First visit and overall very impressed with site. Mainly quiet, but we were there mid-week of school term. There are some lovely walks, with or without a dog and lots of places of interest nearby. The site managers/wardens were all very pleasant and helpful.
However, the 'buts'...firstly the Club sign is smallish and on the opposite side of the road to the entrance. We approached it and turned to our right, then saw the small arrow pointing the opposite way! We had to drive quite a way up the National Trust road before we could turn round. Approaching in the opposite direction, there is a large sign with a large arrow.
Also, the speed limit is 5mph....this should also apply when cycling...particularly the children. Nobody tells the children to slow down!
All of the above though wouldn't stop us visiting here again.
watch your valubles
On arrival to the site was asked if i had any cycles with me,
i had one mountain bike, i was then advised there had been a number of bike thefts from the site from awnings and pitches and was recommended to use there free of charge SECURE AND ALARMED LOCK UP ..
I used my bike a couple of times during the week and placed it in the lockup at nights.
there are signs round the site stating cctv and listening devices in place and security patrol operating .high crime area ?????
On Saturday morning i packed caravan ready for home then went to collect my bike. i was greeted by a repair man fixing the lock on the bike lock up.........
I went inside and there on the floor was my smashed bike lock and NO BIKE !!!!!!!
IF YOU DONT NEED TO TAKE YOUR BIKE DONT !!!!!!
I rang the caravan club to share my concerns and was advised to READ THE BOOKING CONFIRMATION as its mentioned in there and also on the web page about bike thefts,
if it is on the web page its not very prominent
Also Wednesday morning recycling truck 6am tipping glass bottles into wagon certainly wakes you up and speed he went round site was stupidly fast
Nice trips local, site average, showers tatty, security ZERO
WONT BE BACK

good but could be better
my wife and i stayed for 4 nights recently for the first time at clumber having previously stayed at chatsworth,we are relatively new to caravanning(from oct 16) so may have been spoilt but although we really enjoyed clumber (the staff were great),, there were a couple of subtle differences, the hard standing pitch was near to the facilities and was somewhat overgrown with weeds, also when we took our awning down to beat the rain forecast ppl were walking accross our pitch to use the facilities, maybe a simple rope fence would stop that, on a positive note the bike shed was very reassuring and the doggy wash enabled us to clean our bikes in an environmentally friendly way,we are definitely going back soon , overall a happy robanne
Short stop
Only stayed one night on this site as we were traveling north but will use again. Loved the feeling of space around the site and the tubs of ice cream from the club shop went down well on a hot sunny afternoon. Toilet block was very clean like you find on most club sites so thanks must go to all staff for the hard work put in by them. Will get a map and bring boots with us for next time as walking in the area looks nice.
Regular visitor
Being a some what regular visitor to Clumber due to moving south and revisiting friends upt north it is a place we stay at.
I have to say I am getting less and less enamoured
It is not the staff, I have always found them most agreeable.
Last year I had occasion to complain to CC;s customer services regarding the Disabled facility.
My wife is disabled and as such has to be assisted with showering, the shower area is just not big enough and I suffered slight heat burn off the hot water shower pipe, the shower should be thermostatically controlled, It isn't, also the shower pipe is not fit for purpose.
The worst thing, when I complained to CC'S customer services I was treat like someone who did not know what I was talking about, big mistake!
A 16th year member nearly called it a day.
Good park, good folk, shame about those above
Excellent weekend away
We have just come back from Clumber Park and we have had a fabulous weekend. The wardens were very friendly and Helpful, Facilities very clean. We had Pizza from the visiting Pizza truck on the Saturday night an it was delicious. Our pitch backed onto the play area which we liked so our boys could play and we could keep an eye on them. Bike lock up is fantastic.
If i had to state a negative it was the group of around 9 children whom decided to pick on my child within the play area and torment him which also resulted in him being pushed from a spinning round about within the play area. This could have easily been dealt with if Parents had watched/supervised their children whilst in the play area. The parents of this said crowd were no where to be seen. Wardens were very good in asking children to keep their voices down at 10pm.
all in all an excellent weekend will definitely return
What's Happened to Clumber Park
I have been a club member for 10 years and Clumber Park has always been one of our favourite sites, in the last couple of years the toilet/shower block has started to look a little passed its sell by date but has always been clean and made to look as good as it possible can considering their age. On our last visit (5 nights spring bank holiday week) we arrived and was pleased to see the access road had been resurfaced and reception looked clean and tidy has it usually does. After checking in we continued on to the site and was shocked to find grass overgrown looking like it hadn’t been cut for weeks and some hard standing pitches were in terrible condition with grass and weeds covering up to 50% of the pebbled area. We found a pitch and started setting up, when trying to connect my electric lead I inserted the plug and turned clockwise to find it wouldn’t lock, at this point my neighbour informed me the socket was faulty and the warden had been informed the day before, he said he was on his way to reception and would inform the warden I was having problems. On his return he informed me the warden was coming down to take a look. I finished setting up and erected my awning, over an hour later the warden arrived by which time I had fixed the problem myself (red release button had stuck in), the warden tested the socket and returned to reception. Throughout our stay the toilet block was kept clean but the showers could only be described as cold to aired at best as was the water in the sinks. It should be noted that a new dog shower has been installed and I considered giving it a try to see if it was any warmer than their human counterparts. Due to our pitch location we encounter a constant stream of members cutting across our pitch on route to the facilities as they can’t be bothered to walk the two pitch further down and use the proper paths provided. I noted earlier in the year that Clumber Park was on a list of club sites with a price freeze, I now take that to mean sites are substandard so can’t justify a price increase. I feel so sad to see this beautiful site is looking so neglected and unloved. After 5 night we left the site having still not witnessed a blade of grass being cut. For the last 10 years we have spent a week in October at Clumber Park and had booked to return again this year, I have now cancelled my booking.
Perfect for walking, cycling & running!
We've stayed here before & were aware of the warnings regarding thefts, particularly cycles. There is a however a useful alarmed overnight storeroom for bikes which helps. We returned as we were participating in the Clumber Park 10K & it was a great location for us. You can walk or cycle into the park free of charge (a fee if you drive in), there's loads of walks, routes, tracks & quiet road ways to explore. The security threat to possessions comes from the rare uninvited visitor, but as long as you lock up your valuables they won't bother. Wifi here is poor but plans for an upgrade later in the year, free wifi in the main visitor facilities in the park if you're that desperate. This is a good site with friendly wardens & we would return without hesitation. There was a fish & chip van on the Friday night & a Pizza van on the Saturday but suspect this will be seasonal/subject to demand.
Wedding route
We stopped here, on our Gretna Green wedding route.
Lovely place, clean, friendly and scenic.
Great walks in the woods.
Interesting in stay
Cant really fault the wardens (very helpful and welcoming), facilities (all very clean), location spot on for dog walking. Yes, lack of wi-fi/mobile reception can be for some an issue. I arrived at the end of half term (3/6/17), where children seemed to rule the site ! a lack of awareness of site traffic was my biggest concern, manoeuvring my MoHo onto pitch with children cycling/boarding all around was challenging to say the least, they had no appreciation of traffic (quite shocking really) Once in place, had an enjoyable and very pleasant stay, would happily go back but for me, this would be outside of school holidays.
Dog walking - exceptional.
