Freedom

We love being on this site. I need to use a mobility scooter and here I get freedom withe the lovely park next door with its tarmac paths. The site has excellent facilities and plenty to do not the surrounding area. We have visited the site twice this year - wonderful friendly wardens this year. Look forward to visiting again in 2019.

Lovely Site

I stayed at Ferry Meadows on my way to Crystal Palace because of the good access to the A1. There are plenty of walks from the site and, because I was staying for only 3 nights, I had no need to use the car as I was happy exploring the local areaon foot. The adjacent park is well worth a walk round. The cafes in the park are good value too (remeber to show your membership card for discount) I note others have mentioned the noise from the playground, because my stay was not within the school holidays, I did not find this to be intrusive. I am surprised, however, that children were playing there before 8am on a Sunday morning. Indeed, if I were pitched near the play park, I might be a bit upset at being woken up before 8am on a Sunday or when on holiday! I have no objection to the sound of children playing, indeed this is a happy sound, but not before 8am please. The ice cream van did come round quite late (after 7.30pm) and whilst I appreciated it, as a parent with young children, you might find this a nuisance. The fish and chip van is on site 3 times in the week. All in all, a lovely site and I would recommend it

Great Site Keep Coming Back !!!!

This is such a lovely site clean tidy and great wardens. Love the idea of fresh herbs growing by the site office for anyone to use. The ice cream van calls every night and it is proper Italian soft ice cream, very hard to resist, we didn't for 7 nights !!! The steam train going past is a lovely sound and Nene park a joy to walk around. We will be back again wish it was a bit closer to Scotland, but cant have it all.

great get away.

This was our first visit to this site, and it didnt let us down. We went to the east side and found a lovely pitch near the play area. as it was mid September the site was only half full, plenty of space around you , this did change at the weekend, as it became full with the week enders, but the site can take it. Plenty to do from the site as you are next to the park, Walks and bike rides , we walked into Peterborough which took us 70 mins, which is a lovely city to visit, another day we went in by train at a cost of £6 each return. We had no need to use the car as you can also catch the bus in. this site is well worth coming back to , and are booked in for next year. We found the wardens very helpful and would stop and talk to you. looking forward to our next visit. Mozza.

Great site overall

We use Ferry Meadows a number of times all year round. Great location, easy to get too. One or two adverse comments about wardens, can’t fault the way the site is run by the wardens, they work extremely hard. If people break or bend the rules they should be told. Whole site is clean and tidy. What I particularly like is that the toilets are clean between 12 and 2pm I think that works for all members on site. I don’t like going on some sites that close for cleaning at about 10 am.

August visit

We have been coming to ferry meadows for some years now and enjoy it very much. We have our favourite pitch places and love the walks with our dogs I have a small gripe this last visit though. I know it was school holidays and there would be plenty of children, that isn't an issue. What wasn't so nice was the wide grass area around the caravans was a magnet for football - the grass meadows in the park were only 5 min walk away! I really don't like footballs kicked up against my awning and vehicle, and on this occasion "daddy" was playing with the children. At least they weren't playing near their own caravan! In the past I have been asked to put my well behaved dog on his rope. Fair play, this is the rule and I have stuck to it since. However for some reason there were dog owners who did not secure their dogs, no matter how well behaved or not. No one seemed to enforce this rule, strange isn't it? Anyway, it has not spoiled me from coming back, I'll just keep in mind that rules only apply to some and not others

Fantastic visit to Ferry Meadows.

