We first came to this site in late 90's. It has changed somewhat since then, but waking to the sound of woodpeckers remains. Having a rescue dog. Our own "Irish Traveller", an Irish Red & White Setter bitch called Amber. This was doggy heaven for her first time away in our caravan. She absolutely loved it. The wooded walks on her doorstep, plus the Fire Hills and beach close by were her a delight, and ours. The site remains, as we remember it, - very quiet, wonderfully clean and tidy everywhere. Friendly and exceptionally helpful Wardens who helped direct me to nearest Halfords to buy a replacement leisure battery, as ours completely failed whilst using the van mover. If I have one small reservation, it is not the site, but the narrow lane to access it. Fortunately, all those approaching us on our way to and from the site whilst towing, helpfully positioned their vehicles in order that we could proceed with very little hassle. We mainly use CL's as our caravan has all onboard facilities. However, it was great to reacquaint ourselves with this gem of a site. We'll be back!
A wonderful place for a quiet stay in nature
Lovely setting in woodland, spacious pitches, helpful staff, spotless facilities, wonderful walking on your doorstep. And a short walk through woods and fields to a friendly pub with decent food. Will definitely return.
A gem of a site
Having the need for a short break away from home we picked this site to give it a try. What a lovely spot in the woods. Proximity to one of the local pubs and also links via bus into Hastings all worked well for us. The wardens were just brilliant - welcoming, helpful and informative - as Arnie would say "we'll be back"
Lovely quiet location !
Stayed for a week. Staff were terrific, friendly and helpful. The woods surrounding the site are full of flowers and birds, although there are quite a few muddy ponds for dogs to roll in.
Pitches were good, facilities were spotless, particularly liked the doors on the washing up area, on chilly nights its quite useful. My only criticism was the approach to the site which is quite a long narrow road and I also found the directions confusing, although once found they did make a kind of sense. Altogether a lovely weeks holiday within easy reach of Hastings and the beautiful nearby Fairlight country park...not to be missed if you have dogs. The local pub is great although it gets crowded and you'll need to reserve a table if you want to eat. Excellent site ,,full marks

Total peace.
Set up a small road, this smallish site sits in a clearing in the woods. Sat out in the sun all you can hear is a lot of bird song and distant woodpeckers. No car noise or anything.
The site is always kept immaculate and clean. Clive and Margaret are very friendly and happy to help with anything. They do keep office hours, but live on site so are there for immediate help and advice.
Within 45 minutes of driving is a vast amount of countryside and coast to discover.
So we thoroughly enjoyed it and will be planning to return.
You MUST arrive by the given route. Every other way that a satnav may suggest is far too narrow or steep for towing.
Regarding other reviews about child noise and games: this site is so quiet that even one child playing and shouting back to parents could shatter it, unlike slightly adding to the background noise of bigger family sites. Also on the central grass area all the caravans are sited on the periphery whilst the hook-ups are more in the middle, resulting in long power leads draped across the grass and so maybe a risk to playing? However, there were children playing whilst we were there, they didn't cause any problems and there didn't seem to be any constraints placed on them.

Friendliest site
This was the first of many club sites we have used during our 17 day tour through England and Scotland and was the reason we have continued to use club sites but we have not yet found another site to match the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at this site. The site is small but lovely set in a small forest - there is also an amazing pub just a short stroll across the forest that serves amazing meals. Would thoroughly recommend this site for couples who like peace, quiet and leisurely strools in forests.

First class site but not for families really
Stayed a couple of nights and site is as described by the CM C . Despite its beauty and quietness be careful if you have family/kids its not a site for groups. ' No ball games ' signs and I note the odd comment on some of the posts on these reviews about noisy kids etc. Thats a shame. The wardens are fabulous and site is clean, to a very high standard. Local pub is dog friendly and great food and a short walk away. Noticed a sign in reception , 'only one at a time inside'. I just wonder if the CMC is just too sign heavy at times....it makes me sigh ,,,,the site could easily be advertised as 'adults only' it has that feeling.
You must try the site though to see a beautiful bit of woodland perhaps the best in the country. Do try the walk to the beach at Pett level but if you come back in the twilight or dark the roads are very narrow. Take a good torch with you to the site for the walk back from the pub!
First Trip of the Year
First time visiting this site. Received a warm welcome and the site was spotlessly clean. A good quite site with really nice woodland walks very close by. Will return in the future.
