Lovely Pembrokeshire Site

We stayed here last weekend to attend a wedding in the area. We have stayed here on many occasions and have always found it to be well cared for and very pleasant wardens. It is situated in a beautiful location and so close to the beach and coastpath. Lovely walks to Manorbier and Stackpole Quay not forgetting Barafundle Beach. New toilet blocks are very good. A shame to read that there has been some vandalism. What is the matter with people?  Welsh caravanner.

new toilet block doesnt work7

The old toilet block over the past 19 years was only 3,toilets for men. New block and still only 3,toilet and disabled have to walk 150 yards to empty the toilet as there isn't one in a new block. Rubbish, poor wardens have to put up with the complaints the someone who never uses toilet block knows better, rubbish. UNTIL

Location, Location, Location

We have just returned from a most enjoyable couple of weeks from this site. And as locations go it is superb, 5 minute walk to the beach as well as a short drive to Stackpole Quay (National Trust) for Barafundle Bay and a lovely tea room as well as the Stackpole Inn (amazing food). The site itself seemed very cluttered in places and been situated close to the park there was one group of boys who seemed to believe it was acceptable to stay out until 11pm making a nuisance by throwing the swings around as well as damaging the new toilet block (going by what they said). The new toilet block facilities are great only let down by lack of toilet cubicles (3 including 1 which was vandalised) which meant a queue formed rather quickly and lack of wet suit shower. There is a wetsuit shower at the rear of the older block however alot of people seemed to use the waste water tap on the service points. Despite the niggles we truly loved the site and the area, getting the right pitch is key as well as taking levelling blocks for the legs our hitch was just off the ground and the rear legs were fully extended there didn't appear to be one level pitch on the upper tier. We will return and as do follow the clubs directions to the site and not sat nav.

Great holiday

The site had it all. Wonderful new facilities, helpful wardens and only a short walk to the beach.  The relaxed atmosphere allowed for everyone to enjoy the holiday.  Allowing tents enabled us to have our family too and I hope the new area provides better space for them next year.  Thank you for sun, surf and fun.  We shall be back!??????

Freshwater East weekend away

Just had weekend away at Freshwater East the site is located a short walk away from the beach. The site has new facilities which were lovely and clean. The site has new large hardstanding pitches, I however made the mistake of booking a pitch with no awning, and therefore had no choice of pitch and was given a grass pitch close to the entrance (which had all traffic passing) and had adjacent dirt area with orange plastic fencing around. Not the ideal pitch so in future would book pitch with awning to get a nicer pitch, there were plenty of hardstands available. Another disappointment was the fact we could not get t.v reception at this pitch either, as we seemed to have a faulty t.v connection box outside. The head warden and his wife were helpful and friendly. A nice site overall - good for site seeing West Wales.

Chilling by the sea

Just returned from another 4 day break at Freshwater. The new shower block is great but only has 3 male cubicles so did have to wait on a few occasions. New indoor washing up area is well used and clean. We love this site as its so close to the beach with good food in the local pubs (Stackpole in tried this time and it did not disappoint. We can also recommend the coasteering at Stackpole quay it was a great afternoon with Mark the national trust guide. A great time was had by all but if I can be picky:- my kids and I were very disappointed that the wetsuit showers at the back of the lower toilet block have been changed from gorgeous warm water to COLD water which had in the past been a complete luxury and pleasure. ( Apparently it's CC new policy for outside showers) Come on CC give them back to us they were a treat.

Seaside break

Disappointed with the removal of chemical waste  From certain areas of the site including the new toilet block.  Parking for 2nd car is alongside entry area for site, causing some family members frustration. Notices of vandalism to the brand new toilet block are quite annoying, for firstly the wardens and also the patrons. It's a shame that children are allowed by parents to wander around the site late at night and hang around the toilet block. Other than more policeing by the wardens late at night (after 9pm) it should be parental control. Road markings have faded, so they need to be repainted to emphasise the one way system for vehicles and bikes! Ian (& partner ) the wardens are extremely helpful and friendly. The site is lovely and great for a relaxing break, as long as you avoid school holidays. New service pitches are a great addition. Perfect for cliff walks when the weather is good, to fabulous Barafundle bay.

A peach of a site

A brilliant site, with an easy stroll to a large, unspoiled beach and plenty of coastal-path walks on hand. Facilities clean and ample (one shower was particularly powerful!). The only small downside was that the on-site shop is minimally stocked; a local store for more than very basic requirements and papers etc was too far to walk, but never mind, the site's isolation is part of its attraction.

Great site right on the costal path access to beach really easy ,well run and really friendly wardens..only thing that spoils this site is too many dogs, as usual barking at nothing and owners not sorting it out Please remember not everybody owns one.for children this site is heaven.

Great holiday venue for families

The newly refurbished camp has a lot to offer families. Right on the beach and it is a beautiful beach, quiet, beautiful scenery and quiet roads. The only narrow bit being the final 3 miles down a lane on our journey from the north. If you want a daily paper be prepared to drive to the nearest garage/local shop which is 3 miles away in Lamphey. There is a good assortment of pubs and takeaways Pembroke being little more than 4 miles away. Local pubs are all dog friendly and the Freshwater Inn does excellent pub grub at a reasonable price but get there early because it gets busy. The sea is great to swim in warning about a riptide only apply when the sea is rough. I was able to swim without a wet suit as it was so warm. The area is great for cycling with a vast amount of quiet lanes and walkers will love the cliff side walks. The camp itself has undergone a large improvement and increased size. This has resulted in one of the two toilet blocks affectively servicing 80 pitches. I think three toilet and three urinals is perhaps too little especially when one of the toilets was out of order for our entire stay. Are there no plumbers in Pembroke? The place is popular with families but that's the chance you take with a beachside campsite. The staff were working tirelessly on the new site and as a result the usual warm friendly relaxed helpful approach was not quite as it is on other sites but we put that down to teething problems they were having to deal with quite a lot of extra work. Would we go again? only if we were taking the grandchildren.