Well what can I say about Ferry Meadows Caravan and Motorhome Club Site? There is just too much! My husband and I (and our dog) recently spent 15 nights here 10th to 25th August and we had a fantastic time. I was a little worried after reading quite a lot of negative reviews..........I shouldn’t of worried at all! Firstly, the campsite is excellent, split into two halves with one side focusing more on families and the other side being a bit quieter. We chose the quieter side on pitch 29, which was a lovely pitch with sun nearly all day. The only reason for choosing this side is our dog gets anxious with bikes, scooters etc. and we didn’t want him to bark and disturb other campers every time one passed our Motorhome. The site itself is lovely and very well run and maintained. The staff are very helpful and pleasant, particularly Alan who stopped for a chat or gave us a wave when he passed. He also gave us some great dog training tips and some great information about the area. The site and facilities are spotlessly clean and all the staff go above and beyond to keep them this way - which is no easy task considering the state some people leave them in. There is a good system with security when arriving at site which keeps things running smoothly during busy times. A fish and chip van visits 3 times a week and an ice cream van in the evenings. A few items are also sold in the reception shop, but to be honest I didn’t really look much in reception, just popped in on one occasion. The site is situated at the Nene country park which has an abundance of outdoor activities for families, couples etc. It is very flat for cycling, pushchairs, wheelchairs and the Nene Valley Railway is just outside the site. There are loads of places to walk and the pubs in adjoining villages were all nice with good menus (particularly The Cuckoo and The Woodman) so we never went hungry. Plus you can get everywhere on foot if you don’t mind a walk along some of the lovely trails. You can walk into Peterborough in about an hour (3 miles) and there are various routes to get there. We didn’t walk the same path twice other than getting from the campsite to the path we wanted. On the whole, we had a thoroughly lovely time and walked the legs off our poor dog, who consequently snored all night 😂. Basically we just chilled.......walk, eat, drink, sleep and repeat!! Fab site, thanks Alan and Dee, keep up the hard work.

Great site

We’ve been coming to ferry meadows for the last 5 years and love the great location and cleanliness of the facilities. The play area is great although I wouldn’t recommend you pitch near it due to the amount of children . I agree with other reviews in that children are left to run free whilst the parents sit drinking... we personally never allow are children to visit the play area without us even tho at 5 and 10 they are more than capable of doing so. The wardens do there rounds quite often and if they see any unruly behaviour they do address it... so well done to them..I had to to move a gang of children from the toilet block as they were playing hide and seek in them and my 5 year wanted to go toilet but wouldn’t... it’s a shame these parents don’t seem to care where there children are....there are a lot of dogs here too and not everyone cleans up after themselves so watch out..all in all well definitely be back again but no where near that play area!

Yet another great stay

We stayed at the site over the bank holiday weekend and once again found it to be one of the best sites we stay on. Facilities are clean and well maintained and despite numerous other reviews about unfriendly wardens I find them quite the opposite. Yes they will pull you up if you are endangering others by driving in excess of 5mph but so they should as there are many young children about. I do agree with another reviewer that on the more open pitches you are constantly worried about cyclists taking short cuts through your pitch but this is down to parents educating their charges on etiquette. The big plus of Ferry Meadows is its access to the Nene Park and its plethora of activities.

Disappointing visit this year!

We embarked on our yearly visit to Ferry Meadows which is a family meeting point. We have been coming here for a good number of years now. It is a 4hr drive from our base but it has always been worth it. So far our holidays have been fantastic. Facilities brill, staff brill and location excellent. However, this year has left us all with a bitter taste. The site has always been great for families and dogs for which we have 4. Yes 4 as I can already hear some members gasping. This year we brought our youngest dog 6 month old pup. She is obviously still in training and I'm proud to say the other 3 have turned out ok. Like humans they are not perfect. One afternoon we left 2 of our dogs in the van. We popped out for some food and left them 4 hrs. We don't leave them any longer. Upon our return which was before 9pm we were met with the 2 (new) wardens who pleasantly said ( I quote) "have you had a nice evening?" We thought that's nice so we politely said "yes tgank you" the male warden then said in a patronising voice "well you've spoilt it for everyone else your dog is howling" . We were very apologetic and I made my way to the van whilst he continued to have a go at my partner. Firstly we apologised for our dog howling which I know wasn't for 4 hrs as I asked another friendly member. Secondly this was not late at night. And thirdly there is no reason to be spoken to in this manner. I've held my breath until now. I wish the person who complained could have approached us before running to the warden. I did not realise I had to tip for around.the site. I did not complain a few niggts previous about the noise level coming from the rally field after 11pm nor did I complain about the same warden who the next day had the cheek to ask me and my family to move whilst he cut the grass around our van. I could argue this spoilt our peace! And he covered the bottom of pur awnibg with the cuttings. The other staff were fantastic. It was my holiday to and if people want total silence they need a different site. Good job they moved off before the family opposite arrived with 3 kids and 2 dogs eh?
