Smashing stay

This is a gem of a site, a real credit to our club. The wardens were helpful and very friendly on our arrival. The site is clean and tidy and in a great location.

August bank holiday

Stayed for a long week-end in August. We stayed in the walled garden which was lovely and sheltered allowing us to BBQ on two evenings. It was lovely and quiet and you can easily walk down to the beach. The coastal walk was easily accessible. There is also a pub in the village which was busy on the Saturday night. There is plenty of places to explore in the vicinity. We will be back to do the things we missed this time. Very friendly and well worth visiting.

our stay in August 16

Lovely clean site, well tended by the wardens who were very friendly and welcoming. my only issue was we were in the walled garden part of the site and it was very narrow with no outlook on the bay as we hoped for, we were told that no awnings could be put up on the bay side but there was awnings up and spare pitches a little disappointed on arrival, as for booking in we arrived 2 caravans through the gate, a 3rd came behind us, and the driver and ran into the office to book before us and got the better pitch. not a good member at all. also be aware of the very very hot water in the toilet sinks taps. after saying that 10/10

Long weekend.

Fabulous site in a wonderful position. Friendly, helpful wardens who know the area well and can furnish you with all the information you may require. As motorhomers who love cycling, this is our second visit to this site as the roads are quiet and there are plenty of small towns to call at. One can access the best of coast and countryside from Garlieston. There is a pub close by which serves very good food. Defiantly worth a visit for a weekend or longer if you can.

Back to the future

We spent three nights at this lovely site in August. The wardens keep the site spic and span and it is well run. The display of flowers around reception is stunning. Well situated to explore the Machars peninsula, we travelled by bus to Whithorn, Isle of Whithorn and Wigtown. The area is steeped in history traced back to earliest times, and Wigtown is the national book town, boasting many fine book shops. This is a site worth multiple visits to explore this fascinating and interesting area. We will return.

Great for Dogs

This was our 5th visit and we love it you can walk for miles in any direction and not meet anyone else this time we managed to get a pitch overlooking the Harbour and watch the many changing scenery pictures. The pub is as people have said is dog friendly and the Staff and landlord remembered us from last year. The wardens are great, friendly and keep the flower borders lovely. The showers are lovely and hot and kept very clean both by the wardens and the people using the site well done everyone.

Excellent site

We spent 6 nights at Garlieston from 07.08.16 and had a great time. The site is nice and peaceful and both Wardens are very helpful, friendly and professional. Nothing appears to be any trouble to them and their knowledge of local places of interest was appreciated. The toilets are very clean, although a wee bit dated now, and are more than adequate. The local hotel, the Harbour, do excellent meals at various times of the day and include carry-outs if wanted. The evening meals were excellent and value for money. Service was very good by all the staff and the quality was second to none and I would recommend a visit while at this site. All in all there was nothing that caused us any concern and I have absolutely no reservation in recommending this site and the Team there for making our visit so enjoyable. Thanks to them again.

Great site

Garleiston is a wonderful quiet site. The wardens are friendly and efficient. the site is well manicured and the shower blocks are spotless. It is a great site for peace and quiet but there is not much in the area for children. Although the shower blocks are well looked after the harbour block is getting a bit dated and in my view should be refurbished reducing the privacy cubicles and increasing the number and size of the showers. Please dont let the last comment put you off the site as it's still a great place. Also try the Harbour Inn for decent food and a good pint. RT

Peace and tranquilty

Second visit to this site and it just gets better - Great welcome from Ann and Martin who manage a meticulously manicured site - a stone is never out of place - got a great pitch that was sheltered and allowed us to watch the day go by. Facilities are great but slightly dated compared to some of the renovated sites. The village is quiet with one shop and one pub - which offers great atmosphere super service and great reasonably priced food. The overall area has many hidden treasures that are worth driving round, much history from the wars took place here - also a heaven for cyclists and fishermen(except mackeral - in joke). Well worth the visit and we will return A downside for some but not for us is that the area doesnt hold much for kids unless they are outdoor lovers - it is dog heaven though!!  ps Harbour Inn is dog friendly too

A hidden Gem

If Carlsberg made wardens then Martin and Ann would be their top of the range, so welcoming and helpful. The site is kept immaculate with their hard work so well done to you both. The setting is peaceful with easy walks in either direction from the site, The Harbour Inn serves good food until 8-30pm.
