We paid Chester Fairoaks our first visit in 9 years of caravanning and wonder why we left it so long! Yes, it is on the upper end of the price range but the facilities cannot be faulted.
We will be taking our bikes next time and cycling into Chester along the canal towpath - just 1.5 miles away from the site.
The wardens were friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. Our favourite warden looked like he was in his dream job, a smile never left his face - it's amazing how positive people react to a smile!
The site fully deserves it's 5 star rating and we cannot wait to go back
An Excellent Site
Smallish site well laid out and maintained. Stayed 4 - 9th August. Well located for Chester and its attractions; there's also plenty more to do and see further afield. The staff were very friendly, cheery and helpful. Cannot fault the site or the staff; but the behaviour of one male 'guest' was truly disgusting. The female member of staff who had to clean up the filth left distributed around one of the toilet cubicles deserves admiration and sympathy. There are people out there who are prepared to leave behind them a disgusting mess that someone else has to clean up. Well done the staff and shame on the perpetrator.\ Don't let this put you off the site, which as I say is excellent; I am sure that the problem is rare and dealt with with good humour.
Annual Visit to a great location
Just spent 10 days on site. We go there regularly. It provides great access to the North West and North Wales. Site is obviously a great 'cash cow' for the club as the site is pretty full on most nights. However, given that the site is full, and that in peak season it is expensive (I was paying £36 per night for 2 adults and 1 child), I would expect a little more for my money. Sure the toilet block is good, but access is only from one side. If you are old or disabled you need to pitch on the office side or be prepared to walk all the way round. TV is quoted as good, but there are many pitches where TV reception is less than adequate mainly because the club seems obsessed with allowing trees and hedges to go un-pruned. Pigeons are also a problem especially on the side straight up from the office in the confier hedge. They regularly land on your roof/awning and mess. You should also take strong waterproof shoes if the weather is likely to be inclement. The road surface develops massive puddles when rain falls.
However it is still a site we will continue to visit.
Entertaining the grandchildren
We have just spent a full week at Chester Fairoaks with three of our teenage grandchildren. The site is in an excellent base from which to take maximum advantage of the many local attractions available to keep a young family entertained.
The wardens provide a first class welcome and are constantly busy maintaining the facilities in excellent order (bins emptied twice each day). The newly refurbished shower/toilet block is state of the art as one would expect and the pitches are generous.
Being so conveniently located between two busy motorways and serviced by the fairly busy Rake Lane there is inevitably background traffic hum throughout daylight hours. This is supplemented by airplanes from Liverpool's John Lennon airport, depending on the wind direction, but we didn't find this to be obtrusive and the appearance of the enormous 'Beluga' aircraft transporting A380 Airbus wings to Toulouse from the nearby Broughton factory was a point of particular interest.
All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site for its facilities, its location and its wardens but it isn't a peaceful haven to listen to the birds!
Happy to support such a friendly site
We come to this site often as it is close to the ferry ports for the Isle of Man. It is always a well run and pleasant site, however I have to say the present staff are a delight they really made us feel welcome from the begin to end of our stay. I can't recommend this site enough, so much so that we are returning in a couple of weeks for another visit.

Cracking site and staff
Our first time here and will not be last wardens were great, site very clean as were the toilets etc. 3 pubs within easy walking and then the designer outlet with eating outlets as well.
Loved it xx
First time here and we loved it , staff were really friendly the park is immaculate , showers nice and hot which makes a change and .....no pressy buttons lol . There's a lovely little paddock for your dog to run around in which our puppy loved especially when there was another dog to play with. Just 5mins away is The Rake pub where you can get a canny meal and a further 10 / 15 minutes away is Sainsburys and the largest designer outlet centre ever . From the outlet you can get a bus to Chester Zoo, Chester, Ellsmere Port and Liverpool. Try it , you'll love it , we'll be back next year xx
Ps , never heard anything from the motorway.

Short stay
This was our first visit to this site and we found it to be a very nice site which is very handy to visit Chester and very easy to get to. We were only there a few days en route to Wales but found the site tidy and very secure. The toilet block was impressive and kept very clean.
I would recommend this site to anyone.
Great Weekend
After our second visit to this site we were very happy to say the welcome was excellent.
The shower block was very clean at all times the staff do a great job.
We did not visit the two pubs close by but they are within 10 minutes walk of the site.
The shopping is a 15 minute walk from the site and it also boasts a very large M & S store.
Once again though a little upset no footpath for walking safe as the cars do travel very fast
past the site.
