A Bit Dark And Damp

We stopped at this site for 3 nights and found a suitable pitch difficult to find. The pitching areas are mostly dark and damp due to extensive over hanging trees. Most pitches are small uneven and awkward to access, if you are aware of this then you know what to expect but the site book description isn't accurate. The site facilities were good and the toilet blocks clean. It's a pity that members cannot clean out the showers after themselves which spoils the experience. We went for a meal at the Wilson Arms at Torver and can recommend it.

Disappointed

Our first time here, had to drive around site twice to find a pitch suitable for our 'van as not all pitches suitable for larger units. Because of location in tree's the site never gets chance to dry out so mud on and around pitches is a problem, the site is hilly and toilet blocks are located at the top and bottom which are a distance apart. The picture in the CC handbook looked nothing like site. If you like camping in dense woodland you'll love it but it's not for us - love it or hate it !!

Visit 13th - 17th Septhember 2016

This was our first time at a Caravan Club site and we were impressed. A beautiful site with easy walking access to the lake. Very helpful staff who were willing to help novices like us.The facilities were extremely clean and well looked after. We will definitely be visiting again and bringing friends too!

Good site

We were here in July for a weekend. What a huge site - perhaps the biggest of the CC? But since the site is built at different height levels and is divided in cul-de-sacs, you don't really notice. As all CC sites we have visited, this one is also clean and well maintained. The wardens are helpful and funny :-) On Sunday we made a beautiful walk along the lake and had a nice lunch at the pier of Coniston.

Visit 9th-12th September 2016

We had an amazing time. Fantastic site, really friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help with any queries. Really good location as we were able to walk into village along lake shore with our two dogs. All in all a fabulous long weekend.

Great time

Just had five days here, great site, the staff very friendly and very helpful, couldn't do enough to help. The toilet blocks and showers were some of the cleanest I have seen. The site is set in woodlands and we were down at the bottom close to the lake, which made for some great walks around the lake and into the village of Coniston. No complaints at all, we had a fabulous time.

Fabulous site

Brilliant access to the lake for any watersport. Lovely walk into Coniston village and Torver in the opposite direction. Really lovely staff and wardens. Had a wonderful week here.

Large site

Great site for Coniston and lakes perhaps little large and lots of trees that do have an impact.roads round lake bit narrow had interesting maneuver with a large coach but all done with smiles and understanding. Could do with more watering up points.

Beautiful woodland site

We spent a week here towards the end of August. It is a large site, set among trees and near the lake. Our pitch was fine on sunny days, in a shady spot, but on wet days the trees seemed to be holding onto the rain so that it continued to fall on us when it had stopped elsewhere! Apart from that it was a lovely site. Excellent shower block and everywhere beautifully kept, in a wild woodland setting. The walk into Coniston along the Cumbrian Way was very scenic and took us about 40 minutes. A walk of about 20 minutes from the reception area took us to The Ship, a lovely country pub with decent bar meals. We enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning.
