A return visit

Visited for a week in September. After being there at Easter, snow, rain, sun, blue skies, a great return....but traveled home on the day of storm Ali. Not for the feint hearted. Site is spotless as add the showers and toilet facilities. A credit to the wardens who tirelessly worked on through wind and storm. A great dog walk and well organised. Gave 5 for peace and quiet, occasionally interrupted by landing planes. Edinburgh has 100,000+ aircraft movements a year. Used Flightradar and could see and identify every plane in and out. Had to buy an aquaroll and wardens directed me to Go outdoors a mile or so away...written down complete with postcode from memory. They are a great bunch. We'd booked an evening river cruise from south queensferry, vist to the castle, Jamie Oliver's Italian and a return visit to Britannia at Leith. Could have stayed another week.

Great time in Edinburgh

We have just spent days 10 days at this site. The site is clean and tidy and the wardens are friendly and helpful. There is some noise from the planes flying into Edinburgh Airport but nothing to disturb you, after all you are on a city site not a rural one. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, inspite of the rain. Excellent mini bus service into the city. Thank you Graham. Loads of things to see and do in an interesting with a fascinating history. The only noise to disturb us was from the inconsiderate people in the next door caravan who were sitting in their awning laughing and talking until 1 am !!

Ok Site

Just arrived home after spending 5 nights at Edinburgh caravan club site and need a sleep. Site being on the flight path was an issue for us as we are light sleepers even although I wear earplugs. We feel it is a nice site very clean and the little bus service that they run was excellent but I’m afraid the noise was too much for us - on the Saturday night boy racers on the road which runs alongside. Its a big site and busy made if feel a bit crowded and not good had to queue for shower in ladies. Wardens are great and keep the place clean and tidy.

Lock up at night

Cracking club site to experience Edinburgh etc, everything nipping clean wardens first class, but this site has a problem with thefts through the night,we were there a few days ago and the people next to us had all there bikes stolen from the back of there mobile home.We were all shocked the next morning apparently the bad guys climbed over the the fence and just helped them self’s to their gear . The police asked if we herd or saw anything, but no one had, after a short conversation with the police it’s not the first time this has happened so please be vigilant and really lock your things away, don’t let these maggots ruin your holidays!!!

Excellent site and wardens

Must agree with most comments made previously; yes there is some aircraft and road noise but you are in a capital city, if you want peace and tranquillity I’m sure there are many other sites in Scotland which are more suited. Other than that, the site is ideally situated for Edinburgh with superb transport links, the facilities are spotless and the wardens tireless in their pursuit of a well maintained site. Whilst on the subject of the wardens, I would state that these are possibly the most friendliest, most welcoming and helpful wardens I have met. Congratulations and thanks to all. If it wasn’t for the fact that the site is 314 miles from home we’d be back more regularly!!!

Fantastic Fringe

This is the third time we have stayed at this site to visit the Edinburgh Fringe and we have already booked for next year. The site is beautifully kept and staff are so helpful and friendly. There is some noise from planes and, on some pitches, from the road but this did not disturb us. The only thing that did disturb us was the barking dog on the pitch opposite. Would appreciate people keeping their dogs quiet especially late at night. Despite the fact that a lot of people only seemed to stay for a few days we found it to be a friendly site and met lots of lovely people while travelling to and from the festival. The only negative we have about this site is the lack of sufficient toilets and showers as we sometimes had to queue to use both facilities. I suggest that some of the washbasin cubicles, which are rarely used, be turned into showers or toilets or the blocks extended to accommodate extra facilities.

Using site for a visit to the Miltary Tattoo

We stayed here for 4 nights in August 2018. Not much can be added to all the previous reviews for this site. As expected, the site was very busy but it never really felt that way – apart from the vans in the overnight parking area awaiting the next day to be able to book in! Others have commented on the “vibe” of the site & we concur with that. Our main reason to visit was to attend the Military Tattoo and the bus service was ideal for getting in & out. There are two stops close by, both about 15 minutes walk away. One takes you directly to the centre – the other one is via. the north part of the city coming in from Leith. It is one price per trip at £1.70 although an all day rover ticket is available at £4. No change is given on the bus, so ensure you have hoarded your coinage before hand! The promenade walk is close by and is ideal for dog walking or cycling. Whilst we might complain about the cost per night [£34], the site was convenient for us for a specific event, so we had to “bite the bullet”, as they say!

Excellent site, with easy access to city centre

Stayed here for 3 nights during Edinburgh Festival. We cannot praise staff highly enough. Always friendly and very helpful and doing their best to make sure that all visitors have a good time staying here. The location is excellent with a 10 minute walk to local buses to city centre with option to use minibus which actually calls at Reception! The site is a 5 minute walk from the banks of the Firth of Forth and a walk along the promenade to the lovely visit of Crammond is well worth it. We didn't find the noise from landing aircraft obtrusive - perhaps we are of an age where our hearing is not 'tuned in' to background noise?! To put into context, we met friends who were staying at at Airbandb i the city and paying over £100 a night! Highly recommended and we will certainly be back to visit the other attractions in the area.

Excellent campsite

Visited during the Edinburgh Fringe during a really bust period. Could not fault the site or the wonderful staff, nothing too much bother very informative and helpful. Must mention the Pick up and drop off Bus driver Graham, Wonderful person very knowledgeable and very helpful. Great guy. We have used this site quite a lot and just love it, could be quieter as near as a busy road but apart from that give it 5 stars all the time.

Beautiful well kept and immaculately clean site, lovely friendly staff but not for us

We had been touring the Scottish highlands and had booked a 3 night stay to end our Scottish adventure and break up part of the journey back to Essex. We only stayed the one night and checked out the following morning, this site really wasn't for us, although it must be one of the best kept and clean sites we have ever been too, the staff are amazing, very friendly and helpful, our decision not stay is not a reflection on them but purely our decision to leave for a quieter location. We have a 12 year old son who still comes camping with us and he loves nothing more than to go out and explore on his bike, we felt we couldn't let him do this because of the warning we received upon checking in,to ensure we kept bikes locked inside if at all possible and very definitely locked at all times. We then read that the dog walk to the shore was locked from 8.00pm until the morning, which also made us feel uneasy about being broken into or having belongings stolen. Plane noise, we was woken up at 5.45am to the noise of planes coming into land at Edinburgh airport, we live near Stansted and regularly drive into London, but we was on holiday and had been so spoilt with the peace and tranquility of the highlands for the past 10 days, we therefore found this to be intolerable and too much of a shock. The satellite would not work on our pitch due to the tall trees
