeling we got in the village was one of a community and whenever we went into any shops we were made to feel very welcome. As for the site the facilities were clean and functional, plenty of hot water for the showers. The wardens who were on site even though they were temporary were as helpful as any wardens we have met in our time as caravan club members and did an amazing job against the toughest of environments. We would love to return to Hawes in the summer and am going to try very hard to get a seasonal pitch there next year.
