Great Location

After reading some of the previous reviews, I felt compelled to redress the balance in what we found. It was our first visit to the site and although we only had a short stay, we will definitely return. Friendly, helpful wardens who worked hard to keep the site looking nice. We have a twin axle caravan and found the pitches to plenty big enough to accommodate our outfit plus an awning. Facilities were clean and served the purpose that they were there for. Good dog walk on site but plenty of walking straight out of the gate with a lovely, newly resurfaced path giving access to Lake Trawsfynydd. Lots of places within a short car drive to visit and if you get the weather, some fabulous beaches. I know you can only speak as you find, but we enjoyed it.

I hate dogs

Despite excellent dog walking areas some owners allow their dogs to foul the grass between the pitches. Only 1 shower working for 2 days something wrong with the temperature. Been on this site many times and the wardens are usually very good, after somebody vacants a site they have come and raked the pitch ready for the next camper, but didn't see this on any pitch. Excellent pub across the road serving food from 4 - 9 pm

Outdated facilities, small pitches, poor access and shocking electricity

Stayed here for two nights last weekend and the electricity kept going off for the whole site. Not an external fault just simply the site too busy to cope and kept tripping their main rcd. Contacted customer services by phone and seemed disinterested by phone and advised I would need to email. Facilities are tired. Motorhome service point is worst I have come across bar sites not having them. Some pitches are short some are massive. The pitch we stayed on only just fitted out 6.72m long motorhome on.

Bestest Dog Walk

Perfect location to explore the Snowdonia National Park with plenty of Walking and Cycling opportunities. Dog Walk is probably the most scenic one I’ve seen although this didn’t prevent a Caravanner allowing their Golden Retriever to foul the grass between pitches whilst they watched on. This has nothing to do with the site or the Wardens who couldn’t have been more helpful - very pleasant greeting on arrival. Handy Pub just outside the entrance too. With stunning scenery we would definitely return and stay for longer as on this occasion we were on a stop over on the way to Abersoch.

Great Location in the Heart of the Snowdonia National Park

Perfect location to explore the Snowdonia National Park. There's a cycle path just up the road that will get you over to Trawsfynydd Lake and on to the Coed-Y-Brenin MTB centre if need be. Plenty of great walks with the dog and the scenery is stunning. We use this site as a stopover on the way North quite a lot. The curry night in the Bryn Arms across the road is a belter, give it a go on a Friday. Really friendly staff and there were 3 different curry choices, along with rice, chips, poppadom and mango chutney :-). The rest of the menu looked good as well.

Watch out for acorns

We were on our second visit to the site, we found some lovely walks from the site, plenty of walking and cycling in the area. Also not far to some lovely seaside resorts of north Wales.

Purple Moose

Spent six nights here. Efficient friendly staff. Well maintained clean site. Good TV and mobile coverage (three). Despite the weather lots to do. We bought a years couple membership for £57 for CADW Castles and Historic places in Wales visited Harlech,Caernarfon,Beaumaris, Conwy,Criccieth castles membership allows half price English heritage sites. Did get a decent day to hike up Snowden.Pub near the site is really friendly new management needs support to maintain good facility near the site. Sky sports and I recommend the bottle beer from the local brewery Purple moose. Will visit again to visit more historic sites and do some walking in better weather!!

North Wales hols 2017 touring

We spent four nights in wind and rain but still enjoyed traveling to the many resorts to beat the weather. We did go to the Snowdon railway but the cloud was down so we opted for a trip over to Llandudno. Then Anglesey the next day. Porthmadog and Barmouth we did on the same day. We also enjoyed a walk in the forest amongst the Douglas Pines on the way to Dollgelau.

Lovely location

Site is easy to find off the A487. The approach through Gellilydan is a bit narrow as others have noted, but it is only a short section with cars parked outside owners houses and is not difficult. The welcome on arrival from site staff was friendly and check in efficient. The site layout is attractive with different pitching areas on different levels. Toilet facilities are good with a toilet/shower annexe building that is open when the main block is closed for cleaning. There is a very nice children's play area away from pitches, and a good information room. Wifi reception was good where we were pitched, and mobile telephone coverage good for our phones o2 and 3mobile especially considering the hilly nature of the countryside here. There are some very nice walks directly from site, and a newly refurbished pub just outside the site entrance with friendly new owners. Overall a very nice site in a very nice part of the country. We had one criticism which is aimed at other site users. That is the apparent lack of regard for the 5mph rule on sites. We have noticed people driving faster than 5mph on many sites but when we visited there seemed to be many more speeders here than normal. We saw one particular car race past our pitch (pitch 53) only to brake hard for the speed hump before proceeding down the steeper section of the road. These rules are there for a very good reason.
