A peaceful retreat

We stayed at Grafham Water for a week at the beginning of September. We had a service pitch, which although of reasonable size was very close to the next pitch, with only a very narrow grass partition. The site itself was very pleasant and peaceful. It's division into two halves, as far as traffic movement was concerned, added to the calm feel. Although for motor vans it did mean exiting the site to access the service point. Facilities were of the normal high CC standard. It is conveniently situated close to the reservoir, which looked good for fishing and water sports and has a good cycle / walking track around its 9 mile circumference. We found this is a pleasant walk with plenty of benches for sitting and having a picnic. Or you can stop at the Wheatsheaf pub in Perry or Anglian Water Cafe near the sailing club, both about half distance. Wimpole Hall  23m, and Houghton Mill 9m, both National Trust, are well worth a visit, as is Paxton Pits nature reserve 4m. Of the supermarkets Tesco, on the ring road to the north of Huntingdon, was easiest to access. However, there is a very nice Waitrose in St Neots. Both our O2 and EE phones worked well for calls and data. Buses however are very few, so little scope for using these to get around.

Fantastic Site, a Hidden Gem

We stayed for a week in September. The site is in a great location for walking the dog and cycling. The facilities were spotless and the wardens were always visible although there is only two of them to run the whole site. The Information Centre could of been better as there was no information on Cambridge which is only a short journey away and well worth a visit, but with only two wardens it must be hard for them to cover everything. We will definitely return if we visit the area again.

A well serviced haven

We spent a week here in September 2016. Our wardens were friendly and helpful yet unobtrusive. We found access in and around the site very good. I would suggest that this site is best suited for those wishing to chill out or active walkers or cyclists. Whilst there is a bus service nearby, it's not suitable for days out. Our stay was very enjoyable, this pair of silver surfers found it a restful change, aided by good weather.

early arrival causes no problem

When I entered the wardens office I was greeted with blank looks. They were not expecting anyone else and were just closing up. No what I expected having pre-booked my pitch on line. I was concerned, when it transpired there were only 3 pitches left and due to other pre-bookings I might not be able to stay the 4 days I wanted. Not to be beaten the wardens, sorry don't have names, using thier site knowledge found me a pitch. Not once did they bemoan the system or have a go at me for being so daft as to book my 4 days in the wrong month I had arrived 1 month early. Site was as expected, clean, tidy and quite.

Peaceful and relaxing

We only stayed one night, passing through but nice quiet site, good amenities, shame the outdoor heated pool wasn't open as it was a lovely hot day. We tried to find a local pub walking into the village but nothing, nearest pub/restaurant 5 miles away in Perry - highly recommended.

Relaxed and friendly

We came to this site on the last week of the school summer holidays. We are a retired couple. It was our second visit this year. Lots of families with children staying so pretty lively. Found all friendly and enjoyed stay. Lovely walks around Grafham water. On site the clleanliness of facilities was impeccable even though site was full. The warden and his wife Sharon were very helpful. We were lucky enough to see the great horned owl 2 nights running. We will be back.

Site up a dead end.

This site is unique because it has a swimming pool. It is clean and the wardens are excellent. The only gripe I have is the WiFi and internet access which is terrible.

A lovely site in a fab location

We arrived on a Friday afternoon to a warm welcome from the wardens. It was very busy but everything was very organised and we were soon set up. My only thought was that in future and we will definitely go back but not pitch near the play park as it was noisy some times up until 9pm. That aside it is one of the nicest sites we've stayed on.

Lovely Site

This was our second stay at this site, our children love the pool, which is a big attraction to us, we stayed on a service pitch for 5 nights and found the size of the site is nice. We went on some walks, which you can get to out the back of the site and had a lovely day cycling around Grafham Water. The children were happy to stay on site most of the time as they wanted to be in the pool, but we were lucky to go on a forest school session for free that had been organized by the wardens for national play week. The wardens were very friendly and helpful, I think they have their work cut out to manage the site on their own. We didn't really have any trouble with noise apart from one night from a family on a 1 night stop over, the warden did go and ask them to keep the noise down. We will probably be staying here again next year.
