Great site but stay secure

We booked in for 3 nights as we had stayed here many times before. The two toilet blocks are clean. It is not a far walk to the bus stop into the city and a single is £1.70. During this visit the car was stolen as the culprits stealthily removed the fob for the car in the middle of the night. They were seen on CCTV manually lifting the exit barrier and driving off. The car was recovered that afternoon as I was able to track the car on the internet. The police told me that the usual suspects would be watching from the tower block to the south for likely targets. So please secure your van and car. The wardens were great as we had to book extra on a nightly basis until forensics were complete. We will return but we now lock the van even when we are sitting in it to build the habit. I guess we all feel totally relaxed and safe on site behind a barrier.

Edinburgh a wee gem of a site

Close enough to the smoke of Auld Reekie and on the coast but far enough away to feel an escape from the hubbub of City life. Great location for exploring East Lothian and the Borders we took in Dunbar, Haddington, Musselborough, North Berwick both North and South Queensferry and more locally Leith. The site staff and the facilities were excellent I will definitely visit this one again.

Welcome Easter Break.

Decided to spend a few days in the Nations Capital, and was impressed with the location and previous reviews to date. Arrived on Sun 1st April and was made very welcome by the site wardens. The weather was terrible, but plenty of hot water to keep warm in the shower blocks. Close by to Edinburgh City centre, and the Ocean Terminal shopping centre and Tour of the Royal Yacht Brittannia was a great way to spend a wet windy and cold afternoon. Skiing up at Glenshee was a bonus for the children, and there was plenty of snow on the slopes, even into April. Would like to return one day to spend more time on the shore side during the Summer months. Can highly recommend this site.

Great site but!

Clean site and facilities as you would expect. Excellent friendly staff. However.... Don't take your bike. The site has installed lockers to keep your bikes in as they apparently had some thefts from site. There are cycle paths to the city centre but they are not pleasant. Litter galore, no nice views and I'm not sure the area was the nicest! etc. We cycled to the city centre (about 4 or 5 miles) and both our bikes were stolen in a very short space of time despite being securely locked in front of a taxi rank and literally round the corner from the castle. The police had the perpetrators on cctv for what good it achieves. A bike extremely similar to mine appeared on Gumtree about 3 hours after it was stolen and about 3 miles from scene of crime. The Police told us bike theft was on the increase at present and it was probably my bike but they could do nothing about it. This is no reflection on the site however which was great especially if you wish to explore the city which despite our loss was lovely. Just my advise. Catch the bus. It is easy walking distance to the stop and 4 pounds gets you a travel all day pass. We would have cycled the next day but.....

Easter Break

This is a lovely site, which is very close to the seafront and the attractions of Edinburgh. Friendly wardens and the site is spotless. Some aircraft noise with departures around 0620 but you soon get used to this. The directions in the book are quite difficult to follow and if travelling from the A1, the SAT NAV will bring you via Leith, which could be difficult at peak times. I would recommend using the taxi bus from the site if you are in a group, excellent service.

Great site for City Break

The staff keep this site in splendid condition. Great level hardstands. Toilets very clean. Bus services to city centre not too far or drive to Ingliston Park and Ride (free parking) and get the tram into city centre. Lovely walks along shore to Cramond with great eateries. Fabulous site. On the flight path to Edinburgh Airport so can be a bit noisy, other than that superb.

Great site to visit Edinburgh

I only rated this three star for peace and quiet as you are on the flight path for Edinburgh Airport, however being a city site you are not exactly going to have a tranquil country getaway, the site itself is quiet except for the old plane travelling overhead every 15-20 minutes. The site is well kept and the team here do a great job of dealing with any queries. We had a lovely Easter break and the site was a great base to visit the city, with public transport being only 15 minutes walk from the site, would recommend this site if you are looking to visit Edinburgh. We will be back again.
