Great renovation of lovely site

This is one of our favourite sites; quiet and peaceful with lots of walks from the site. Clumber park visitors centre is a short walk away with dog friendly cafes and shady places to rest. A place to recharge your batteries and chill but yet only minutes from the A1 The planned renovation worried us as many sites after such an "improvement" loose character and become concrete coloured rather than green to create more pitches/ hardstandings. This ( I presume because National Trust were involved) is the exception and the pitches blend with the trees and it now is the same lovely site but with top notch facilities and some great serviced pitches.

Halloween at Clumber

We were so disappointed that Clumber was closing that we booked the last possible night we could, 30th October 2021. We had not anticipated arriving in the middle of the Halloween event. The fancy dress was just being judged and the best pumpkin and best decorated "van" followed at dusk. We thought we might have a noisy evening, but after all the fun it was as quiet as usual. A very well managed event as we would expect at this site where the staff are excellent.

Cycling around the park

Had a good few days cycling around Clumber Park on our electric bikes while on a four night stay. Has been posted before NO Phone signal and for us that's a problem as we Geocache and a good signal is a must. It did not stop us getting over 100 new caches found but we like logging them at night not live so to speak. Hope with the site getting its long awaited upgrade something can be done to help get a better phone signal. Not sure what would happen in a emergency away from the wardens office. Had a nice lunch at the National Trust Cafe but the best bit of the trip was seeing all the Swans and Geese that took off from the lake one day. There must have been 200 Swans and way over 500 geese and boy when they all went at the same time what a racket , nature in the raw would not have been surprised if Sir David Attenborough had have come out of the bushes along with a BBC film crew. Special or what.

Gutted it's shutting but needs it's revamp

We have just had a 6 night stay. Our first was back in 2006! We love this site, in the week it's so quiet. The wardens work hard to keep this big site looking it's best. And have the shop well stocked, which is great as nothing within walking distance. This site isn't far from home so it's a good one for a weekend for us, we have stayed lots of times and have never been disappointed. Very sad that it is closing now for the refurbishment, but it is badly needed. The toilet blocks are kept clean but the facilities are very old and haven't been updated since we first visited in 2006! They've lasted well. We shall look forward to visiting when it is open again late next year. **I would just say that every single time we have been here the wardens have asked if we have bikes and if we have they have told us about the bike store and the issues with bike thefts from the site. There are also posters in the shower blocks, reception area, information room. I think the wardens do a fab job making sure bikes don't get stolen, but every time stay we see someone not following the guidance, hence the thieves will keep coming back**

Quiet

Two nights to try out our new van conversion. Great for walks and cycling. No mobile signal so very useful if you need a digital detox! Staff very helpful.

Great Getaway

We booked this site as there was nothing available, Pleasantly surprised, great location, brilliant walks and supermarket quite close. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The entire park is well maintained. 5 Stars from me

Not coming back!

We were not impressed with the toilet facilities. In the disabled shower room the metalwork to assist was very rusty not a very nice environment at all. The CDP room has moss growing inside it. Worse still to come if you go into the cubicle for a wash and shave early in the mornings the lights all go out, you have to unlock the cubicle wave your arms around to get the lights back on. The water in these cubicles was not even hot. Lovely and hot when you wash your hands in the sinks near the urinals and certainly hot enough in the showers but pretty useless in those cubicles. We were also not aware of the high risk of bikes etc being stolen and to lock them up in the store. The wardens never warned us, our neighbouring campers did. Fed up with telling you all about their site, I could list more problems We will just not ever visit it again.

This is Best site with the BEST staff

We stayed here 5 nights. You know from the moment you turn off the main road and pass through the entrance gates and start the drive down the tree lines drive you know toy are going to be staying somewhere special. On entering the site you are greeted by wide and spacious check in parking. The first point of contact with the wardens sets the standard for the stay. It was a warm and most of all a sincere welcome. The pitches are very spacious and well kept. We had a problem with a leisure battery which the warden kindly pointed out to us. What I though was going to be a problem was sorted in 5 minutes. I was asked if I would like assistance in getting it fixed to which I gratefully said yes. One phone call and arrangements were made for the new battery would be replaced at 6pm the following evening. Sure enough Dave the mobile specialist arrived as agreed and replaced the battery. It was a very fair price for the battery and labour. Thank you to all those involved is ensuring what could have been a problem in to a solution. We cannot thank you enough. The CAMC WiFi for steaming on the iPad is GOOD. Due to the remoteness of the site the phone signal is very poor which is a bonus as work cannot ring. We will certainly be visiting again.

Excellent support

Contacted wardens for advice as mum has now got a diagnosis of mixed dementia. The advice was simple, supportive and helpful. When we arrived we were placed on a reserved pitch very close to the toilet/shower block. The wardens came round and stopped for a gentle chat at least twice during our two night stay. We have been told to contact the site when we want to stay in the future and they will arrange the same pitch and support. It's simple support but it means a lot, thank you so much.

Good site in great location

The site is set in a huge park with many entrances but only one that is open (on the A614) -ALL others are closed and locked and will require reversing to get yourself out of trouble. Believe me, I trusted the car sat nav and had to sort out the mess. Site is great and big enough to pitch away from the play area if you want to. Some plane noise ahead. As others have said, no phone signal at all, no mifi and the CAMH Wi-fi is barely credible. Max speed I recorded was 16Mips (ok) on some mornings down to 1mips in the evening (which is dial up modem territory). Warnings everywhere about theft of bikes and valuables from awnings, so be aware. Wardens are great and jump on speedsters immediately (👍🏼) and the pitches have good spacing. Outside lots of places for a nice walk. Really enjoyed our stay
