My wife & I recently spent 10 nights at Freshwater East and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Freshwater East isn't much to write home about but the Stackpole Estate just up the road is fabulous and must be visited, as must the Stackpole Inn. The site is also convenient for Tenby which retains more charm than similar resorts.
The site was quiet & peaceful despite being at between 95% and 100% capacity but the real problem here is the very old and inadequate toilet & shower facilities. The wardens do their absolute best, but they're dealing with a bad deck.
Picturesque for a War Zone
Delightful location, just a short walk to the lovely beach. No shops or cafes or arcades full of amusement. Just peace and quiet - until the MOD let loose with everything they can throw at you. Tanks, bombs and screaming aircraft up until nearly midnight on one occasion.
Otherwise, the site is neat and tidy with a short but interesting dog walk - thanks for the bark chippings along the path too.
Unfortunately, the toilet blocks are due for refurbishment. Although clean and tidy, they are just too small with just three loos and three showers in the far block to be shared over way too many pitches.
Possibly not a site to be revisited in a hurry, but wold not rule it out in the future either.
Kayaking Holiday in Pembrokeshire.
Stayed here for five nights at the end of June and would have stayed for five more if I could have. Got onto a grass pitch right at the bottom of the site which meant I could walk my boat down to the enormous beach. Just the one toilet block for the whole site, but never had to queue for a shower even though the site was pretty much full. Wetsuit showers round the back of the toilet block - with warm water! Lovely site very handy for Tenby, Pembroke/Pembroke Dock (ferry, supermarkets, etc), Manorbier, Lamphey, Carew Castle and Mill, Bosherston Lily Ponds, etc, etc, not to mention the Coastal Path itself. Can't wait to stay again.
Fantastic
This site is fantastic, great location and only a short walk to the beach which allows dogs all year round.
The site is quiet and ideally situated for visiting Tenby and other places in West Wales
Great site, all you could want
Some negative reviews of this site are totally unfounded. The warden was helpful, courteous and with his team keep the site very well maintained, tidy and clean. It is very peaceful and the pitches offer good variation and choice. The beautiful coastline and beaches are accessible from the site and you can walk or use the bus to visit various locations. I really feel CC should not publish false and untrue reviews as they are very misleading.

Very Enjoyable Stay
It is a very busy site and quite a big site. The facilities are slightly dated but very clean. That said, the location is excellent, even from the far point of the site only a 10 minute walk to the dog friendly beach. Coastal cruiser bus stop just outside the site if you don't fancy driving on some of the narrow lanes. At least 3 castles and about 10 beaches within a 20 minute drive.
I spoke to all 5 of the wardens during my stay and they were always very polite, friendly, helpful and professional. One couple went out of their way to be helpful when I needed to find a local vet.
I found the dog walk perfectly adequate for early morning and late evening walks. Off site the walks were limited only by your own fitness and energy!
Hope to be back next year.
Too big and needs better management and I don't mean the tractor!
Great location for walks and beach. Too crammed in and agree the dog walk was very poor. Noise wasn't too bad for the size of site.
Downside: management needed to deal with those people who believe the rules aren't for them but were missed by the distance of wardens from life on the site. Mess in the dog walk, the family from hell who let their very young children scream and charge about, those who take every inch and mile of their surroundings by pegging out windbreaks and fences. The other irritant was the endless tractor noise and grass cutting even moving us and our chairs and tables when we were peacefully sitting out having a holiday! And we had been out for 6 hours....so do it then!
Same again Sunday morning 9.15 am...and it was raining! We know you have work to do but we're on hols. Find the balance! Felt like a case of boys and toys! Get those ear protectors off your head and you might know what we're talking about!
Too like a car park
The location of this site is delightful, though the road down the hill is very steep it leads to a lovely hidden valley back from the huge beach. This is not a kiss me quick beach, but a great place for kids and dogs to run about, let off steam, paddle in the sand ponds and have a great old fashioned time. The disappointment of the site though - it really is a car park with poorly levelled pitches, far too close together (the CC really seems to take the fire regs minimum distance as the max space needed and therefore as permission to cram in as many people as possible). Very loud music and shouting was not managed, mainly because the wardens are a very long way from the back of the site I imagine. Thankfully it did stop about 10.30-11pm. There are insufficient showers and toilets (with low water pressure too for loo filling) for the number of people on the site and since there is a steep walk to the blocks going back and forth to find a loo or shower means you lose the will to live after a while. Shame, the site could be lovely but for the club determination to overcrowd and lay everything out in car park format. Would probably be great in very low season and few visitors.
Beautiful spot to get out for some stunning coastal walks, or just to chill out!
Very peaceful for such a large site (although we were in the furthest corner away from the entrance). This did make for quite a long stroll just to get out the site and on to the lovely beach, but that wasn't a problem for us.
And who cares if the on-site dog-walk is "c**p" to quote another review, when there are miles and miles of stunning walks right on your doorstep - we went on to the Gowerton site after this one, where there is a fine on-site dog-walk for a couple of hundred yards through the trees, but unless you are prepared to drive a distance away, the only off-site walking involves a school playing field, busy roads with no pavements, soulless housing estates and a rather boring town - I certainly know which I prefer!!
