PICTURE PERFECT

Wow, this is a beautiful site. It is perfect for families, couples and groups. There are lovely secluded pitches within the woods or there are more open ones near to the childrens area. Excellent location for people that enjoy water sports as the lake is at the bottom of the site. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing too much trouble. I like that the toilet block near the pitch that we had (no 6) is not cleaned until 1530 hours so plenty of time in a morning to use the facilities. The only thing I would like to make people aware of is that the pitch we had (no6) doesn't have brilliant wifi, so if you are reliant on that then not the pitch for you. this didn't bother me as not an essential criteria for my holiday. The autumn does bring the acorns falling from the trees which sometimes made you jump but to be expected in such a beautiful location. The site is steep in places but is expected in the lakes, and the pitches are uneven in places but again you are in the middle of a forest and it does highlight this in the information when you book, so take the levellers and you will be fine. Love this site

Coniston Park Coppice

Site is well located for south Lake District, toilet and the shower facilities are very good. Some of the pitches were very uneven, dark and very wet/damp, partly due to the "natural look" that the pitches have which is at odds with the reception area which was manicured to the extent of leaf blowers used most mornings for an hour or more to move the falling leaves around! Holiday was spoilt for us by the almost aggressive and dictatorial attitude of some of the wardens shouting out their interpretation of the site rules across the site, while ignoring others (5 mph speed limit), making us question if customer service training is provided? The sites and club are run for the members, not the wardens!

Message from The Club:

Peace and quiet

Set in an oak forest it is a beautiful place. Access along 5 miles of winding narrow lanes can be exciting but the peace and quiet of the site is worth the effort, you may not agree if you go in autumn as the acorns bounce off your roof in the night. The locality, a national park, is made for walking or water sports but not really for window shopping, only small tourist shops nearby. The site is on a fairly steep hill and is huge, you need to be fairly fit. Buses run into Coniston but only 4 or 5 per day, walking is easy but the path is covered in sheep and cattle poo, not to be done at night after a few drinks! A beautiful place staffed by friendly helpful people. We enjoyed our time there

First class site

We stayed here for a three night autumn break and were delighted with both the site and the location. We usually prefer CL's but this was a great alternative, quiet, well run, clean and convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities first class, would definitely recommend and use again!

Nice Break

We stayed for three lovely nights and found the site to be very clean and tidy. The Wardens were very pleasant and did a great job during our stay. The toilet block that we used was exceptional.

nice site

have been three times in total. Nice and quiet can be quite muddy and slippery walking into town though. Road can be a bit dangerous as no foot paths (not CC fault) didn't use facilities as has our own. Its quite a big site. Lovely friendly pub about 15/20 mins walk away nice atmosphere and food

Autumn Visit to Coniston

Enjoyed a pleasant stay at Coniston. Site staff very helpful and efficient. We had a large 8m unit and the approach roads need care. It was fine this time of year but not sure what it would be like in the summer. Main road approaching site can be busy from both directions. When walking into Coniston it is advisable to take the lake side footpath and avoid the road - too any inconsiderate motorists for comfort. On the whole very enjoyable and can recommend

Our first visit, we will definitely be back!

Excellent site, best late arrivals facilities we've seen. Friendly, helpful staff throughout our visit. Choice of pitches, ours was very generous space in wooded area. Unfortunately, from the night off arrival through to the night before departure there was very heavy rain but site drains well and good roads through site make mud free walking easy. Excellent, spotless facilities. Lovely walks to Coniston. Great base for exploring other lakes and surrounding area. Thank you very much, we will definitely be back!

A very pleasant stay

We arrived at the Coniston site and were immediately impressed with the warm welcome from reception especially Paul who was so helpful during the whole of our two day stay. I agree with other reviewers that it's best to drive round the whole site before plumping for a site to stay, we camped in 229 which was excellent, flat, plenty fo room and only slightly covered with trees. The campsite is split up into nicely named areas but the map of the site that we were given did not show any of these names so was not as helpful as it could be. Also the detail was so small we had difficulty in finding motorhome service points, that aside it was a super site and we enjoyed the walk into Coniston especially after Paul out pointed the short cuts we could take.
