Wonderful situation!

A beautifully situated site and we were fortunate to have a pitch right on the harbour thanks to the friendly warden team. The Harbour Inn is very dog friendly (we have a Deerhound) and we enjoyed our meal here and would also recommend the Steam Packet Inn at Whithorn Bay - also dog friendly. Local walks are a real treat, along the beach or up to Cruggleton Castle via sandy beaches and blue bell woods. Only downside, the shower block, although spotlessly clean could do with a re-think at some stage. There are only two shower cubicles resulting in queuing and the shower heads are somewhat wild, and drainage inefficient resulting in much excess water. On more than one occasion I arrived to find water flowing out of the cubicle and into the toilet opposite. Best solution is a quick shower then head for the wash basin cubicle to dress, therefore avoiding the wet trouser bottom problem!

Just love Garlieston!

Just spent 6 nights at this site. We were in the walled garden which is quiet and sheltered. The facilities were kept spotless by the friendly wardens. The local pub is dog friendly as are most places in the surrounding areas. Great walks for the dogs around the beach and along to Galloway House where the rhododendrons and honey suckle are in bloom. Also a bluebell wood with laid out paths on route to the village of Garlieston. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby too.

Peace and quiet

This was our first time away in a caravan with our four dogs as you can imagine we were apprehensive , we need not have been , we were greeted with open arms like old friends , we were escorted to our pitch and the site manager helped us locate our van , the site was (is) immaculate in all aspects .  The beach and dog walking area is only yards away from the front ( or  rear ) gates which was great for our dogs , the local pub was very friendly and the food is apparently top notch , we actually went there to eat but was booked up , we found out later that it is always best to pre-book ( we will know next time ) within a short drive there is plenty to see and do , from beaches to rambling hills , we would highly reckon end this site and will certainly be visiting again

Quiet relief

As a regular visitor to the Galloway area, this is one part of it that is overlooked by many. It is a beautiful area with much to see and do, for those keen on Malt the Bladnoch Distillery will be reopening in about 14 months. If you are up for Irish Craic and banter the Wardens can supply it in spades and go out of their way to be helpful while keeping the site spotless.

Peaceful Site , friendly welcome

This is a great site for relaxing or using as a base to explore the area. Upon arrival we were welcomed like old friends and made to feel at home straight away , I was advised by Anne the site warden to book at the pub which we didn't actually eat at . What a mistake to make , our loss after reading other people's reviews of the pub but an excuse to come again ( as if we needed one ) There isn't maybe a lot for kids at this site but you are advised of that in the sites directory. I would definitely recommend this site and hope to come back one day

Lovely & Peaceful site

We stayed at the Garlieston site for 4 nights last week and had a pitch on the harbour side area of the site right beside the water with awesome views over the bay. The facilities were excellent spotlessly clean and well kept by Anne & Martin a credit to them both. We had our bikes with us the area is very flat ideal for novice cyclists like we were. We are planning to return again in September. Well recommended

Our favourite place on Planet Earth!

This is our forth visit to Garlieston in two years and we just love it here so much! The Wardens Ann and Martin are lovely and so helpful with everything. The facilities are always very clean and the whole site is so well kept. Ann and Martin certainly make the site look attractive with lots of flower boxes etc. The village is so quiet with one shop/Post Office and a very nice Pub. We were lucky this time to have a pitch right on the corner of the river and the sea wall which gave us beautiful views all around. The tide comes right in and then goes right out beyond the sea wall. There is also a nice walk to Rigg Bay where my wife went swimming on a warm day. We shall certainly be returning more than once a year!

Brilliant again

Back to the site again and the lovely wardens Martin and Ann, The site is so clean and tidy and the effort made with the flowers is a credit to them. martin regularly walks the site checking all is well. Toilet blocks are spotlessly clean the whole site is lovely. Will be such a shame when it is time for them to move on. We will be back again this year maybe more than once if we can get in. Thankyou both for another lovely stay
