Great Pizza!

Just spent over a week on the site. Site was clean and tidy, and nicely spread out. We had no problems whilst we were there. The food at the takeaway van was first class! Great honest food with quality ingredients! Great job all round!

5 mph NOT

Stayed here for over a week and had a thoroughly fantastic time. Great for accessing Coniston, it’s lake, Torver and the fells. Site is well maintained and the facilities are very clean. Once again though on a club site people towing caravans are not able to travel at 5 mph. Some are travelling well over 25 mph just because they’re in a rush to find a pitch. They do not realise they are putting people at a risk - Seriously injure someone, or worse. More speed humps are needed up and down the hill from pitch 29. Most visitors on the site are friendly and considerate. There was however one family who thought it was okay for their toddler to scream and shout outside from 7:30AM on the day of their departure. Their dog was also barking for the full two hours before they left.

Brilliant

I love this site & my third stay with my grandchildren. The pitches are located in lovely wooded enclaves. Despite the number of pitches the site never feels crowded & busy even when full. The whole site has a very natural & rural feel & great for a wander. Despite the excellent Covid safety regulations we were never in a queue for the facilities. Obtaining replacement a gas cylinder was a simple telephone order & pay procedure & was ready to collect straight away. Park Coppice is in an idyllic location for easy access to Coniston Water for water activities or just a stroll into the village. We felt completely safe throughout our stay.

Lovely week in The Lakes

After reading some recent poor reviews, I thought I had to put a positive post on! We first visited Coniston Park Coppice in our tent 25 years ago, and it was the first place on our list after recently buying a camper van. The site is still as lovely as we remember, and a great location being a short walk from the lake, and approx 10-15 minute walk across fields to Coniston town. Although the site and some pitches are on a bit of a slope, we found a lovely spot and without the need of levelling blocks. The site is quite unique as in the pitches are in amongst the trees and quite quirky, rather than some sites looking more like a car park! The toilet blocks were clean and tidy, and clearly signed when they were closed for cleaning, and more importantly were adhering to COVID guidelines.

rather disappointing

Could be so much better, my worst club site experience in over 40 years of on off membership. On arrival I was told what colour marker I needed to pitch on. However I was not told where the limited available ones were, so after driving around the site and in and out of several small pitch areas I finally ended up finding a pitch almost back at the entrance. During my stay I saw many people driving around and around the site sometimes passing my van several times looking for an available pitch. would it not be better to show us on a map which were available for our outfit to avoid having to drive round and round this fairly complicated site. On my second day the toilet block nearest me and a number of service points were closed for several days due to 'pump issue'. this for some of us was quite a trek for to fill and empty water and use alternate toilet facility surely on a site with three blocks which rely on pumps to move waste, spare pump should be available to enable them to be switched quickly in case of breakdown. I am afraid I have to say my previous week on a caravan and camping club site was far better in all respects. I will be seriously considering my membership at renewal time if my next club site is not a better experience

Disapointing end to lock down.

I have visited this site several times and always enjoyed it. Even taking into account the difficulties due to the Pandemic I would have thought the basic site maintenance would have been able to be carried out.The taps at the service point were leaking profusely, the Elsan point resulting in soaked feet(should have had wellies on) I did not use the toilet/shower block as it was out of commission the whole of my stay.(surely due to the amount of people booked into the site this could have been dealt with prior to opening the site)?? The abundance of yapping dogs was annoying .surely dog owners have to take responsibility..?? or are non dog owners expected to tolerate the nuisance as dogs have priority???not the peace and quiet previously experienced at this site and a general feeling that the wardens although I am sure are working hard were not switched on to the issues on site.

Not a typical CAMC

Hi ,if your used to the usual well looked after well set out clean CAMC this really is not for you, firstly It’s on a long hill that you will be out of breath by the time you walk from bottom to top but your in the Lake District I suppose so ok ish but when walking about people had all sorts of blocks chocks and inventions as pitches very uneven to say the least, we were right at the top in which resembled a car park not nice at all, there were 3 toilet blocks at 3 different levels going down the site but our one at the top was closed due to pump probs ?? Which was causing problems to the next block down backing up but not that it needs explaining but when you have you morning walk to the block in the morning to find it closed then got to walk down hill to the next to que then back up the hill not a pleasant experience, took my kayak and was looking forwards to going on the lake but from bottom gate was way too far to carry my kayak so found myself driving into town every time to put it in, not what I was expecting at all ,oh and my wife said staff was rude at the desk as it was a chore to explain things, if you was booking a pitch without a awning don’t book one with even if you don’t have one as on this large site there is only around 10 pitch’s your choose from after a very very long drive from Essex gotta say this site put me really down in the dumps and couldn’t wait to leave to which after all of our touring around the country at CAMC sites have never Said before even my wife who is easy going to say the least said never coming back here, and we left early to go to another site BUT please don’t let this put you off the area as really is stunning just don’t stay here ,in my opinion.

Needs money spending

Last visited this site about 3 years ago. How things have changed! The toilet blocks are still reasonably good but that’s about the only plus point. The pitches have been totally ignored and most have only a sparse covering of slate/hardcore and grass and moss cover the floor. There is hardly a level pitch on the entire site. Compare this to the new experience freedom part of the site with the shiny new pods and airstream caravans that are for hire. You can see where the club has spent its money- not on the members part! We also had issues with wardens. We sited are motorhome and later in the day another 2 units parked on the adjacent pitches. The following day I was told to move as I wasn’t 6 metre away, despite me being first on site! Shame really as it could be a fantastic site

Disappointing and not looked after - noisy dogs too

This is an interesting site that could be great. But it seems too large for the wardens to properly look after. The site seems uncared for. When we stayed there was loud behaviour on quite a number of pitches - including constantly barking dogs. There was no evidence of the wardens around the site other than to empty the bins and clean the blocks. This seems more like a cheap commercial site rather than a club site.

Disappointed

If you like the well manicured club sites don’t come here. Some of the pitches are really poor. The access to the site is not good with twisty narrow lanes, not ideal with an 8ft wide motorhome towing a car. This site has two camping pods, approx 8 log cabins and two £100k twin wheeled airstreams sites. You can seen where the money from the expensive site fees is being spent, certainly not on maintaining the pitches. Won’t be back.
