Lovely site

Lovely site just a 40min journey from Llanberis (start of Snowdon trail). Not much around the site so very quiet. Pub across the road serving food which I wouldn’t recommend. Site wardens very helpful and recommended us a spot out of the way of bad weather.

Eighth and final stop of Wales roadtrip

This was the last stop of our road trip. After caravanning for over 20 years we now have a campervan (Trigano Tribute), This was the first caravan club site we visited back in 1996 when we had a very tatty caravan! We asked to be sited out of the way and the warden said it didnt matter we were members of the caravan club and were very welcome!! Never forgot that! Our second visit was no different (cant understand previous reviews) Due to a mixup on a booking on another site we called to ask if we could come 2 days early warden more than helpful! Due to last minute change we arrived just after 5pm (had a phone call from the warden telling us they were closing the office and to ring the bell!) We apologised for being late and were told we werent late after 8pm was late!! Site not quite as we remembered obviously!! more hardstandings but a lovely site not all in a row as some sites which is just what we like! We went to the lake and walked over the bridge stunning views! and also Coed y Brenin great walks there and had a lovely lunch. So much for a memory lane trip we want to revisit nearly all of them and this one is high on the list!!

Will visit again

Just returned from the most recent of several visits and certainly I will be visiting again, but if I am honest that would be mostly down to the location and it's convenience for me rather than the site experience. Ref previous reviews I too had the parking issue on arrival. Basic problem in that the arrivals lane really only has room for one decent sized outfit and if that is full you have no choice to park on the other side of a site road. Not really causing any obstruction but I too had a slightly brusque 'don't get out of your car until you have moved up' shout from the reception. I can see it's a problem for staff at really busy times but there were only two outfits on a very wet Thursday in late September, bit of common sense and elasticity in 'rules' might be welcome. Otherwise staff were business like and efficient without really being welcoming and friendly. But it's subjective and we can't all be 'Bessies', can we?. Just a slight issue with manor and customer services issues to my mind. Lovely site. Nice pitches. Quiet, at least out of high season. Wet! Over six or seven years of visiting I have never left without wringing out underclothes at least once. But this is Snowdonia! Facilities? Ok at quiet times but not overly numerate and a bit old fashioned and cramped. Expect to wear your shower curtain as a toga! But the Scenery!..... Well worth a visit.

Not a good first and last visit

Well, The warden was rude and patronizing and made you feel unwelcome, Zero small talk just explained not to park where I did even though no no parking signs, My Club number was in the van and she asked to see it, I said it was in my van and she was so rude it was an understatement A lesson in customer service would benefit her greatly, The showers were disgusting with no room to move, If someone next to you was having a shower your feet and anything on the floor will be soaked by there water made me feel sick so I made sure I waited until the afternoon. I went to wales from Devon for a Photography Holiday which I couldn't fault but I couldn't wait to leave this site.

One vert poor warden

The site is standard CMC with lots of different sections in amongst the trees. Not easy to get a sunny pitch if that is your preference. The toilet/shower block is very clean but CMC standard 70's look. The information hut is excellent with the wardens own offerings of 'good days out with a dog' lists and lots of walks to follow. Sadly we had a horrendous arrival with the older of the two lady wardens. She ordered my husband out of the office with the dog, there weren't any "No Dogs" sign the door. She didn't welcome me or ask any of the normal 'journey, how far, traffic, type of questions. she highlighted the vacant pitches and told me to go and find my pitch and let her know. about 5 minutes later we were asking her husband if we could use a certain pitch, it had a bollard on the stones, but was marked as vacant, when she came round the corner shouting at him to get us to move our MH as it was big and blocking the drive so there was a queue, all of 3 outfits. He looked mortified! Later I went back to the office to notify her of our pitch number and I asked her about Heritage Trains and dogs. Her response was - no dogs on any of them, which is wrong. Go and look in the information booth, she ordered. I did and found that the CMC list of good days out with your dog contained 3 of the local train trips. She did however tell me how to catch the bus and where the bus stop was. Maybe we just caught her on a bad day but we avoided the office after that. The area is fabulous and there is so much to see and do that we shall return but maybe not to this site.

