no signage

poor directional signage from the main road? also the entrance no illumination at night, if you are arriving after 16.30 in the winter you can not see the signs for the camp site, plus the road to the main barrier was very uneven. every thing else was excellent on site as was the site wardens.

Great place to stay, with friendly staff

Stayed here for three nights in November. The staff are so friendly and very helpful and are always busy making sure the site is well cared for. We love the layout of the site which has some of the largest pitches we have come across. We will definitely be visiting again in the future and have no hesitation in recommending the site and it's staff to others.

Great site for visiting London

Visited this site In October for the second time as it's ideal for commuting into London. Easy to get to from the A1 and the site is clean and tidy. The wardens are very helpful. Would consider booking again and recommend staying here if you plan to visit the Capital.

Great stay at Common's Wood !

We decided to stay at Common's Wood (3 nights), never having been here before. What a gem! For us it was perfect for walking (35 mins) to the Welwyn Garden City station to catch the train for visiting London. However, if walking is not your thing, there are numerous buses that go from outside the site by the QE2 Hospital to the train station. Common's Wood is smaller than the other Caravan Club London sites, very easy-going and relaxing, and very easy to find. We visited Hatfield House and grounds nearby. In future, we will always use Common's Wood for visiting London. We wished we had had the time to stay longer !

One night stay at Commons Wood

Just stayed for one night on our way 'up north'. We were also able to visit a friend in Radlett which is close by so two birds with one stone. Friendly welcome despite not arriving until nearly 6pm (later than we originally said - which must be so frustrating for the busy Wardens). Shower block warm and clean, pitch handy for everything. Happy with everything.

Recent stay and temporary storage

We have stayed on this site 4 times over the past couple of years and have found the staff to be extremely welcoming and accomodating in every respect. We have put our unit into temporary storage twice and found that access to the storage area is very easy. This site is ideal for us as our daughter and family live 20 minutes away, it is also ideally placed to visit London either by rail or car. We will obviously visiting this site again next year. Many thanks to the wardens.

Stop over at Commons wood

One night stop at Commons Wood. Easy to find. East to access. Staff friendly and helpful. Great for dogs, a country permissive footpath runs behind the site for those quick convenient walks. The staff will also give you directions to follow for a good 6 mile circular walk to Stanborough Lakes. Very nice. Pitches even and level. Toilets very clean. Great access etc to London. Slight downside and I mean a very slight downside next to a local cricket football club and the clubhouse is behind the hedge and there was a function the night we stayed until midnight. However, although a little loud not enough to really gripe about. Just be aware. Otherwise no problem at all.

Great place for a stop over or to see local area

Stayed here for 4 nights on way home from a trip to Kent. We wanted to be sited near to Hatfield House on 16th July for the 'Folk at the oak' festival and this site was exactly what was needed. The two wardens were very helpful and friendly during our stay and they worked very hard to maintain quality of the site and cleanliness of facilities - despite it being quite full with alot of short stay customers while we were.there Located within the triangle of Heathrow, Luton and Stanstead airports means that it is not a particularly quiet site, with planes over head from early morning until late evening but they are not too intrusive and after a couple of days they are easily forgotten........although are great fun for those of us who enjoy using Flightradar 24! We didn't have time to visit Welwyn garden City but were told by the wardens that it is well worth a look. We did go to St Albans though and would certainly recommend a trip there - both to the city which has a fine Cathedral with the longest Nave in the country, some interesting shops and restaurants and also to the Verulanium area of the old roman town at the bottom of the hill. This has a marvellous museum and some exquisite preserved roman mosaics and plasterwork. The Hatfield Galleria shopping centre is also nearby. We'd gladly stay her again in the future as it is also an ideal base from which to get into London by train and there are a number of places we still have to visit.

Excellent base for London City

First time on this site, already re-booked! Easy access from the North, saved us 100 miles (round trip) to the other London based sites. Very easy access into London Kings Cross. Lovely peaceful site, excellent facilities and most helpful wardens. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

Lovely stay and wonderful wardens.

It was great to see Gordon still there,as the last time we visited we needed a special pitch to enable us to arrive late, stay hooked up and leave very early,to drive into Central London, and he could not have been more helpful in arranging this. Nothing has changed in respect of the brilliant way in which the site is kept and run. Facilities immaculate, wardens very friendly and helpful. WHATS NOT TO LIKE,,,,,,WELL DONE EVERYONE.
