Brilliant staff and site - excellent in all respects

This is a very well kept site. The facilities are exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We were able to use the local bus service into Edinburgh, get a train to Glasgow and enjoy local walks all enhanced by good service information at the site. I note other reviews refer to the noise of planes. Personally I did not find this a problem and slept well as the environment was so peaceful. Other negative comments referred to poor lighting - again I did not notice any light deficit at night. Top review for us will hopefully be back to such a great site. Thank you to the staff.

One of the best

Just returned from another fantastic weekend at this Club site. We really cannot recommend it highly enough as it ticks so many boxes, from the hearty welcome, excellent pitches and facilities and the best on site dog walk we have ever come across. The location is also excellent whether for the big city or the seashore. If you haven't visited yet - you should !

Fantastic site

This was our first trip to a club site since joining. The first thing to say is that the lady site warden was simply fantastic - she made us very welcome, gave us great advice and always had a smile on her face - she's a credit to the site and to the club. The site is close to Cramond Foreshore which is accessed from across the road from the front of the site. The walk along the promenade is lovely and there's a cafe as well. You are a short drive from major supermarkets and a 20 min drive from Portobello beach. The site is lovely, spotless and quiet. We'll be back!

Great place to stay for the Six Nations

This is the second time we have stayed at the Edinburgh club site and will certainly return. Access to the site is stress-free and simple from the Edinburgh City Bypass. Check-in is brief, professional and very helpful. The staff are always happy to help and keep the site spick and span. There's an information centre with maps and leaflets about what to do in the area. The site houses a lot of vans but it never feels overcrowded. All the facilities you need are on site (water, EHU, grey disposal, recycling and bins, clean and warm shower and toilets, plus laundry and washing up areas) and well maintained. There is a great walk along the Firth of Forth within five minutes of your door. Public transport is regular, inexpensive and reliable. It's close to some excellent cycle and walking routes in to the city or along the estuary.

Pleasant Stay - No Shop

Stayed here early January. Very friendly reception, found a flat pitch, so no levelling blocks required (some have gentle slopes). We felt the site is missing a trick; there is no shop, you can't buy anything or order fresh bread for the next morning. The site is about 500 yards from nearest bus stop and then another 300 yards to the nearest store - so arrive with a full larder. There is a great Riverside walk 500 yards from the site (in the opposite direction to the shops and bus stop). The price of a bus ticket into the centre of Edinburgh is £1.70 - excellent value, plenty of buses. Would have given the site 5 stars for peace and quiet but it is close to the flight path of the airport, so it could be quieter. We live only 60 miles from the site but we will be using it again as it is an excellent location if you're having a night out in Edinburgh.

Fantastic Stay

I've just had a night here and it's been one of the best stays I've experienced. I had the warmest of welcomes and was given loads of information on the bus routes and fares. After pitching my caravan I took their advice and took the 10 min walk to the bus stop (number 27) and I paid £4 for a day ticket. The bus dropped me in George 4th Street and from there I had a really good walk around the city centre and stretched my calves walking up to the summit of Arthur's Seat. The site was superb, very well maintained, clean and the wash rooms were clean and warm. In the morning I went for another walk, this time turning left from the site and walking along the water front to Cramond Island. If you want walk to the island, which you can do at low tide, there are notices everywhere showing the times of the tide, sadly, I had missed the tide, so, couldn't get to the island. This site is definitely on my list of "must return" sites. Well done folks, see you again in the future.

Needs a facelift

Enjoyed a couple of nights here to visit the Christmas market. Wardens extremely nice and friendly. Us Scots won't pay the £6 return charge for the minibus service as we have free travel on the buses. About a twenty minute walk to the nearest bus stop and you can go straight to city centre. Buses are every 10 mins. We have been coming to this site for many years and it really is getting very tired and in need of a refurbish. Toilets don't flush well and certainly needs more shower cubicles.

What’s with the no lighting

I’m all for helping the environment but can I ask why there is no lighting on this site apart from at entrance and at the electric points. Anybody arriving after dark would have difficulty finding pitch numbers then filling up on water etc. For those of us who arrived in daylight, if you want to top up on water, take rubbish to bins or empty your Elsan after dark, then forget it. It’s pitch black you can’t see a thing. If you want to turn lights out to save power then I suggest doing this from 11pm till 7am. As it stands, the lights being out all the time, just make it very dangerous. You can’t use service points points after 4:30, that’s not convenient. I’m not very happy with my visit this time, some things need sorting.
