Superb wardens and a beautifully kept site - facilities as usual high standards. We had a harbour side pitch and were lucky enough to see the tide in a few times which was very picturesque. Nice pub in Garlieston The Harbour Inn good food and reasonably priced and the locals are very friendly. The majority of the pitches are very snug and some rather small. We initially booked 8 nights but decided to sample New England Bay after a couple of days and the Wardens happily and efficiently arranged the booking for us.
Get a way from it all
Lovely welcome by the friendly warden, chose a pitch in the wall garden area which was very quiet with plenty of room between each pitch, no view but we preferred the space. Very clean toilets and shower block. If you want total piece and quiet and a "get away from it all" (including phones, no phone signal) then this site is the one.
Garlieston is not the prettiest place we have visited in Scotland, have to to be honest we won't return to Garlieston but glad we have seen it.
Wish I Could Agree With Other Reviewers
One thing I can agree on is that the wardens do a grand job and Mrs Warden in the office should be treasured by the club as she is so good with customers, even disgruntled ones.
We arrived and booked in for six nights. With a 7.5 metres caravan nearly all the harbourside pitches were out of bounds as too narrow so we were given one directly behind i.e. in the middle of three rows of caravans. We felt like sardines so close were the vans in front, beside and behind. Within twenty minutes I had been back to the office and asked the warden to book us in to the New England site and refund the money paid for the further five nights. I cannot speak too highly of how she dealt with this. If you are small enough for a harbourside pitch or are in the awning pitches area perhaps the glowing reports are justified but we will not be returning. To add insult to injury the tide was out when we arrived at a quarter to three and had not returned by the time we went to bed at ten o'clock and we did not see it in again before we left at ten thirty the next morning so just looked at a patch of mud while we were there.
Probably our favourite site
Although having once lived in Scotland we had never visited the south west of Scotland and when planning our tour Garlieston was a speculative choice. What a beautiful site it turned out to be. We were lucky enough to get a front sea view pitch. The site has a mixture of grass and hard standing pitches and is split into two sections but the sea view part is far the nicer. The village of Garlieston is a very pleasant with a small harbour, bowling green, a post office/shop and a tea room adjoined to a very nice pub where the food is good and plentiful. A bus stops just outside the pub taking you to the larger towns and villages in the area. The locals are very friendly. You just know you are going to get a warm site welcome when you see the beautiful flower display around the reception area as you arrive and this proved to be the case. The wardens were very friendly and informative and the site was well maintained and the facilities were modern and clean Our only regret was we were only there for two days we will be back but our stay will be longer
A quiet holiday
Just had a 2wk stay at Garlieston and it is a quiet and tidy site. One note of caution is the site has two areas, the one at the office/sea front is split into two areas with a bridge over a stream/burn. Be careful while driving over the bridge with your caravan / large motorhome as the entrance/exit on and off the bridge is angled. I witnessed a member crunch the rear side of his caravan on the Armco barrier when he was exiting the site. Otherwise a lovely quiet site even when busy.
Another great break
Just back from our 2nd stay at this site. Lovely location, immaculate facilities and warm welcome from the wardens. We got a large pitch on the harbour wall looking straight out to sea so could watch the tide come in and out and lots of sea birds. The local pub, the harbour Inn is a very short walk away and they do very nice food. Booking is recommended as it is very popular. The locals are very friendly and the pub is dog friendly too. There are regular buses to Newton Stewart and Isle of Whithorn with the stop being just outside the site. Peaceful atmosphere, we will definitely be back.
Great site
This is a lovely peaceful site set within a great part of the country. There is a great floral display to greet you at the site entrance followed by a warm and friendly welcome from the wardens. This is a great place to come to get away from it all with plenty of walks close by and the local Hotel is a short walk from the site offering great food at good prices.

Great break and lovely location
We used this site as a base for touring and we were very pleased with all aspects. Our 2 young children were safe on the site whilst riding their bikes and playing. We will definately return to this site again.

Lovely CLub Site and Location
The Caravan club site is in a lovely location with views of Garlieston harbour. We stayed in a pitch without awning close to the harbour side and enjoyed a very pleasant short stay there. It is a very well kept and tidy site in a good area for dog walking and cycling due to the scenery, and surrounding mostly quiet country roads.
Mid week break
Stayed on this site for 3 nights, found it very friendly and restful. Facilities were clean and wardens very friendly. Can recommend this site,
