Fantastic site and great wardens

This was our first venture into Scotland with the motorhome. I have to say this site has been a delight to stay at, friendly wardens and a beautiful site and surrounding area. Great local pub serving good food, plenty of local walks with stunning scenery. We will return :)

Hidden Gem in South West Scotland

This site is an absolute gem from start to finish. The two wardens are meticulous in there work from cleaning the two toilet blocks to cutting the grass and maintaining the beautiful flower beds. It does not end there. Take a walk into the village and everyone speaks to you, and then there is the Harbour Inn, where everyone is charming and treats you as one of the locals, it appears that many of the locals were once caravanners and after years of staying on the site had sold up retired and bought a property in this delightful village. The food in this establishment is first class too. You cannot fail but to be impressed.

An unknown venture

Not knowing what to expect we were greeted with two eager and informative wardens, a place of peace, tranquility and beauty! What more can anyone ask?! We'll be back and in the meantime tell everyone of this treasure of a place!!!

Bird watcher's heaven

I was here on my own and the warden was extremely helpful and considerate. I spent a lot of time watching the seabirds and waders and my van was perfectly sited overlooking the bay. The pub nearby was also friendly and the food delicious. This is a good site for all, whether you want to be active or just "chill out."

Real chill out site

My third visit to this site that I love for chilling out. From the harbour I watched the heron, oystercatchers and other waders on the outgoing tide and strolled along the coast with my aging dog. The wet fish van arrives on Tuesday evenings and sells delicious fish and seafood. Shame that the only shop now in Garlieston is the post office/grocers and that is up for sale. Do hope someone takes it on as a general food store. As usual all the facilities are spotless and the wardens brilliant.

Smashing stay

This is a gem of a site, a real credit to our club. The wardens were helpful and very friendly on our arrival. The site is clean and tidy and in a great location.

August bank holiday

Stayed for a long week-end in August. We stayed in the walled garden which was lovely and sheltered allowing us to BBQ on two evenings. It was lovely and quiet and you can easily walk down to the beach. The coastal walk was easily accessible. There is also a pub in the village which was busy on the Saturday night. There is plenty of places to explore in the vicinity. We will be back to do the things we missed this time. Very friendly and well worth visiting.

our stay in August 16

Lovely clean site, well tended by the wardens who were very friendly and welcoming. my only issue was we were in the walled garden part of the site and it was very narrow with no outlook on the bay as we hoped for, we were told that no awnings could be put up on the bay side but there was awnings up and spare pitches a little disappointed on arrival, as for booking in we arrived 2 caravans through the gate, a 3rd came behind us, and the driver and ran into the office to book before us and got the better pitch. not a good member at all. also be aware of the very very hot water in the toilet sinks taps. after saying that 10/10

Long weekend.

Fabulous site in a wonderful position. Friendly, helpful wardens who know the area well and can furnish you with all the information you may require. As motorhomers who love cycling, this is our second visit to this site as the roads are quiet and there are plenty of small towns to call at. One can access the best of coast and countryside from Garlieston. There is a pub close by which serves very good food. Defiantly worth a visit for a weekend or longer if you can.

Back to the future

We spent three nights at this lovely site in August. The wardens keep the site spic and span and it is well run. The display of flowers around reception is stunning. Well situated to explore the Machars peninsula, we travelled by bus to Whithorn, Isle of Whithorn and Wigtown. The area is steeped in history traced back to earliest times, and Wigtown is the national book town, boasting many fine book shops. This is a site worth multiple visits to explore this fascinating and interesting area. We will return.
