Great holiday venue for families

The newly refurbished camp has a lot to offer families. Right on the beach and it is a beautiful beach, quiet, beautiful scenery and quiet roads. The only narrow bit being the final 3 miles down a lane on our journey from the north. If you want a daily paper be prepared to drive to the nearest garage/local shop which is 3 miles away in Lamphey. There is a good assortment of pubs and takeaways Pembroke being little more than 4 miles away. Local pubs are all dog friendly and the Freshwater Inn does excellent pub grub at a reasonable price but get there early because it gets busy. The sea is great to swim in warning about a riptide only apply when the sea is rough. I was able to swim without a wet suit as it was so warm. The area is great for cycling with a vast amount of quiet lanes and walkers will love the cliff side walks. The camp itself has undergone a large improvement and increased size. This has resulted in one of the two toilet blocks affectively servicing 80 pitches. I think three toilet and three urinals is perhaps too little especially when one of the toilets was out of order for our entire stay. Are there no plumbers in Pembroke? The place is popular with families but that's the chance you take with a beachside campsite. The staff were working tirelessly on the new site and as a result the usual warm friendly relaxed helpful approach was not quite as it is on other sites but we put that down to teething problems they were having to deal with quite a lot of extra work. Would we go again? only if we were taking the grandchildren.

Fabulous Site

We have just returned after a 16 night break, it was our first visit. It was an immaculate site in an amazing location. Fresh Water East beach is within 5 minutes walk. There are a number of others within a short drive, including the beautiful Broadhaven South & Barafundle and the more rugged ones like Freshwater West. All spectacular and the coastline is amazing. Someone likened it to Cornwall without the tourists and we would agree. The wardens - Ian, Janet and their team were very friendly & always on hand for help & a laugh!! Tenby, Saundersfoot, Pembroke Castle are all very close by and worth a visit. There are a number of places to eat around, some fine dining & others more cheap & cheerful as we call it, but all good. We will definitely be returning at some point, would highly recommend :-)

Unplanned Holiday

We were so pleased that we made the descision to relocate to Freshwater East for the 2nd week of our holiday, after a complete disappointment at Pembrey club site. The Carvan Club have done an amazing job on updating this site. The shower facilities were the best I have ever used on a club site. The facilities were always clean. The location of Freshwater East caters for everyone's needs there are villages, historic sites, beaches, walks and attractions for the kids. The wardens are the friendliest that we have ever met. We Will definitely be back.

Peace and quiet

The site is in an idyllic location with a relatively short walk to the beach. Our folding trolley was useful to carry all of the clobber for two adults and two young children. One toilet block must be new. Best shower I have ever experienced at a club site. Lots of places to visit nearby so will hope to come back again soon. One very odd point though. Reception is shut from 10:30 until 12:15 three days a week and last check out time is 12:00. Needed to call in on our Monday departure but could not. Yes I know there were A4 sheets dotted about "warning" of this but it just seems rather unhelpful. I have never left a club site on a Monday before so perhaps they are all the same ............. I doubt it though!

Freshwater revamped

This was our third visit to the site which has just reopened after a major makeover / rebuilding of the Toilet /wash room blocks. After a few start up issues the facilities settled down into the usual excellent standard provided by the Caravan Club, thanks to the diligence and dedication of the site wardens. The revamped playground was certainly popular with the children. However it lacks seating for adults to sit and watch over their younger children. It would also benefit from a "closed at dusk" sign or something similar to curtail noise late into the evening. The Wifi service is still inadequate and you will require a long aerial cable to connect to the plentiful points provided to get a TV reception. (4 channels). Overall the site is lovely and close to Freshwater east beach. The surrounding area is fabulously pretty with other excellent beaches within a few miles drive. i.e. Barafundle and Broadhaven. Pubs at Stackpole and "Tudor glen" in Jamestown serve excellent food. Will definitely be returning for a fourth visit in the future.

Beware - The Freshwater addiction!

This was our second time visiting the site and we will certainly be back again. We love the close proximity of the beach and being able to easily access it from the site. The beach itself is sandy and relatively quite. Barafundle, Stackpole and Bosherton are all nearby and worth a visit, as well as excellent coastal walks. The Stackpole Inn is highly recommended for an excellent evening meal. Tenby is 20mins away by car with all the usual seaside character. The site has had newly refurbished and newly built facilities which were kept clean and tidy. Was a slight shame the builders were still on site for the first day of our stay and we had a machine behind our pitch excavating for a drainage connection. However, this was soon forgotten.

Over crowded

We spent 3 days here in July just after it reopened. The pitches were very close together and our neighbours partied every evening!  The on site dog walk was a commando course as you dodged tree stumps and ducked to avoid hitting your head. Not suitable if you met an unfriendly dog! We heard a few dog fights along there. Facilities were good. The beach was near by but we didn't want sand all over the place! Other campers let their dogs wonder free!!

Great but where have the tent pitches gone?

We love Freshwater East site even though it is only 12 miles from our house.  In the past it has been ideal for families to be able to be together when not all have caravans/motorhomes because there were tent pitches available.  These have now gone.  A great shame.

It's the little things!

The location when the sun shines is stunning. ....just disappointed that the shop was not stocked as end of season. ...but no milk was a disaster to a motorhomer.....nearest shop 2 mile!
