Lovely site

On our late arrival we pitched at the late arrivals, plenty of space, checked for a pitch in the morning found a suitable pitch and we were set up by 10:30.Site has great access to walks and the coniston lake stayed for a week found wardens very friendly and we were sorry to leave,we will definitely return one point to note is that nearly all pitches are under trees so it can get noisy when it rains but we expected this and is part of the attraction of the site.

unusual site..one of the best

The site is situated among many trees, all pitches are cleverly placed between trees in hollows and in unexpected dells.Very pretty, such a change from the usual lines of vans.Much more like some continental sites.Walks are great with easy access to lake and wood walks.Facilities are almost brand new, spotless.TV needs booster cables, phone is ok. Wifi tends to be slow.Good for dogs and when we went plenty of choice of pitches.Wardens efficient and businesslike. The leaf blower needs a silencer though..horendous thing.Overall great place.

A beautiful quiet site great for families

We stayed here with our friends who are "tenters" and wanted to show them how great caravan club sites are: This site did not disappoint. They were overwhelmed with the quality of the facilities and also the quietness despite it being quite busy.  It is a large site but there are many trees which means that if you get there early enough or when its not busy, you can drive around and find your little nook to pitch up in. Because of the trees, remember your aerial cable... the shop there sell them if you forget though! A short walk and you are on the shoreline of lake Coniston. Our dogs loved a walk down there and everyone was very friendly. The pitches are not level, but you cannot expect them to be in this area. The site is on quite a slope so it may not be suitable for all. Our son however loved the slopes as it meant he picked up considerable speed on his trike going downhill (he's two).  Loved it here and will be back.

Nice site

Some road noise if you have a pitch near the top of the site.  Think next time I would head down to the Lake more.  I didn't mind the lack of view by the trees at all but appreciate not everyone will feel the same.  Wardens very friendly and helpful.  Good shop on site.  My main moan is how slow the wifi is. When you pay to use it it's very irritating for it to take up to five mins for a webpage to open!  Plenty of nice walks in the area.  Shops and pubs in Coniston.

Spotless facilities.

What a difference ! We had just spent a week on the Isle Of Man, a rather basic campsite costing about the same as Coniston. It made me think how good Caravan Club sites are. Spotless facilities, beautiful location, SPOTLESS FACILITIES. No grime in the showers, dazzling white porcelain, no mould growth around the sinks, all you would expect from The Caravan Club !

Forgot how lovely this site is

We had not been at this site for over ten years with our caravan.  Now we have a campervan and have recently rejoined the CC again.  The wardens were super friendly and helpful.  The site is beautiiful, and even though it is large, the small little coppices give an intimate feel.  The only disappointment was the visit from the Fish and Chip van that was recommended by other reiviews, as they ran out of fish within the first hour and ended up paying £10 for sausage and chips!  We will definately be back soon.

Take an umbrella

We stayed here for a week in mid June. It's quite a large site but the way its set out makes you think it is smaller. Our pitch, 178, was constantly wet considering it was hard standing but one has to expect this with the amount of rain we had during our stay. The toilet blocks are kept spotless although some pitches will have fair way to walk. WiFi is available but was a bit hit and miss during our stay. The surrounding area is breathtaking which makes the location of this site 5 stars. Conistion village is about a 2 mile walk from the site, the route taking you through a campsite and along a footpath. A great site and one we will be visiting again.

It doesn't feel like a big site!

Our first time on a CC site, very professional set up at check in, helpful staff explained choice of pitches, which were quieter areas etc We chose a quiet pitch in amongst the trees so a bit shady, but loads of space between the pitches, not laid out regularly so a nice small site feel. Very good facilities, clean , warm, very hot water, lots of waste and recycling points. Drive over waste for motorhome's is good, TV booster system is a bonus as reception probably not good otherwise. Plenty of play areas for children make it a good site for families. Coniston is a good 20mins walk away, so a bit of a downside, however part on on railway line, part on road some without footpath so take a torch for nights. Good pubs and shops in the village well worth a visit. There is a local pub a short walk away. Site has easy access to lakeshore and also old railway line towards Torver to start other walks. The area is beautiful and a Coniston could easily become a favourite!
