Quite and relaxing site.

Our booking was a last minute decision following a visit to a non-club site that was less than sub-standard. Our three night stay at Fairlight wood was just what we needed, peaceful location with great wardens providing a super service. Good pub within walking distance and a very large wood for dog walking. Will be returning to this site for sure.

Beautiful Site

We have just spent 3 nights at this site and it was perfect. Quiet, peaceful and clean. The wardens on the site were VERY helpful, giving advice on motorhome parking in the area and where to visit on a trip out. The shower facilities were very good, warm and clean. We cant think of a downside to this site and we will definitely be visiting it again. We found it easy to park our motorhome in Hastings and Rye ( thanks to the help of the site warden) but it was nigh on impossible to find anywhere to park at Camber sands, the height restrictions in the car parks need to be lifted. This site is a little gem.

September was perfect for staying here

We enjoyed this site. It was peaceful (being out of school holidays). The site was well maintained and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The situation was idyllic and we would definitely wish to stay there again. The only down side for us was that it was difficult to find parking in Rye or Hastings for a 2.6 metre motor home as we would have as we would have like to have taken time walking around the towns.

Not if you would like a lie-in or lazy morning!

This is a lovely site, but not if you would like a lie-in in the morning. The wake up call of the warden using the leaf blower to clear the pathways just after 9.00 am every day was really annoying, especially when the site is advertised as peaceful and quiet. I do appreciate that people could slip on leaves, but why could this not have been done at a later hour? The whole reason for going away was to recuperate after illness and best case scenario would be to have a lie-in, a late breakfast followed by a visit to the shower block, which of course, is shut from 10.30 am until 12.00 am so that wouldn't work, especially if one doesn't have one's own facilities (small camper van etc). Quote from the Caravan Club “We expect everyone to be up and off the site by 10.30 am.” WHY? We are on holiday! How is that public sites manage to clean their shower blocks in the afternoon when most people are out and about? I don’t want to sound a grump, but it seems others agree with these sentiments (see September magazine page 10) and saying nothing for me was not an option. If you agree, please contact the Caravan and Motorhome club and maybe, just maybe, things might change.

A pleasant and well kept site

Fairlight Wood caravan site is a lovely, pleasant and well kept site in the woods. On arrival, we found the female warden's tone inappropriate and unnecessary - her people skills could be improved. The male warden was lovely, very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Perhaps this was a bad day as other reviews are very good. There seem to be a lot of rules and regulations at this site, but it seems the most important rules have been missed. What happened to quiet times? Throughout our stay, people were filling up their water butts very early morning, some were even packing up. A caravan left at 5.30am - really! Perhaps, another rule should be included: 'quiet times' or 'consideration to others.' Some pitches are in the shade most of the day, but picking your pitch can be problematic at this site as you can't book in advance. It would also be nice to be able to get a paper or small essentials at a nearby shop. The positives: the facilities are spotless and a real credit to the staff. The site is a short drive away from Hastings and Rye - both lovely places to visits. The dog walks were great and our pooches has a great time. The nearby pub: 'The Two Sawyers' is a total delight and well worth a visit. The food is delicious, staff are lovely and it has a great ambiance. The walk from the site through the woods was very pleasant - the dogs loved it. A good plan to take a torch with you if you do for dinner

Fairly good

Nice setting but choose your pitch carefully as ours (last one available) was in the shade all day. Facilities good but only 3 gents which caused a queue one morning for a sit down. Great dog walk in the woods across the road. Easy walk through woods to the Two Sawyers pub, good food but very busy on the day we went. Overall pretty good apart from the members opposite it. It was one of their birthdays and the sat outside all day and most of the evening drinking, getting louder and passing comments about sexuality, race etc. which should have been kept to themselves, and their 3 dogs were not on leads but the wardens just ignored it.

A lovely setting

Just returned from a week at this lovely site. Wonderfully arranged pitches amongst the trees; quiet location and, as no specific facilties for amusing children, this a haven for us teachers! The ablution block was spotlessly clean and the whole site well managed. The walk to the local pub (The Two Sawyers) is well marked from the site and - as other reviewers have stated - well worth a visit. Great location for exploring Sussex and Kent. Plenty in these areas to do so we will definitely be visiting again. WARNING: like many modern travellers we used a SatNav to get to Fairlight (travelling from Essex).  If travelling from the East/North and you do want a better postcode TN35 4LW takes you to the White Hart PH, Guestling where you turn immediately LEFT (opposite the pub) and then reprogram SatNav to TN35 4HY for the site. It is narrow roadway but there are passing places.

Beautiful site among the trees

We have visited this site on two occasions and have not been disappointed . Our grandchildren love it there, especially the woods to play in and walk through . When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the courteous and friendly staff who booked us in. The toilets were spotlessly clean and the site altogether clean and tidy. A credit to the staff.

Peace and Tranquility in the Forest

What an excellent site. Small, but perfectly formed as they say and is a haven of peace and tranquility. Facilities are well up to standard and spotless. The site is in a woodland setting with easy access to the adjacent Guestling Wood for dog walking, or just walking yourself and admiring the wildlife. In the other direction, a 5 minute woodland walk takes you to "The Two Sawyers" a smashing old English pub, with great food and ales. It's also dog friendly. A gem of a site, not to be missed.
