This site is ideally placed to allow visitors to Cheddar to walk to all of the main attractions, it is also close to dog friendly pubs with excellent food and also close to the local shops and supermarkets. The welcome received is second to none and the site is kept in tip-top condition. We will be returning frequently.
Don't go by the Post Code
As with all CMC sites you do get a certain standard so the site was well equipped and OK for a weekend visit - particularly this time of the year. That said it would be a good base to explore the lovely area as Wells, Wookey Hole, Ebbor Gorge, Cheddar Weston-Super-Mare etc.etc. etc are within easy reach.
The main thing is THE POST CODE. Ignore it otherwise you'll end up in a dead end in a housing estate. We did laugh about it and the wardens were helpful when we gave up and admitted we were lost!
All in all a nice site and a pleasant stay.
One final thing.......don't stay under the trees as the bird poo is a NIGHTMARE to clean off the car etc.
Best wardens in the network
Wardens do a great job but Cheddar goes that extra mile (so sorry I didn’t note your names). The happiest, friendliest and most welcoming wardens to date. Thank you so much for a lovely weekend. Site is immaculate.

Delightful
Stayed for a week starting 9th March A small but lovely well maintained site. Quiet and peaceful with Cheddars cheapest bar only yards away, a little noise from there but nothing excessive. Wardens Jo and Malcolm could not be faulted. Always busy but time for a chat with a smile. Shower block lovely and warm and spotless. Walking distance to Cheddar and the various tourist attractions. No play area for the children hence 3 stars for families. We will be returning when weather improves.
Great location for exploring Cheddar and Wells
Arrived on the 1st March, first day for year round opening to a friendly welcome - our third time returning to this site.
The site is well located, walking distance to Cheddar and the Gorge - Sainsburys supermarket within walking distance, plenty of nearby takeaways too.
Usual clean and tidy CC facilities - nice quiet site, mostly motorhomes and couples during our stay. Level pitches, narrow entrance road but nothing too taxing provided everyone sticks to the arrival and departure times.
We're a family of 4 and it made for a nice long weekend stay. Wells, the UK's smallest city, is a 25 minute drive away - a stunning location and will be heading back to explore further.
Pleasant- ish stay in Cheddar
We stayed here in late September while travelling home from Cornwall. On arrival we received the most unfriendly welcomes from the grumpiest warden we have ever met. No manners, just a folded receipt and instructions to pitch and let him know where we were sited.
The site is located behind a high boundary fence which limits the views but it is a well laid out with the usual CAMC facilities. Although these are looking a bit tired they were OK but nothing much to praise. But they were livened up when Mr Grumpy came rattling his sweeping brush under the toilet door and shouted "all out its time to clean" The benefit of having Radio 2 on in the toilet block is that you know it's cleaning time when PopMaster starts at 10:30, but with Ken Bruce still playing music I thought I still had a few more moments to relax, but apparently not.
Anyway, the area is great and Cheddar is well worth a walk round and we did enjoy our stay. If you like cheese then you should be ok here but I was surprised by the number of Original Cheddar Cheese Shops there are.
Finally I did overhear two others complaining about the warden (who appeared to be on his own during our stay), with one member stating that he had previously worked for the club, had given the warden a piece of his mind and would be making an official complaint.
Weekend away
What a fabulous weekend away at this site. Our host were friendly and helpful. Facilities were spotless. Yes they are not as modern as some sites but they were warm and clean the radio playing was a lovely touch.
Cheddar is a great place to wander numerous friendly pubs and fab food.
Two local supermarkets to stock up on items forgotten.

Lovely Little Site
We stayed here for 4 nights during the October half term holiday. We were late arriving but the wardens kindly called us to let us know that all our keys etc had been left on a noticeboard by reception for us to collect.
Throughout our stay the wardens couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Offering advice on cycle routes and giving us a free family pass into the Cheddar Gorge caves.
There are no facilities here for children but it is a perfect base for exploring lots of places nearby. Especially if you like a nice walk or cycle.
The facilities that are here were clean and well looked after.
There was some cheering and shouting from Cheddar FC which backs onto the site but it didn't bother us. It all adds to the atmosphere.
Would definitely recommend.
Good location; tired facilities
We spent 2 nights on this site in our motorhome at the end of August. The access road is narrow so it's important not to arrive early. It was our first time on this site, although we have previously stayed on the neighbouring commercial site.
On arrival we received a very warm welcome and found an excellent pitch at the rear of the site.
The facilities were disappointing. Tired and as others have pointed out in need of upgrading. This was the first time we have seen mould on the ceiling of shower cubicles on a club site, although the rest of the facilities were clean.
The site is within easy walking distance of the village, including the local supermarkets and the gorge. The gorge itself was disappointing. At the end of August, in school holidays, much to our surprise the area looked very run down with some businesses closed. We had lunch at the Riverside and can recommend the "sharing ploughman's" for very good value, although the service there can best be described as "diffident"
We won't be tempted back to the area anytime soon
Good Location
As the title says the site is handily placed, not only for the Gorge and the town itself but to get to the other well known places such as Wells, Glastonbury, Weston-super-Mare etc. There are buses that will take you those directions so its good for motorhomes. It's also good for dog walking and cycling.
What of the site itself? Great if you like your sites and units pitched like wagon trains. 2 main circles with the bigger one having vunerable units in the middle in case of attack by the Injuns. The ones in the middle have grass pitches. Not sure what the club will do with these when its open all year. Some of the pitches have large trees hanging ovef them and it is impossible to avoid pitching underneath them. We were lucky and just had a large hedge which was very welcome to stave off the strong westerlies. Others back onto a hedge which separates the club from the local football ground. Some noise can be expected on game days but its not Premier League stuff. The road noise is not intrusive. The site entrance is very poor and needs much better placement. Do not arrivd before time as you may be embarrassed by having to reverse the 100 yards or so around a blind bend.
The sanitation block is showing its age. The 4 cubicles, more really needed, are old and small. Water pressure is poor especially in one or two of the toilets. The water emptying point for the Motorhomes is right in front of the exit barrier. A silly place to put it as it can cause delays when the next unit exiting also wants to use it!
All in all an ok site but needs some maintenance on shower block, overhanging trees and emptying point for M/Hs.
