Fantastic site

We've just spent a week here.  Beautiful location, very clean facilities. Walking distance to the lake and centre of Coniston.  Staff very helpful and friendly. Would visit again.

Quick stop on the way north

We had an overnight stop at the Conniston Park Coppice on the way North to Dunfrees and Galloway. Unfortunately the weather was poor throughout the entire stay so it accentuated the dim and gloomy atmosphere on the site. The site is built into part of the lakeside forest/woods and at this time of year the pitches are fully covered by foliage. So even when it was not raining the were large drops of water falling on the caravan roof.  The pitch we had was large and well separated from others, close to the very well presented toilet block but not very level, so requiring the use of large rocks to put under the steadies. Site staff were very friendly and helpful. A point worth mentioning though, but not site related, access to Coniston whilst towing a caravan can be harrowing. Fortunately we did not meet much large traffic coming the other way because A roads in the lakes are not the same as elsewhere in the country.

First visit to site

Surprisingly quiet site when we visited first weekend of August, we were concerned with it being a big site it would be noisy in school holidays with children, because of its layout with nooks and crannies you don't realise the size once pitched. A warning though this is a hilly site so anyone with walking issues be wary where you pitch, we found a lovely quiet pitch but caused me breathing problems getting to the facilities. The 400 yards to the Lake also seems a bit scant and again this is down some steep hills to get there and you go through a commercial campsite to get there, which although pleasant felt wrong. Others have said about road access, yes the last 10 miles are tight but well worth the journey. Nice walk to Coniston Pier on a good accessible path for all. We will visit again I'm sure will just be more careful where we pitch.

Great site - will be back

This is a great site in a great location. The facilities are very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. You get to pick your pitch which we thought was good and they also gave us a recommendation of good pitches for us. They had an event on with the Mountain rescue when we were there which was fun and good value. The layout of the site we thought was great as although there were a lot of people there the site never felt overcrowded. We will definitely be back.

Great site

This is a great site, in a brilliant location. Facilities are excellent, and kept very clean. The wardens were also friendly and very helpful. Finding a pitch is a bit of a lottery, and we ended up beside one of the play areas, which was a bad move, as it got pretty noisy in the evenings. Best to stay at the top of the site if you want peace and quiet. Watch out for kids screaming down the hills on their bikes and scooters though. For lake access, I recommend walking along to the shingle beaches just North of the Coniston ferry landing. Great for swimming and messing around in boats.

Our 3 night visit.

Good clean site wardens take great care to reach a good all-round standard, wardens are all great to get on with and get info from when needed. A bit of a lottery finding pitches due to different lay-out but all good when finally finding one to suit our needs. Fantastic area lots to do and be seen near-by. Is a must to return again soon. Thanks to all.

Summer Party raised £710.86

The warden team would like to give a massive thanks to all who contributed to the success of our 'Party in the Park Coppice' which raised monies for Coniston Mountain Rescue. We hope you all enjoyed our site and the party and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Charming site with fantastic wardens

This site is different to those Caravan Club sites we've been to previously as in order to keep the forest feel the pitches mostly work round where the trees and woodland is so its a bit hap hazard where some people pitch up and some pitches are not obvious. It makes finding a pitch a bit tricky, but we found a great one and our friendly new neighbours helped push it back into the hard to reach spot. The wardens are wonderful, friendly and helpful, and they really take care of the site. They have a hard job as we saw quite a few dog poo's left around which they attended to quickly but they really should have been cleaned up by the dog owners themselves. Lovely walk into Coniston and within easy reach of Ambleside and Windermere. We enjoyed our 3 night stay.
