Stunningly beautiful site right on the water's edge of Garlieston Bay. Completely new territory to me but what a find! Coastal walks right on the doorstep so no need to drive anywhere. Wardens fantastic - great sense of humour! Just be sure to have groceries with you when you arrive as there is little opportunity to stock up provision-wise in Garlieston itself. Great pub though - the Harbour Inn - and excellent fish and chip van that visits on Friday between 4 and 7.
One of the best
A unique site set in a small quite village where time seems to have stood still (thankfully) .eating places are few and far between but fortunately within 5 mins walk there is a very good pub boasting a good menu served efficiently by very friendly staff. Well used by tourists and locals so recommend you book to make sure of a table. The wardens, (Anne and Martin) deserve an extra special mention for being the perfect example of friendly and helpful hosts. Rigg Bay has an excellent beach accessible through Galloway House gardens. Go once and you will return again to this peacefull site.

GREAT
Before we arrived I expected Harbour views with jolly jack tars and fishing boats etc. What we got was views across the estuary with gulls ,oyster catchers, mallards, swallows, house martins and a heron;and at night bats galore-BRILLIANT.
The Harbour Inn,couple of hundred yards away served good food, good beer and good company-do for me!.
We had a run down to the Isle of Whithorn-lovely little restaurant and then up to Port William-Ice cream.
We also went down to Kirkcudbright-free parking, free museum and a smashing cafe.
We also managed to go for a wander to the harbour as well but as we were only there 3 nights we did not manage to try the other walks round the site.
Got to mention the showers-proper showers as hot as you like and you don,t have to run round in them to get wet!.
Really worth a visit to this site.

Peace and quiet
Lovely week spent here. Such a well kept site with great views over the bay and fabulous sunsets. . Wardens so friendly and helpful. Good meals at the pub across the road. Followed part of the Red Kite Trail by the RSPB and saw the amazing Kite feeding frenzy at Ballymack Hill Farm, fantastic sight.

Wardens amazingly helpful and friendly. This area little known but a gem to explore - Isle of whiithorn, Whithorn Museum, Galloway House Gardens
Wigtown Book Town and Festival, Spring Fling (Arts & Crafts Festival), Gardens galore particularly good in May & June. Lovely cycling and walking countryside. Much more to see within an hour's drive - see site info
GOOD FOR ADULTS AND THEIR FURRY FRIENDS
This site is quite small and compact but pretty and on one side has the sea views. We chose the walled area away from the sea, which protected you from the sea breezes. The views were amazing, awesome sunsets and always something to look at. Lots of birdlife. Walking away from the site to you right you went towards the little harbour and then round the corner on to the coastal path which you could walk forever. Lovely sandy bays and rocky outcrops to explore. You were also able to walk through a private landscaped garden which was beautiful. Going to the left you could walk out towards the point through a wooded area. Pub within a few hundred yards and accepted dogs inside. Fish & Chip van arrived on a Friday night. Bowls were regularly played opposite the pub. Nothing much for youngsters unless they like walking and nature. Quite remote so might be more of an issue if weather inclement. Showers block slightly older, but showers were great - really powerful, had proper shower heads which were adjustable!
relaxed stay
I night stay on tour (have stayed before) helpful wardens go out of the way to help. Love the sea views from the harbour side of the site Although the showers do not look the best they are powerful Thumbs up from us.
May Anniversary Break
Arrived here on the Saturday for a week , the brilliant wardens organised for us to move to a seafront pitch on our second day which was lovely with views to die for , spend hours watching the tide roll in and out . The weather was warm and sunny for the whole week . having been to many club sites we have to say this one is the best we ve been to so far , the site is immaculately kept , the wardens very friendly and helpful, and the shower / toilet blocks were always clean. the walks from the site are great , along the coast , through forests etc .Had our anniversary meal at The Harbor Inn , which is a lovely little pub , with a nice peaceful beer garden at the back. We had some lovely fresh fish from the mobile wet fish van too.We ordered a Daily Newspaper from Garlieston Garage which is only a short walk away , he also sells fresh bread, milk and essential groceries. All in all we would recommend this site and will definitely be back again , Thanks for a lovely stay !!!!
