Don't buy the wifi!!

We use Clumber a lot since we only live five miles away and have two dogs. This time we were avoiding the decorators for a fortnight. We know off course that there is no phone signal or 3G so we paid for wifi access in order to remain in contact. Over nearly a fortnight we managed to connect twice and this is simply not acceptable for a paid service. the response from a warden was 'well I got my email this morning ok'. Whilst we're about it......why do we have to pay in any case? I get free wifi in M&S for heavens sake? Don't get me wrong, Clumber is a great site still but I really don't like being ripped off!!

Great site

We have visited Clumber several times as it is so handy from the A1 (which is our route of choice from East Scotland to the South). It is set in a large public park and you approach the site through an imposing gateway (a leftover from a stately home?). The site itself is situated in the middle of a wood with many paths off it so ideal for dogs. From a dog owner's point of view this is a top site. It is always very quiet. There is no wifi or mobile connection although you can get a connection from the park nearby. The facilities and reception are of the usual high standard.

Fantastic!

It was a last minute decision/call to stay here and we are so, so pleased that we did. Overnight stay with our 2 dogs. The site was busy, yet, still tranquil. Plenty of walking for our beloved dogs. Facilities 2nd to none, this site has everything you could want, even a little shop for your essential bits and bobs! no mobile signal but to be honest, we work hard and it was a pleasure to have peace from constant calls! We will, without hesitation, book up for a longer stay. Highly rate this Park. Beautiful, very nice staff, brilliant facilities, very clean. Loved, loved, loved staying here!

No wifi as stated in the book

The caravan site book clearly states there is wifi on this site but that isn't so. There is no wifi, no mobile phone signal, and both pay phones near the information house were out of order. We are both in our early 70s and would not of visited this site had we realised nothing was working. My husband was ill one night and it was very difficult. The caravan and motor home sign at the entrance clearly states Sorry no tents but there obviously was tents also trailer tents. There was also a huge horse box which had been converted into a home. I questioned this with one of the wardens who pointed out if it had cooking facilities in it it was classed as a motor home. So what next . I heard from one of the campers that if we show our receipt we can get in free to the national trust park etc, but we were not told about this so had to pay, twice is this correct. I await your comments.

Great site for active families

Stayed for five days immediately after easter. The site was busy with a significant number of children. Lots of activities for active families both on site and within Clumber Park itself. The facilities are the usual club standard, although the showers are starting to show their age. If your looking for peace and quiet then I'm not sure that this is the site for you, we will certainly try to avoid school holiday time in the future. But if you want somewhere to cycle, walk or run then you can't beat it

Great site in a beautiful, peaceful yet not remote location

We stayed for five nights just after Easter. The site was busy, with lots of children, yet it was still peaceful and reasonably private, and we enjoyed undisturbed sleep. The setting in Clumber Park is just marvellous, with so many beautiful walks from the caravan door. Sherwood forest and even Nottingham are not far away. The managers were friendly and efficient, and the toilet blocks (two) were very clean and well-equipped. We could not fault it, and we'll be coming again!

A great site- shame about the wifi

We've just had a great Sat-Mon stay and will definitely return again. Location is brilliant within a Park which offers wonderful walks and cycle rides. The National Trust facilities - coffee, snacks/meals, ice creams as well as bike hire - really do help to make this a location well worth a visit. As others have said, this site is very well maintained with very clean toilet blocks. It was easy to lock our bikes away in the cycle sheds but it's a shame that theft here seems to have been a problem for many years since it does make people uneasy. The only other issue is the lack of wifi and mobile phone signal; for some people it might be a welcome break but for many others (perhaps with caring responsibilities) it is a real negative and in 2017 must surely be one the Club will want to deal with.

Lovely Woodland Site

The site was fully booked when we visited at the weekend, so we were a little limited for choice of pitch, and ended up quite near to the exit, which wasn't a problem. The wardens were friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome immediately.

A great site

This is a great site in a brilliant forest location. Easy access to the miles of forest trails makes it ideal for dog owners, cyclists and walkers. The wardens are all helpful and very friendly and the site is kept spotless.
