Coniston Park ~ Trees and Tranquility

This is no landscaped garden setting but it is a stunningly beautiful and restful location. Extremely well ordered and run like clockwork by the staff team. The site leans towards family accommodation but there are plenty of quiet pitches out in the open or under the canopy of the trees. We had particularly wet weather … non stop rain for 48 hours ~  bouncing down. We walked, visited three National Trust sites ~ Town End Farmhouse  (You have to visit this house and grounds!) Allan Bank at Grassmere and Sizergh Castle All 3 NT properties are great for rainy days or indeed any day. Folk with youngsters will also enjoy the Pencil Museum at Keswick. Coniston is a very large and busy site but the staff are like those swans on the lake … paddling away like crazy but appearing calm on the surface. At busy times staff are zipping around behind the reception desk despatching members to various pitches with haste. This took us by surprise but then realised that they have a lot to do and are not being brusque ~ for in the quieter moments they are as friendly and helpful as you could wish for. The site shop is a real strength. A very above average range of groceries and other items. Very well stocked.A boon for the semi forgetful~ like us. Thank You

We will be back

Had a very good four days at the site, such a variety of pitches. It was like having multiple sites in one - quiet and peaceful, busy and active by the large play areas. Easy access it the lake for swimming and boating. Lots to do in local area, need a revisit to seemore.

Amazing

First time at this site but it will not be the last! Beautiful location, well maintained site, facilities spotless, staff very helpful and friendly staff, great walks for dogs and loads of amazing places to visit nearby. We have had an amazing holiday and can't wait to visit again. One important thing do not use a sat nav but follow the directions in the caravan club booklet if you want a stress free journey.

What is needed to relax and enjoy

Wardens were very friendly and helpful, Site was so relaxing and the facilities were spotless. Walking to Coniston along the pathway was a pleasure walking away from the traffic. Will definite use the Site again.

Great site and location

Just had an overnight stop here as my first adventure in my newly purchased motorhome.  The site is lovely and doesn't feel anywhere near as big as it is due to the way the pitches are laid out amongst the trees. You are able to drive around and pick your pitch, it can be quite a long walk back to reception to get your fob and keys but as its so beautiful it didn't bother me. We were on pitch 207 which was probably as far away from reception as you can get and a good 5 min walk to the nearest toilet block but it was a lovely spot with the sun filtering through the trees and quiet, until the evening when it got a bit rowdy in a neighbouring campsite! It's not a flat site, my mum (75) needed her walker to help her get around but we were able to enjoy a lovely walk down to the water through another campsite and you can walk into Coniston via that route too. Will definitely go back again and stay for longer. You do need an ariel cable which they sell at reception but I'm sure it's cheaper to buy elsewhere! Toilet, showers and washing up facilities where very clean and tidy. All in all a great site!

Autumnal stay at the Coppice site in July

The site is perfectly located above Coniston Water with excellent walking available from the site. We stayed on this site for 10 days in July and it was cold and rained most days unfortunately this made the pitch quite muddy as the surface appeared to consist of a few stones sprinkled on top of mud. The wardens were friendly and helpful as they always are and the facilities were clean if a bit cold and drafty. Overall an excellent base from which to explore this part of the lakes, especially if it is sunny.

A Frequent Visitor

We have visited this site four times in the last eighteen months in every season but the deep winter. It is our favourite CC site, the facilities are excellent and splendidly looked after by extremely friendly, helpful wardens. Caravanning here is a treat as one pitches in clearings with just a few caravans around you. The walking in every direction is breathtaking and whether one walks up the lake or down the lake there is a decent pub waiting. Access to the rest of the National Park is easy. The forest setting is delightful whether in full sunshine or indeed snow. My wife and I thoroughly recommend this site. We look forward to swapping our Peak District home for this site again in the not too distant future.

Close to forest site

This is an excellent site, we visit every year.  The roads are tricky but worth it.  Nice location for cyclists with close proximity to Coniston.  Plenty too do in surrounding locations close to Coniston water.  Excellent clean site.

not enough facilities for such a large site

To is a really nice site in a beautiful location. As a large site I was surprised in the distance I had to go to reach a toilet/ shower block. This was the only down side, the site is well looked after and has access to a fantastic corner of the country.
