Peaceful and well run site

A peaceful and well run site in a lovely location, all facilities immaculate. Many thanks to the wardens for contacting us and forwarding our lost key on so thoughtfully. Only a stopover for us but visited Shaws House nearby which was worthwhile.

First time visit - wont be our last

What a gem of a site. We have been meaning to try this site for a long time ad We're glad we did. Lovely quite site, wardens where very friendly, toilet block was spotless, and nice big pitches. If your taking your dog's, this site is pure heaven. There is a lovely walk through the woods next to the site and further afield there are great parks and woods to explore. Especially Panshanger park (10 minutes down the road by car) and the Lee Valley Country park is about 20 minutes away. Can't wait to return!!

Nice site

Site is tidy. Wardens are friendly. Toilets are clean. Nice park nearby. Handy for shops. Pitches are a bit on the small side and there is some road noise in the mornings through the week. Nice site worth a visit.

Second visit

We booked for 4 nights to help our daughter move into her new flat in St Albans prior to giving birth 4 weeks later. On the second day of our stay she was rushed into Luton hospital and gave premature birth to our grandson. Clearly we wanted to stay on and thanks to the understanding of the brilliant wardens Gordon & Christine Milne we were able to extend despite it being Easter weekend. What a relief. Amazing that such a busy site relied on the hard work of just two people. They were superb. Clearly we will be using this site frequently from now on enjoying our grandson during the day but escaping to the sanctuary of the caravan for a peaceful night. Highly recommended but not for cycling. Too much fast traffic!

Visited this site a few times last year and it was brilliant just been back again and I am still very impressed. Wardens very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. Site immaculate and so are the toilet blocks. The site is very quiet and a great dog walk next to the site. Just booked my next stay on the site and really looking forward to it.

Returning Visitor

I visit Commons Wood site a few times a year for weekends, it's just a few miles from my home, my family can visit and getting into Welwyn Garden City for John Lewis is very easy. The new wardens are very welcoming, and were being particularly nice to a member who had accidentally broken the site barrier (ouch!); they were also thoughtful in choosing not to use noisy equipment on what was a lovely sunny afternoon so people were sitting outside their units relaxing. Thanks for a great stay.

First time.

As this is our first caravan & we are using the storage area at commons wood we thought it would be a good idea to spend a couple of days getting used to how thing works & the sites operate. Very impressive facilities great staff & most helpful if all the cub sites are to this standard looking forward to visiting others in the near future. Andy & Tracey.

Visiting London

Space for car and awning limited on our pitch. No play area for children, but there is a green and a wood. Easy access for buses and trains into London. Toilet facilities good and everything needed. Overall quiet and peaceful, with everything you need, although a few areas could improve to match other sites.

Mothers Days weekend stay...

Efficient and polite site manager swiftly booked us into the system, identified available pitches and we selected ours off the site plan, negating the need to return to the site office as the staff were taking advantage of the weather to trim the grass. Quickly set up on a very flat and well compacted hard standing had the kettle on in double quick time as we didn't have the awning for the weekend. Facilities spotless as always, service points strategically placed around the site, provided all the necessities required. Very good information cabin, provides all the details that campers would need. Off site noise at a minimum over the weekend however adjacent building works may prove noisy during the week. Found getting to the site from A1 okay but concentration required as many roundabouts in close proximity to each other could lead to confusion. Would definitely use again...
