A Great Place to Stay

We were last at Garlieston about 4 years ago and were looking forward to returning after travelling from New England Bay site. What a great surprise when we arrived and the lady told us that if we wanted an evening meal at the Harbour Inn we should make a booking; the last time we were there it was a scruffy wee men only type of place with nothing to eat. The site hasn't changed much but getting a nice pitch at the side of the water is fantastic. The facilities are just CC standard and were always available. The flowers at the site entrance makes for a nice arrival. Another great improvement in the area is the bus service. Previously, it was one bus in the third week of May, now all the buses come through the village making it easy to get around the area rather than drive, a nice relaxing way to see such a beautiful part of Scotland. Thanks for a nice visit and we will surely return if only to sample the food and beer at the Harbour Inn.

Could not be better.

Garlieston is our favourite site. Ann and Martin work very hard to keep the site clean and tidy and the flowers beautiful. They are helpful and welcoming as are the people in the village, especially in the Harbour Inn. We will keep returning.

Garlieston 2016

Stayed 3 nights at Garlieston from 31/5. Great site, Wardens, Facilities, Weather and friendly campers. Pity about the dogs. Have never seen as many animals gathered together apart from Crufts and just as noisy. Some campers had 3 dogs. T, & A, Ingham, Pilling.

Fantastic Site

We stayed at Garlieston last week for 4 nights. We had a lovely position overlooking the harbour. The wardens Ann & Martin were very friendly and helpful and kept the site very clean and tidy. Garlieston is a lovely quiet village with a great pub for meals out. There are lots of coastal walks and lovely places to visit nearby, Rigg Bay, Isle Of Whithorn and Port William. We had a lovely time with great weather for walking or just sitting out and relaxing with terrific views from the site and nearby places. Would highly recommend this site. Thanks for a very enjoyable visit.

Location and Wardens

As has been said on numerous occasions the location and wardens are what makes a site.  This together with excellent weather made our recent stay very enjoyable.  Large pitch in walled garden with very good facilities.  Did not find the shower numbers a problem as even with a full site there never was a time to wait.  Well done Martin and Ann ye are a credit to CC.

Harbour view

The site has a lovely position right in the village, most of the pitches overlook the harbour, they are mostly non awning, so even if you don't get on the front row you still get a view of the water.  The other part of the site across a quiet road has sheltered garden like feel,  both sides have spotlessly clean toilets and showers.  The wardens are very friendly and helpful and give lots of info about the village and surrounding area.  The Harbour Inn is a 2 minute walk from site, the food is very good, reasonably priced and even the restaurant is dog friendly, there is also a beer garden at the rear.  There is a bowling club in the village which welcomes visitors.  This is a great site for adults, but perhaps a bit quiet for children.

Stayed here for one week, May 2016

What a beautiful location to stay for our first club site, we joined the CC late last year and booked this site in December. The wardens greeted us and explained everything in detail, very nice people. The site is immaculate in all areas, we stayed in the walled garden on pitch 59. The Harbour Inn is very clean and serves good food and a selection of drinks, the staff are also very friendly. We have 2 dogs and they was welcome in the pub too, even during meal times. We had a full week of sunshine and spent most days walking along the coastal walks and beaches, Galloway House gardens is a must see as is the Isle of Whithorn. We will definitely be back again.

Return to Club site

Usually use CL sites. This Club site has brilliant wardens, the best ever. Has good facilities the showers and toilets sparkling clean. Location is good, but I find all club sites too cramped for space, Would benefit from another shower as only 2 each male/female for 65+ vans. Local pub reasonable food and friendly.
