Enjoyable stay At Culloden, the site is a few miles outside Inverness, based in a quiet area, however, there is a busy road that runs next to the site. Small play area and wide open space good for children.
What an eye opener to what is available when you join such an organisation
Only had a campervan for the past 6 weeks and so joined the club after visiting a few "private sites" in Scotland.
Wow, I repeat wow! Being a novice to this all, I could not have been treated better by the site managers, who took the time to explain things to me. Yes the pitches slope a bit, but being on my own I do not have ramps as I would probably drive off the end of them, so they told me the best pitches to choose from.
Services are spotless and so well maintained, even the bins looked like they had been cleaned inside and out!
Honestly, if this is the standard of conditions I can expect as a member on other sites, its got to be the best money I have ever spent (well, apart from the campervan of course).
Thank you so much for making my first trip to a club site such a fantastic experience, I stayed two nights and could have stayed a lot longer. I look forward to returning again in the near future.
Sorry I have not told you places to visit close by, but the warm welcome I received deserves all the praise and words in my review.

A great site
We stayed here in September for a couple of nights on our way North. Care is required to follow the directions on the website for the last few miles following the B9006 from the A9 as sat navs may try and bring you off early onto a small B road, (B851). On site, a one way system has been created with some turns which we found a little tight being 8.13 long and I note this has been subject of comments previously. It would seem that the original exit was been fenced off which had it still been open would have actually been a lot easier for us to get off site, but now a tight turn around the toilet block is required. Site facilities are nice and clean, bus stop within easy reach allowing access to Inverness. Nearest shopping is Tesco in Inverness with fuel also available.
Excellent
We have used Culloden Moor on several occassions in the past and always found the wardens very helpful and friendly. The site is well positioned for visiting many of the famous tourist spots in the Highlands, including of course the fantastic Culloden Battle site, run by the Scottish National Trust. The site itself is well managed on a sloping area, so blocks and ramps are needed on most pitches. These are available at reception if you forget your own. The facilities are always kept spotless by the wardens and it is a real pity that whilst we were there some fellow club members couldn't be bothered to treat the facilities with the respect they deserve. The mess left in one of the gents was quite frankly disgusting. People just need to remember what loo brushes are there for!! The dog walking area next to the site is ok but we tended to drive the short distance to the battle site to walk our young pup, who thoroughly enjoyed all the attention he got from the many tourists visiting the site. A trip to the Black Isle should be on everybodies itineray and I can recommend the pizzas at Souters Creek, although booking is essential. The Dutch Cheese shop should also not be missed and the local Cromarty real ale is another must try. The city of Inverness is also a must and there are just too many eateries there to mention. A walk along the river Ness is another simple treat. Overall, this is a site that can't really be faulted, it is just other members who seem to think rules don't apply to them thay spoil it for the rest of us.
Handy location for highlands
We have visited the Inverness and Nairn areas for about 40 years as we have family living in the area. Weve tried a few campsites in the general area but found Culloden the easiest to find and the most handy to see a wide variety of places in the area. Although we concentrated on Nairn, Elgin and the Strathspey area with our own knowledge we can see how handy it is for Fort William, the far north (route 500 as it is now called), Ross and Cromarty (to see those Dolphins at Chanonary point) and so much more.
We agree about the sloping pitches and those with the best views seemed to have the most sloping pitches and do agree that it would be wonderful if they could be made just a little more level but the pitch we were on was no worse than many other pitches on other sites.
The staff were very friendly, the site had a warm atmosphere. The B road was quite busy during the day but very quiet at night. No problems with dogs noise as someone mentioned in a previous review so I guess they might have been unlucky.
This was our sort of site and I am sure it will be a regular site for us when we visit family. It was good for children (ask our 6 year old granddaughter!) and for the dogs too and even for 2 grandparents.

Peace and Quiet
This is our second time visiting this site this year. The facilities are excellent and kept very clean. There is a great area in the adjoining woods for dog walking.
The pitches are a challenge! Thankfully we just have a small VW Campervan so levelling isn't too much of a problem but there are very few pitches (if any) that don't require levelling ramps. We stayed on pitch 10 and it was interesting to watch the large motorhomes / caravans manoeuvre the corner without either catching the fencing or the large rock placed there! I think there needs to be some thought given to widening that area to avoid costly damage to vehicles!
That aside, it's a great site if you want peace and quiet and to be woken by the farm cockerel nearby. Enjoy :-)
Uneven pitches
Nice enough site but could be great . I think we got one of the few pitches that was levelish. Most pitches were so sloping that putting anawning up would practically be impossible as the front or rear of the van would be feet in the air.
Facilities are pretty good and spotlessly clean.
Good
really quiet and isolated place. excellent dog area, inside the forest. I think the only problem is the fact that every pitches is not level, especially those in the first and second part of the pitch. moreover, the maneuver spaces are very narrow. there is a single point for the exhaust for the motorhome, but I really appreciated the fish and chips that you could buy them in the field. no activity for boys. but if you want to be quiet and spend your time watching the stars here is the place for you.
Un-level pitches
Not many level pitches on this site and that’s both side to side and front to back. Some pitches need terracing doing.
Too many tight corners on site to negotiate round, saw a few people have problems getting round the first bend and others !
Pitch 10 needs removing to allow an easier corner and better access for motorhomes to use the service point.
EVERY vehicle has to pass the kids play area at some point (nobody seems to have considered the health & safety of this), be it when entering or leaving the site. You literally have to drive a full circuit of the site. It has been changed in the past as you can still see the original road markings.
It is the most ridiculous one way system I’ve ever been on.
Some traffic noise from road.
Stayed a week but wouldn’t return, this area of Scotland is not for me, West is best !
Easy access to Battlefield attraction. Nairn is nice place.
Wardens seemed nice enough
Culloden in the sun
We have recently spent two dsys at this site. Very impressed at the facilities and yhe location. The site has lovely views and is well placed for visits to the local area. The pitch sizes are very generous. We will most certainly return, next time for longer stay
