We stayed here recently with our children to visit the caves. The wardens were excellent and the site was clean and friendly - the location is perfect for exploring cheddar and very family friendly. We’ll definitely be back.
Motorhome stay for 3 nights - Perfect base 5 star
Very warm welcome, though I didn't get to know either of the site hosts (why are they still called wardens - aren't they in prisons? ) I heard from a number of other "campers" on how friendly, helpful and engaging they were.
We reversed in on a pitch that backed onto the football ground we were warned there would be a bit of noise on the Saturday as Cheddar were playing Chard - I christened this game the "cheese salad" derby. It didn't spoil my afternoons cuppa...in fact it was quite entertaining hearing the one man and his dog cheering the goals and the players discussing refereeing decisions. We had a hard standing and full sun for most of the day on our awning side.
The site is a short walk into Cheddar village and 20 mins walk into Cheddar Gorge. The Cider Barn* is a 15 minute walk from site heading out to the right (twds Wells) but there is no pavement - a taxi cost us £8,
An unmissable site - just wish it was open all year. Why isn't it?
Superb little gem
This was a one night stop over on the way down to the South West. As we like the longer journeys to be part of the holiday we took an opportunity to arrive fairly early at the site and take in local area. A lovely little place with very helpful wardens who welcomed us heartily after a long drive. The site was quiet, well kept with beautifully clean facilities and well placed for a delightful walk into Cheddar with the dogs. We were furnished with details of the walks and the local supermarkets as well as a nice place for some well earned dinner with the dogs in tow at a local pub. Now we have found it we will be back for a longer stay as it really is a little gem!
Good location
The site entrance is easily missed, especially if you're amongst a lot of lorries who want to get on, and we overshot it coming out of Cheddar because the directions in the site directory say the entrance is behind the football club. It would be better to say before the football club. That said we found it to be a good site. It's an easy walk to Cheddar and the gorge to see the sights and there's a nice dog friendly pub that does good food. The layout of the site is rather plain and it's true about the noisy football club, but the noise didn't go on late and didn't bother us. Overall, it's a good site.
Great site but
We had a great welcome even though we were later then anticipated, the toilets are clean as always in club sites, the local pub the bath inn is excellent for food and local beer(a little pricey)
But the site is parallel to a football club and they have loud music there,on this night someone took to the microphone singing songs at very high volume,if possible stay on the other side of the field, but apart from that we had a great weekend
Made to feel very unwelcome when delayed despite ringing ahead
We were delayed arriving but rang ahead and gave an estimate and were told just let us know if it changes and will be after 8pm.
So that’s what we did. We arrived exactly when we said we would, at half past six. The wardens also knew we had had a 7 hour drive instead of a four hour drive, however they showed they could t care less.
When we arrived, before I could even say Hello I was admonished for “putting the wrong phone number” on my booking. We had a pitch map shoved at us with a key for the toilet and were told, quite rudely, to pay in the morning.
I checked our booking immediately and found it had the correct telephone number on it, I checked this immediately but by then the office was closed and the wardens had gone to their vans.
Never been treated like this at a Caravan club site before.
The toilets also had “an unpleasant stench” as per my ten year old.
Only saving grace is we are only here for a night.
What a shame.
Not impressed
Not for me a site that represents the Club that well. The entrance approach does look good and inviting... the Palm Trees framing the entrance are the best part. Pass thru the barrier and you are faced with two long rows of caravans on pitches that look tired, more like a storage facility than a relaxing holiday space. True there are some very good pitches and if the site is not too busy you may be lucky. Facilities clean but again rather tired. Location is ideal for exploring not just Cheddar but the surrounds. The walk into the village is good and two Supermarkets are right there for you. Likewise a walk along the river side gives you a hint of the levels that Somerset is famous for as well as giving your dog some where to stretch its legs. I am glad we were there for only 4 days. Sadly not a site we will be back too

Good location, basic facilities
The location of this site is excellent. Easy walking distance into town and a lovely walk along the river which my children and dogs enjoyed playing in.
Site itself is fairly basic. Hard standing pitches are good size however grass pitches are a bit squashed. Showers are clean but small, could do with modernising. Baby and toddler room is well equipped and nicely kept.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

Busy
Nice site, toilet block a bit dated and quite small, the main issue is the fact that Wardens were seemingly invisible on the site other than in the office or when clearing refuse.
I don't understand why wardens do not enforce their stated rules about parking units adjacent to the pitch marker. The unit next to us was no where near the marker and this was apparent throughout the site, plus in the afternoon there was a caravan hitched up to a car and diagonal on its pitch clearly with the view to a quick getaway the following morning.
We did not see any Wardens walking around the site doing checks, this led to some very noisy areas.
Just be nice to see Wardens enforcing the club rules

Lovely well run site.
We have stayed on this site before and both times we enjoyed our stay. The welcome on booking in was warm and friendly. The site is clean and tidy, the toilet blocks are clean and does it matter that they are a bit elderly? We have dogs and the walk from the site alongside the stream was a delight for them as they could get in and have a paddle and cool off. A lovely site for singles, couples and families (and water loving dogs!).
