Love this site ... not the ice cream van

Have been here a few times over the years. Love the location and it’s proximity to the Nene Valley country park. The overhauled play area is awesome. I think one or two of the wardens need to relax a tad... 11 year old daughter going in the wrong direction on the roads ... seriously, told to turn around an follow the flow? The main reason for knocking the points off was really related to the ice cream van. Parked just by my pitch for 25mins with his engine running. Not good when you can taste the fumes in your drinks. A couple of time the queue disappeared and he was about to move to his next point (20m along) when someone raced up. Tomorrow evening I’ll risk the wrath of the wardens and move my car to stop him parking there.

Great site ... not so great members (not all though)

Fourth visit here and absolutely love it , great for cycling and walking with plenty for the kids to do. Despite being a large site it is not overly noisy and the wardens do a great job. The behaviour of some of the members, however is absolutely disgusting. I must start with the cleanliness of the toilets both male and female were the worst me and my partner have ever seen - toilet paper everywhere, urine on cubicle floors, people shaving and not washing the basin afterwards and the most disturbing was my partner told me used sanitry items left in the womens shower cubicles !!!!!! BY NO MEANS AM I HAVING A GO AT THE WARDENS , they done their best cleaning the mens THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY . This is completely unacceptable and I doubt very much its "just kids" . By the way I was informed that the site contained ONLY MEMBERS that particular weekend so this makes it all the worse that members are abusing the facilities and in my opinion abusing the wardens with this behaviour. Also what is it about the speed limit people don't get !!! its there to keep people safe , but no, at 12 new arrivals were tearing around trying to find the best pitch regardless of loads of children in the road. come on (some of) you lot get your act together and start being a bit more responsible.

A reasonably relaxing stay apart from the grass cutting at 08:30 and the poor Wifi

After a break of over 10 years, we decided to come back to the site, mainly for the cycling. Nice and flat. The site is in a good location and is pretty easy to get to. I followed the sat nav rather than the Caravan Club directions and, from memory of following the club directions on our last visit, it was far easier to get to using the sat nav. The staff were very pleasant and I am sure that nothing would be too much trouble. Usual clean site facities. The TV reception is VERY poor so I would advise that you use the booster service. There is a fish and chip van comes on site on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The same company also "sends" and ice cream van round in an evening and the icecream is pretty good, but it is expensive. The nearby Nene park is beautiful and there are a couple of cafe's and you can ride round the lake with relative ease. There are a few activities that you can do on the water although the beer is very expensive at the waterside cafe / bar. On Ham lane, you will find the Ferry Meadows station, worth a look at and also a Beefeater pub and Norcutts Garden Centre. Averall, a relaxing visit but it would have been even better if the staff were not out on the tractor at 08:30 cutting the grass and emptying the bins! Also, we paid for the Club WiFi but to be honest it was pretty rubbish - even the club site timed out when loading up. I suspect that this is due to the number of pitches on the site so an increase in the bandwidth would go a long way.

Great first visit

What a lovely site in a great location. The wardens were very knowledgeable and always had a smile and a wave. Facilities were clean and warm, only criticism was one washing machine is not enough on a large site I had to wait for over an hour to get my washing done. First time in this area and we will return hopefully later this year.

First timer

This was the first time using a club site and if the others are of the same standard they must be very good. Spotlessly clean site and toilet and shower block was very impressive. Luckily weather was good so enjoyed the country park next door with the dog. Wardens are fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. Will determinately be back.

Lovely site.

Just back from a long weekend at this lovely site. Check in was fast and we were able to choose our own pitch. All the staff were friendly and helpful. This site has the biggest toilet/shower block we've come across and is spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. The country park is a short walk away as is the Nene valley railway. We were recommended this site by a couple we met on our travels and were not disappointed. A real credit to the staff.

Added value....gun dog trainer

Visited Ferry Meadows over the Easter bank holiday, weather was awful, but hey ho we just have to make the most of it. Sunday morning taking our three cocker spaniels out for a walk, one of the wardens stopped for a chat. The puppy Billy, wearing his halti and pulling all the time....the warden said 'I used to train those to the gun, bet he pulls like a train and you can't stop him'. Yes, pretty much. 'I can stop him', so handing over the lead to the warden, he promptly showed us how it should be done! Result amazing.....we are trying to keep it up but we will be back for more advice. As always the site was very well maintained and the country park is amazing for dog owners. It was also pleasing to see the way that the wardens handled the new arrivals ensuring that there were no long queues blocking the road to the country park. Thank you to all the wardens (especially the gun dog trainer).

Campervan Visit March 2018

Weekday visit in the snow. Busy site - directions would be simplified by just following the brown signs to Nene Country Park. Staff very friendly and facilities were excellent with plenty of really hot water in the showers. Ideally located for walking and cycling around the countryside as well as walking into Peterborough. Only let down by the motorhome service point which is not easily accessible for vans with emptying and filling points on the offside (UK) of the vehicle, meaning reversing in contrary to the one way system.

We'll be back

We had a week here just after the recent snow cleared, and although we had plenty of rain our hardstanding drained perfectly well. This was not true of the pitch next door or all the site roadways, but there were plenty of pitches available, so this was no great problem. We've used this site a few times as it's not too far from home and a great place to take a dog, with an enormous park next door and a network of footpaths nearby which seem to go all around Peterborough.
