Good site for breaking a longer journey or relaxing holiday.

Clumber Park is a large site set in woodland. The pitches, a mix of hardstanding and grass are spaced out and well sheltered by tall trees. Some of the grass pitches are rather devoid of grass where awnings have been and can become very muddy when it rains. The Club ask that groundsheets are lifted every day but, given the condition of some of the pitches this is not really practical. Some of the hardstanding pitches are also in need of tidying up. Phone reception is non existent and the tv reception is poor but there is a booster system, providing you have a cable. Access to the site is easy, apart from the long queues which can develop around the 1300 arrival time. We arrived at 1345 and it took over 20 minutes to check in. Given it’s proximity to the A1 it makes a good base for an overnight stop or a longer stay to enjoy the local area which is great for walking, cycling or just chilling out. From the site you can walk all around the lake (about 6 miles) and there are plenty of places to have a picnic as well as two National Trust cafe’s.

Weekend at Clumber Park

Another excellent Club site, facilities very clean. Staff friendly and super efficient on arrival explaining Covid restrictions, which most people followed to the letter but there's always those people that think it doesn't apply to them and ignore the instructions. Site is in a beautiful location, well kept. Phone and internet signal is non existent which is nice! Club Wi-fi is available at a cost if required.

A lovely site

Although the site was very nearly full, it felt spacious and was quiet. The design of curves and green areas felt that you had lots of space. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. We accidently locked ourselves out of our motor home at 8.30 at night and Christian was wonderful, getting in contact with Green Flag to come and rescue us! The location was wonderful for our bike rides and our dogs. We were able cycle several different long rides with the dogs running free. No mobile reception so internet was a must, Do resent having to pay for 7 days when only there for 4 though. We will definitely be going back,

Relaxing Weekend in Clumber Park

We recently visited Clumber park from Friday to Monday. We arrived around 4pm and check in was smooth and quick. Driving through the site, adhering to the speed limit we could see the site was busy but we quickly found our pitch. There were quite a few choices of immaculate grass or hardstanding of which we opted for the latter due to position. Ramps out and levelled off we were sat enjoying the sunshine within 15 minutes of arriving. There were allot of families on site so lots of children riding around on bicycles which does make me cringe when some members cannot stick to the 5mph speed limit when moving around the site in vehicles. Two sets of children were reminded by the warden not to play ball games around caravans and promptly moved to the correct area and continued their game. The facilities were the usual high standard but it was noted that some members couldn't be bothered to wear face masks or at least try and understand the toliet block band system. The bins were emptied twice a day and were never full. The wardens were very visible on the Friday evening whilst the site was filling up to near on full capacity. Clumber is a fantastic site which is well run and maintained by the warden team, it's just a shame we seem to have so many members that haven't read the Clubs Bye Laws and just continually break the rules. Speeding, Dogs on Leads, Driving the wrong way down a one way, Driving across grass pitches, walking through someone elses pitch with their toilet cassette. Can't wait to go back for our next visit.

Busy site but peaceful

We were only on site for a one night stopover. A busy site and there was quite a queue of vans with only one member of staff processing arrivals. Pitch numbers weren’t allocated on arrival so it was a free-for-all to choose our own pitch and then return to reception to check-in and pay. There’s no mobile phone signal on site. Although a busy site we had a peaceful night. It is very well kept and there is plenty of space between pitches.

No peace at Clumber?

Clumber is one of the first sites we visited when we bought our first motorhome some years ago and we've returned quite often. It is superbly located and well looked after. This time we noted a marked increase in the presence of staff patrolling the site. Our stay was spoiled by a gang of small children who were still running around the pitches howling and screaming at 10pm. Occasionally a "head" would appear from the window of their new and expensive caravan and bawl at them, to no effect at all. "One bad apple can spoil a whole barrel" and very difficult for the staff to deal with. The Caravan and Motorhome Club might consider warnings and some site bans.

Lovely site, shame about some customers

We have just returned from a 14 night stay on this site. The site itself is very well situated and well looked after. The site managers work hard to keep the facilities clean and covid safe. However some of the customers were either ignorant or arrogant about the simple covid system put in place to regulate the capacity of the toilet blocks. A simple band system was in place. Put a band on a hook when you go in and take it off again when you come out. If the hooks are full of bands then the block is at capacity. Simple right ? Apparently not, almost every visit we saw people entering or leaving without hanging up a band (on one occasion we saw someone take a band and put it on their wrist before going in !) many people failed to wear face coverings and children were running in and out and around the blocks from morning until night. 50% of the time people had failed to clean the shower floor after use. On several nights there was noise until late on and no ball games near other peoples pitches rules seemed not to apply to many people. It is a while since we stayed at a large club site and from this experience it will be a while before we stay again (certainly not until covid restrictions are lifted). We think if it would be helpful if basic campsite etiquette and rules are pointed out to people on arrival especially as there will be a lot of new campers/caravanners this season due to the reduction of foreign travel as it seems that there are a lot of people who don't know how to behave on site.

One of the best visited so far

Having only spent 3 nights at this lovely location we cannot wait to return, hopefully same time next year. The site is very peaceful and the walks whether alone or with dogs are fabulous. You could walk in any direction and not see all the park regardless of how long you stayed. The staff were very helpful and patient despite the number of units arriving at the same time. The staff directed the heavy flow of traffic calmly apologizing, whilst not their fault for the delays in booking in. Highly recommended