First Visit

Very peaceful site well spaced out. Good sized pitches & not on top of each other. Unfortunately could not get a TV signal (but could be down to me!), didn’t get to use the WiFi was only there for 2 nights, there were plenty of WiFi masts so next time will spend more than 2 nights as so much to see & do. This sight is perfect for visiting Wales & the staff are very helpful. The showers were excellent, nice hot water with a good pressure & the washing facilities were very clean & well illuminated. Lovely dog walking area. Excellent venture play ground for the children. Would defenetly vistit again (can’t wait).

One of Our Favourites

First visit to site, logged as a favourite. Lovely site, well layed out into small areas on different levels with large pitches. Shower block as standard CC but with useful annex with extra showers and toilet available when cleaning in progress. Great location to explore Snowdon National Park....Harlech beach great for dogs, Dolgoch Falls, Beddgelert super village, Criceith fish and chips, Zip world for adults and kids, railways again dog friendly and lots of walking potential...... from site to Lake side walk about 1.5 miles. Even managed the ascent of Snowdon summit into the clouds...well worth the effort of walking. WiFi best we have found on club site. Bryn Arms at the gate. Friendly pub with good food at good prices and dog friendly. Boys watched EPL on Sky and BT. Only negative would be that kids play facilities limited to the toddlers really...... good WiFi provided some compensation. In summary and great week for us at this great location....hope to return. Thanks to wardens for running this site in quiet and effectI've way.

The Msrstons North Wales Summer Tour 2018 with the kids and dogs

A very peaceful site whuch is respected by members at night. Wardens very friendly as well as facility staff. The Brynn Arms pub nearby very handy for meals / snacks and they allow dogs in their bar area. Good to reserve table as popular. Play area basic but limited due to terrain / slopes so site not great for bikes. Scooters ok around the site though. Information centre good as well as small shop with basic provisions. Be prepared to get bread, milk and locally sourced bacon, eggs and sausages early ( or the day before) from the wardens' shop as they are very popular with members! Toilet and showering facilities are excellent. Dog walk is small but you can go off site down the lane too if needed or around the site. Location of site for touring North Wales is excellent but be prepared to do own research on which venue allow dogs. Snowdon Mountain railway only allows registered assistance dogs up or down the mountain. However Ffestiniog Slate Mine has doggy day care facility and the Ffestiniog Steam train to Portmadoc allows them too as well as Criccieth and Harlec Castle. Dogs are also allowed on the beautiful sandy beach at Harlec so use the park n ride car park for beach and castle. The leisure centre also allows parking at £2 all day for anyone visiting Harlech but the park n ride is best. Do not attempt to try and park near the castle after 9am as will be impossible - very small car park. The Zipworld forest venue outside Betsycoed is worth a visit with coaster through the woods. Quite a bit of waiting around to do other activities so take a picnic. Dogs are also allowed - some walking in the woods from main site possible too. Eating out with dogs - dog friendly cafe in Wales is Cadwalanders we visited them in Portmadoc, Bets y Coed and Criccieth - great coffee and ice creams of all flavours. The Royal Sportsman Hotel down the high street near Tescos in Portmadoc also allows well behaved pets and does good food too and staff very friendly. In all a very good 12 nights at our caravan site, very friendly and helpful staff and would gladly stay there again with both kids and dogs. Thankyou wardens !

Gellilydan is the area

Coed-Y-Llwyn is the street name. No wonder no-one Welsh, knew where we were going. We thought it was an area until arriving. Nice site for all, plenty of different areas to choose Always clean and tidy

Great site and location

Overall fantastic. Great location and site layout, well spaced pitches. 2 points: 1. Play area backs onto some woods (maybe even a stream, can't remember!) which has no fence so we felt we had to be right next to our kids at all times. 2. Felt a bit unwelcome when I rang en route to explain we were stuck in traffic so may miss the 8pm cut-off. In the end we didn't but a little leeway on this rule, especially at the height of summer with the associated daylight, would be better IMO. Most people would be sensible or even follow instruction when it comes to noise when pitching (i.e. would only do basic set-up, no awning until the morning etc). I was left with the view if we were after 8pm we would literally be having to park in a lay-by or find an alternative site.
