Great site

We stayed here for one night just before Christmas to test out our motor home. Despite the wardens being extremely busy 'sweeping' surface water away, they both took the time to make us feel very welcome and provide advice when we asked for it. The location is very well placed for the shopping outlet centre, where you can also catch a bus to Chester. The site washrooms are excellent and were spotless on our visit. Overall, an excellent site and we will be back - hopefully in finer weather!

Shopping Location Best Atribute

First visit in winter to a site because of necessity (moving house) Positive : Wardens friendly and Very hard working Toilet & Showers first class (Temperature a little lower than used to but that may be be due to winter period) negatives : site waterlogged, many pitches were flooded with cones identifying the worst but many also had water on stone areas, this due to underlying clay soil. When frozen very dangerous for. Trips and slips / Wardens put salt around shower block and water points but only so much they can do! Generally paths / roads can be very bad to walk on with some flooded across. ( this may only be in absolute worse conditions but we witnessed this) Waste of time for dog owners due to total mud /water , every walk is a bath time on return ( lot of work) Hope this helps people looking for an all year site that really shouldn't be so has to be for shoppers, and profitable for the club because of this. Staff are great however.

Shopped until we dropped

We chose this site because of its close proximity to Cheshire Oaks, Chester and Liverpool. After seeing the weather reports for the day we should have been arriving forcasting heavy snow, we phoned to see if we could arrive a day earlier to make sure we got over the Pennines to the site. Never a bad thing if you get stuck onsite and cannot leave!! Arriving a day earlier gave us much more time to do our Christmas shopping. Cheshire Oaks is a 10 minute walk and has a vast selection of outlets and shops. Buses run from the shopping outlet to both Liverpool and Chester, at £4 per person per day. So a fantastic way to travel into both cities. We had brilliant days out in both cities and also spent the day at Chester Zoo, the bus stops off here too. Chester Zoo is an absolute must, we found enough to do the whole day even at 0oc. Just needed to wrap up warm. As far as the site goes...............perfect. Wardens were lovely, all facilities immaculate, despite the weather the wardens worked so hard to keep the site gritted and water defrosted. I would definately recommend the site either for a shopping spree or visiting the surrounding towns and cities. A great selection of places to eat out in the area, or a huge M and S with a foodhall if you want to cater in. Look forward to coming back in the near future.

Excellent site and top facilities

We stayed here for the second time in mid November. The welcome and help from the wardens was excellent, as before. Our pitch was on the top side of the site and the proximity to the waste and water facilities was very handy. Everything about this site is top notch, from the spotless and warm shower block to the scrupulous state of the pitch surrounds. The wardens obviously take huge pride in their site and it certainly shows. The information room was very useful indeed and by browsing in there we found, and took advantage of, the special offers available to Caravan Club members at both Ness Botanic Gardens and the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port. Our only slight criticism was the constant traffic noise from local roads and motorway, but being November, we never sat outside, so it was fine. However, on a summer’s day, that noise could potentially spoil the tranquillity of the site. Another point for serious consideration is putting up larger signs indicating the entrance to the site. There is no sign at all on Rake Lane, coming from the direction of Chester and the sign that is there is not large enough. It is far too easy to miss the entrance at the moment, as all our visitors found. The site itself is just excellent, though, and we will definitely return.

Overall this is a good site

We have been to this site several times so when it was closed a while ago for upgrades we expected the flooding to have been sorted. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and at least one service point - the one we needed to use - was barely accessible due to flooding. Our pitch flooded again although this time we were able to exit our motorhome and were not confined to it for 2 days as we were about 3 years ago over Xmas and New Year. Apart from that, this is a lovely site with cheerful wardens who worked hard due to the constant changeover of visitors. Will be going back.

lovely stay

Arrived to a lovely wecome off the wardens and plenty of spacious pitches to choose from. The facilities were immaculate nice hot showers and spacious cubicle. The disabled toilet is again spotless and has all requirements. There is a good dog exercising area for dogs and a park on site for the children. A faultless site right on the door step and walking distance of cheshire oaks retail park and a huge outlet offering good food and takeaway food a M&S and Sainsburys is also on the outlet. The Blue planet aquarium and bus stop to Chester Liverpool and Elsmere port is a short walk away from.the site. A great well run site very well recommended

Shopping Break

Ideal site for shopping at Cheshire Oaks and also Liverpool One. Been many times to this site and overall it is okay. Some problems with standing water on pitches and roads. Wardens gave us a friendly welcome and other than that had no contact with them. Toilets very clean and recently refurbished. Amazed at thoughtlessness of some members churning up the grass at the edge of the roads. On hitching up I temporarily blocked the road and was flabbergasted when someone wasn't prepared to wait and drove across a twenty yard patch of grass to exit the site leaving two huge grooves across the grass.. A typical lack of respect from this Volvo owner who I hope reads this and feels some shame. A disappointing ending to a great four days break. P.S Bus Pass gets you to Liverpool in fifty minutes for free from Cheshire Oaks Bus Stop. .

Lovely clean site well worth a visit

This is our second stay at this site and still lived up to our expectations. Shower/toilet block was very clean and loved listening to the music whilst using the shower. Would easily recommend this site to anyone as it is very close to the designer outlet and also the Harvester pub across the road is a good place to visit for an evening out. The food is also delicious. Looking forward to the C&MC site opening in December so I can book again for 2018!!!

Still disappointed

A continuation of the previous review, I have never seen so many variations of rear offside to the peg as on this site !!!!! Why give this instruction when so many just please themselves which way they pitch ????

Disappointed

Firstly disappointed to see none of the staff wearing Poppy's for Remembrance Day, but this is a mater of personal choice. The site itself has a lot of flooded pitches which made it difficult to find a decent one without water lying on it, they seem to have a serious drainage problem which needs some attention. The facilities were up to the usual club standard, and although we didn't see much of the wardens, they were very pleasant when spoken too. It was noticed that a lot of the RULES were not abided by, speeding, a caravan with no occupants being left for over a week, and obvious sub letting, which wasn't only noticed by ourselves. All in all we had a pleasant stay.

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review. We are very glad your visit was a pleasant one and hope you return again soon.

The site staff have been in touch as they work hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time at Chester Fairoaks and want to clear up any misunderstanding.

The site staff that were on duty during your stay did have their poppies, which on the days on and around Remembrance Day were attached to their fleece. On a site as busy as Chester, and with the weather needing coats and fleeces on and off, aprons on for cleaning etc., it was difficult to change their poppies for different activities but please be assured they wore their poppies with pride.

A site like Chester, which has very flat level pitches, can occasionally experience a few problems when heavy rain occurs as has been the case of late. To put your mind at ease, we only have 4 pitches that are known to flood and have standing water for a period of some hours after such conditions. Please note, there remains 85 pitches that are fully operational and do not flood.

Regarding subletting please contact us or the site directly to discuss any concerns as the site staff are not aware of this. They were only aware of one van on site not occupied during your stay, which was due to a medical emergency.

The site staff hope to welcome you back to Chester long into the future, and if you ever have any concerns again, please feel free to discuss with the staff on site who will always be happy to clarify any issues you may be experiencing.
