Exceptional, fantastic first visit.

This was our first stay and it couldn’t have been better. The wardens work so hard, even in the heatwave of the bank holiday, to keep the facilities spotlessly clean. There were ample washing up facilities, again very clean and spacious. Even though the site was full we never queued once for a shower. The grass was kept cut, when one caravan moved off the grass was cut ready for the next customer. We had a very quiet and relaxing weekend. The wardens were on hand to answer any queries with a smile. Our pitch was grass and had a lovely shady area at the back under the trees, welcome shade from the sun. We really can’t find fault and will definitely return. The site is quite close to Houghton Mill, about 15 mins drive, which is a lovely afternoon out. Thank you for a lovely weekend stay.

Most Enjoyable Visit

We have just visited this site over the Bank Holiday Weekend and i must say for very inexperienced MH's this was a pleasure and the staff were more than helpful. We had a great pitch with plenty of room, the wash room facilities were clean and tidy and although the site was full, there was hardly any waiting time. The site was well kept and nice and quiet although, children were about biking around, there were never any issues. The only issue was caused by us, when our nosy dog (Rottweiler) decided to wanderer off on his own, but again our neighbours pointed out to us that he had slipped his lead and we retrieved him joining in with others. Graftham water is a 15 min bike ride away and easy access. The weather was great and return visit will be planned very soon.

In need of some refurbishment.

We used the site as an overnight stop on our way south and on our return. There was easy access from the A1 and A14. A quiet and isolated site with helpful wardens. Toilet block up to club standard. Pleasant pitches close to toilet block but the hard standing ones near to exit in need of refurbishing. Weeds growing through thin gravel. A large pile of gravel next to a weed infested car park was not up to standard and negatively affected the view from these caravans.

Nice site, but missing wardens.

We’ve been wanting to try this site for some time, but its always been booked up. But we managed to get some midweek nights in May and found it a lovely site, up to usual club standards. Apart from the wardens that seemed to be rather aloof. We ordered a paper the first day, but had to visit reception 4 times before eventually finding it manned late afternoon to collect it. Didn’t bother with any more papers after that, and never saw anyone in reception any time we came and went the rest of our visit, and even struggled to hand the gate key in when we left. Sign on door said they were around the site, but we couldn’t see them anywhere obvious. I know it’s not usual, but it was rather frustrating!! Great site otherwise, and we will visit again.

My new favourite site

Absolutely loved this site. This is a fairly small site and has a charm because of this, plenty of trees and greenery so nothing like the giant car park club sites can sometimes be. Pitches are well spaced and site wasn't full even in peak season. Lane from Grafham to the site is narrow but not very long or busy so had no issue with that. Great base for cycling and visiting the many local attractions by car with the A1 being so close.Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Pizza van on Friday evenings, it wasn't bad but the Chinese takeaway in Buckden was very good. Shame the pool has closed but not an issue. Can't wait to return there.

Looking worn

Been to this site several times in the past and this time it looked haggard. The toilet block etc looked good and no complaints about the staff but the site needs some tlc. The approach road is in need of repair, all the hard standings are in need of weeding and tidying. Around the swimming pool area is in a terrible state with weeds growing a!l over the place. The pool is apparently permanently shut. Around the holiday cottage is in a bad state of disrepair. At £30 per night won't be returning soon.

Sunny and Wet week.

It was our first visit to this lovely site. Not to crowed, just the right size, very quite and peaceful stay. The showers/toilets were kept nice and clean. The reception also stocked the basic. Nice indian down the road, local community run pub selling locally brewed ale. Well located for the main roads. Will be staying here again. Thanks to all the camp wardens for making our stay so great.

peaceful site

this review is from the perspective a motorhomer with dogs who walks or uses public transport - nice quiet site located amongst farmland and a small village, and the access road is shared with some residential cabins. Amenities block is the usual CMC standard of clean but dated facilities, with the fixed shower heads and nylon shower curtains. Very small on lead dog walk, walk through this and you go off site to a long access lane to the private woods that is rarely used, ideal for a safe off-lead pootle about. The swimming pool has been closed now for the last 2 years and is due to be filled in, shame as we had 2 very warm days, a dip would have been lovely. There is a small duck pond on site so quite common to see them waddling about the site. There are about 4 routes to walk to Grafham Water, the shortest being about 10 minutes. The Water itself is about 10 miles all the way around, just be careful with dogs off lead as its very popular with cyclists and some are going at quite a speed, and there are blind spots on the route. The small village has a community shop in a portacabin, and the 'village pub' is in a wooden building next to the shop, a 10 minute walk away. The pitches were fine, a little cramped in between, not as generous in size as other clubsites on the network. Wardens were pleasant enough, they had a hard couple of days as when we arrived the emergency tree felling was still taking place so the lower pitches and dog walk were still out of use. Good TV signal, no need for a booster cable. Woodfired pizza van, very nice, even if they didnt do pineapple on pizza ;-)

Three nights with our grandaughter

Stayed here for three nights. This was our first caravanning trip with our six year old grandaughter and the friendly warden made her welcome and gave her the Tourer Explorer booklet, a badge and told us all about the resident owl (sadly we didn't see him). The playground, although small, provided enough to do whilst on site and we also had fun playing the giant Connect 4 game. Although there was no hot water on site during our visit we had been made aware of this and the facilities were kept very clean. All contact with the wardens, including answering questions from our grandaughter about what had happened to the boiler, was friendly and helpful. I loved the flower displays around reception and we had a lovely grass pitch, number 59 with plenty space. I did think other pitches were a bit closer together than on other sites we've been to.

Two night stay

Stopped for a short visit while returning from the North, having stayed here previously. Site kept immaculate by the two friendly wardens, who greeted us warmly. Our pitch had an electrical fault, and this was immediately sorted by the wardens - apparently that side of the site had been closed for some tree work, and we were the first people to have used the pitch since. Some swapping of leads with other bollards quickly had the issue sorted - many thanks. Plenty of activities on Grafham Water, and St Neots is worth a look. Cambridge and the War Museum at Duxford are within striking distance. We did not see the Great Grey Owl this time - hopefully the tree work has not disturbed him too much. Recommended
