This was our first visit to this campsite. With limited pitches open in February, the site was full but very quiet, which suited us. Facilities were great - all very clean and tidy. Coniston itself is about a 40 mins walk alongside the lake, with good pub and restaurant facilities. Will visit again.
The site is well laid out and pitches are well spaced. The site is in woodland which is not my favourite kind of site since it is a bit claustrophobic and, in summer, I suspect, a bit dark. There is therefore no view to be had from the site. That said, it is a ten minute walk to the lakeside and there's loads of views there! The pitches are generally flat but a a few are on a bit of a slope.
The toilets are clean and site is well maintained. There is a playpark for kids which is fine. The Friday chip van is very good but a wee bit expensive if you are counting the pennies.
Certainly ideal for walks and outdoorsy stuff. Nearest pub is about 20-25 minutes walk there and about an hour to crawl back in the dark.
Worth visiting and will return.
Our first visit to a club site since joining.Lovely clean and warm facilities the wardens work hard to keep the site looking loved ( A tough call in the woods this time of year) they were welcoming friendly and helpful .Walking from the site is easy with loads of options .Coniston is an easy walk by the lake and a bit muddier via the railway path but worth it to eat at the Ship Inn. Our hopes are high for future visits already booked to go back in March.
Stayed at Coppice Park mid-January despite the gloomy weather forecast, we were there three nights over a weekend and had a great stay. Dry weather until the Sunday night when the heavens opened.
The site was partially closed due to the time of year but still plenty of room for the number of visitors. Huge site with well-spaced pitches in a wooded area, all hardstanding, many on a bit of a slope so levelling blocks required. Easy walk to Coniston lake with walks alongside the lake as far as Coniston village and beyond.
Excellent toilet/shower block with plenty of facilities. Easy access to water, waste points and chemical disposal.
Staff in reception very welcoming and helpful with good knowledge of the local area.
A very friendly site with really helpful wardens. We spent time during Winter when the lower part of the site is closed and it is very quiet. In Summer the site is busy and family oriented. Really like the natural feel of the location (obviously amidst many trees) and the direct access to the lake shore. No negatives, but drivers should be aware that the road from Greenodd to the site does have quite a few narrow and bendy sections - care is definitely required. Some pitches will require leveling ramps / blocks - not a problem as long as you have some! There was work being done to relay the surface of pitches whilst we were there - totally unobtrusive and good news for the upcoming season.
Stayed here in Early January 2018. Quiet site, very clean facilities with friendly and helpful staff. Easy walk to Coniston and Bluebird Cafe. Ship Inn was within easy walking distance. Will definitely visit again. Very dog friendly.
Although late in the season, it was good to return here if only for an overnight stay. Although only the upper section of the site was open, the pleasure here is having very natural pitches between the trees and being on such a peaceful site. Toilets/showers are spotless and were lovely and warm, which was appreciated. Location is the bonus with direct access to the lakeshore walk on Coniston Water. Our fifth visit, always delighted to return.
On a site in the Lake District in November, in a converted T5 transporter was not so warm, but the washing facilities were hot! It was great to get into the very clean toilet block! The only problem was that the nearest plot to the toilet block did not have any TV, so we had to move to the other side of the block, which meant that I had to walk up steps and round to the other side of the block with a fractured kneecap. The site was very quiet, the noisiest thing being the tawny owl and the geese. Great for adults, not so good for older children, but the playground was good for younger children. Will have to time our next visit for when the schools are still in but weather a bit warmer.
We booked this site last minute, we couldn't get in any sites that were open in November close to home so ended up here. So glad we did. Two thirds of the site was closed but what WAS open was big enough and lovely.
I cant wait to see the site in the summer in full bloom, it is very natural and your not on top of each other, nice spaced out pitches, surrounded by nature.
There is a lovely walk off the site along the Lake along to the nearest town, its pathed all the way and takes about 30 mins depending how fast or slow you walk. The town has several Pubs, cafes, and shops. Also access to the pier where you can go on boat rides on the lake, where there is also a lovely restaurant overlooking the Lake.
If your feeling energetic theres THE OLD MAN to climb up...we will do it next time!!!!
The wardens on this site are really lovely, nice happy attitude , happy to help and make you feel very welcome.
We defiantly will go back to this site infact I may go for the New year weather permitting.
