Everything was fine until we had a problem

Everything was fine until we had a problem ,our electrical post/plug socket shorted out during our stay it happened at 20.30 hours so I had to ring the emergency number. I explained what had happened, was told it must be our electrical lead and this phone number was only for emergencies. I explained to them I had no electric so as far as I was concerned this was an emergency and in the end someone one of the site staff came out and tested the socket and said the socket was at fault but there was nothing they could do until the morning. Someone came out in the morning and told me that I might class it as an emergency but they wont so we could either stay with no electric or move pitch at which point I just walked away and rang the caravan club , and within ten minutes we were told an electrician would be out and it would be fixed today .We have pets and two children and a large awning so asking us to move was unacceptable as it would have used up best part of a day of our holiday and asking us to do without electric is just unacceptable .We have never had to complain before

Lovely site

This site is very nicely located and attractively laid out with some pitches with mountain views. As usual the wardens were very welcoming and friendly. The only downside was the wash locks. Clean as you would expect but short of showers. For a site this size 3 showers in each is not enough and leads to plenty of waiting. Outside the camp there is a pub. Beer selection poor. Food was ok, limited menu but reasonable value for money. The star of the show is the countryside , beaches and things to see. Harlech castle very impressive but awkward to get to up the hill and very little parking. There is a shuttle bus runs from the beach car park but the first sign to tell you of this is at the castle. You are spoilt for choice for beaches, all the way down the Lleyn peninsula, onto Anglesey just one after the other. Parking if not free is very cheap, certainly when compared to Cornwall and Devon! The narrow guage railways out of Porthmadog are not cheap. But certainly the Wales Highland Railway is spectacular and goes all the way passed Snowdon and onto Carnarfon. If you wish to take the train up to the summit of Snowdon ensure you book in advance. All in all a fantastically located site with plenty to keep you occupied.

wonderful experience in the end!

Firstly we have to give high praise to the wardens who were so very helpful in our predicament of having our movers locked on. They went all out to get us the help we needed and throughout our stay they continued to be supportive. The wardens gave the air of being proud of their site and this is born out by the way they run it. The site is immaculate and the pitches well spaced. The location is perfect for touring and there are so many beautiful locations to visit you are spoilt for choice. The nearby pub and restaurant serves good food. We were probably very lucky with the weather but all in all this is one of the best sites we have visited and would recommend it to any club member. Bunty Knight

Beautiful Location

Loved our time here, its a very quiet site, lots of things to travel to which were not to far away. Nice pub 2 mins from site which does food and had sky sports. Staff on the site were very lovely. Shower block was nice and clean. Would defo visit again. Wanted to go on the snowdonia train but we got there and it was fully booked so be advised to book in advance online. No shops near, nearest was about 20 mins by car. The reception sold a few items like milk and ice lollies. Nice size pitches. A very nice site would visit again.

This was a first!

Having managed to see a cancellation on-line, we set off to Coed y llwyn, which we visit a few times a year, it was after paying for the three night stay that we were advised we were being allocated a pitch as the site was full that evening. As we have an ‘average size’ 2 berth caravan we were shocked, never before on any caravan and motorhome club site have we been told that we could not choose any vacant pitch available. To make matters worse our van is neither long nor an unusual size and the ground conditions on site were neither wet or waterlogged in the nice heatwave we are currently having, and these are the circumstances described in the rules where pitch allocation may be necessary. Anyway we went to the pitch allocated to us only to find it was occupied already. Rather than drive round to the office with the van in tow we decided to call the sites reception for advice, we were told to come back to reception with van in tow to get an alternative pitch, I advised the warden that I had reversed on a vacant pitch to prevent congestion on the one way system, only to be told the vacant un reserved pitch was allocated to a van due to arrive later the same day and we would need to wait to be told where we could pitch even though we had seen four other vacant pitches we could have pitched on. We questioned this and were told to pitch up where we were. As I was finally securing the Alko wheel lock aligned at last! The Lady warden arrived asking us to move to another pitch because she said she had a lot of big units coming in and she quoted how long our van was and that we didnt need a big pitch. That infuriated us more as we all pay the same for a standard pitch with awning and so they should all be the same size!! This was the last straw, we wanted to leave and get a refund, but we were told to stay where we were. What a carry on, if there were limited white peg pitches available for large vans coming in why weren’t these pitches reserved with a cone or sign? Why discriminate against the normal small 2 berth caravan? We weren’t the only outfit treated this way, we found out later, and we were shunned by the warden for the rest of the weekend. We and our neighbours on the next pitch won’t be visiting this site again.

Good touring location

Excellent base to tour this part of North Wales. We visited areas from Barmouth right up to Colwyn Bay as well as spending a day at Bodnant Gardens.

Warm Welcome!

At last, some wardens which are personable and able to exchange in genuine conversation. The site is very well maintained with a nice feel to it, the wardens clearly work hard keeping the place tidy and enjoy what they do. Upon arrival they are friendly and explain everything you need to know well. We stayed for a long weekend and was well placed for mountain biking at Coed-y-Brennin (8 miles away) and Zip World, approx 30 miles away. There is a small dog work which is enough to let you dog off for a short while and a nice play area for the children. Access is easy and not far off the main road. North wales is great for outdoors lovers with the site well placed for all attractions in this part of Wales. We shall be returning.

First timers in Wales

After caravanning for 22 years we decided to brave it and book a holiday in Wales. Why we waited this long we'll never know! We have just enjoyed two weeks on this beautiful site and couldn't find a fault with anything. The wardens are so helpful and friendly and work tirelessly to keep the site immaculate. The toilet facilities are a bit outdated but immaculately clean, the showers were fantastic and always hot. The Bryn Arms just outside the site served lovely hot food reasonably priced and the new owners are very busy improving the outside landscaping. We will definitely be returning to this site and look forward to visiting more Club sites in Wales in the future.

Lovely, well kept, quiet site

Stayed for 4 nights mid April 2018 and experienced a lovely, clean picturesque site. Pitches are large and full hard standing so bring your rock pegs for the awnings. Toilet/shower block is very clean and well equipped. Wardens were very helpful. Nice walks direct from the site along tracks & paths. Dog walks is ample, just wish some owners would clean up after their dogs. Overall a great 4 night stay and we will be back if the weather permits.
