great destination

A great place for families. We really enjoyed having our secret gate into the miles of parkland of Chatsworth and being able to walk to our days in the house and garden. Be good to have a better play area for the kids but they still found plenty to do and friends to play with. Great base for exploring the area too.

What a fantastic site! Would we go back? -YES!!!!!

Arrived on Monday 10th, greeted by really friendly & helpful warden. Site was nearly full, pitches quite variable in size, but this is totally overcome by the beautiful location.Brillinat site for walking and cycling and a haven for dogs! (ours could not believe the "secret Garden" beyond the gate at the back of the site, you're given a key to this gate when you arrive and it takes you straight into the grounds of Chatsworth). Full entry to Chatsworth house and gardens costs £22, but is reduced to £14 for Caravan Club members -and is WELL worth a look! Bakewell is a pretty little town though rather busy! Had a lovely scenic drive through the peak District.Highly recommended , Thankyou Chatsworth !!!!

Great place

Lovely stay here. Best part was the access to the grounds at Chatsworth. Everything about the site is excellent. The only problem for us was that the walk to the toilet block seemed a long way from where our pitch was. We thought a couple of short cuts could possibly be implemented to overcome this. Otherwise it was lovely

Brilliant, again

In my humble opinion this is the best located site in the network. Chatsworth Park just outside the gate, Baslow a short walk away, and numerous Derbyshire delights a short drive. The site is well wardened, and kept to the best of club standards. My only gripe, dogs barking, one in particular every time another one walked past. I have owned a dog, and I don't want to start a dog owner v non dog owner debate but please don't let your pet ruin other peoples holidays.

another great visit

Had another great weekend here (7th Aug-9th Aug) ,the staff/wardens and 100% better than the last time we came ,so friendly and approachable and the shop must be the best on the whole caravan club  network  the toilets are so clean ,with no mess or a cobweb in sight ,and we didn't have to wait for the showers etc especially when this site was so full when we came this weekend A must is the Chatworth grounds ,which will cater for all tastes and if you have some spare money left over  visit the farm shop at Pilsley or should i say credit card !!!   . This site is well looked after, but some pitches can be on the dark side due to the trees ,but a small price to pay  . We walked part of the Monsal trail from Hassop  ,which is great if you like a nice steady walk and a lovely view from Monsal viaduct . i would recommend this site ,if you are lucky  to get a booking !! ( SO BOOK EARLY) and you will not be disappointed. Baslow is a small walk away and has some nice shops and a few pubs . Overall gold stars Happy

Location, location

The site is lovely, the staff are friendly, the facilities are excellent BUT it is also very popular, crowded and noisy. The only available hard standing standard pitch with awning was 7.0m wide - you do the maths but IMHO - this is not wide enough when it is hard against a hedge on one side and only 1.0m to the next pitch on the other. BUT all is forgiven when you unlock the walled garden gate and enter the park - gorgeous, especially first thing in the morning and at dusk.

Charming Chatsworth!

Just returned from a four night stay ( wish we could have stayed longer) nothing much to say that hasn't been said, great site, lovely location, immaculately kept by extremely pleasant helpful wardens. Even though the site was full it didn't seem crowded, not waiting for showers etc. Loved the key for the gate to access the parkland and to walk around almost on your own when day visitors have left, stunning.  The 1pm arrival time is well managed by the wardens, it seems that all new arrivals arrive at that time, so due to access has to be carefully managed. Visited Bakewell show which we can recommend a great proper agricultural show.  We were very lucky with the weather, but want to return to visit the park in other seasons, I would think Autumn with the huge trees will be stunning.

A lovely site for all.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at Chatsworth and it is still a little beauty in the clubs profile. We arrived on Friday evening and after a friendly greeting from the. Staff we finished pitching up and were treated to a free fireworks display compliments of the Boy Scout and girl guide movement who were enjoying their jamboree in the fields around the estate. A fine day on Saturday where we walked to the village of Edensor on the estate. A couple of showers in the afternoon kept us near home but didn't dampen our spirits.  The facilities were as usual immaculate and the surroundings were neat and peaceful none of the usual mowing of grass that can sometimes be witnessed on some sites. This is a good site for both walkers and cyclists as you can now cycle on the tarmac roads on the estate, you can cycle or walk for as long or as short as you wish and still get to see loads of attractions along the way. My only negative was the ' laughing hyena ' who was in the awning of the unit next door she could be heard incessantly laughing all evening and into the night, she could even be heard cackling on the dog walk- either she was being tickled to death or was easily amused! Please remember all you say and do in your awnings can be heard by others. I would love to return to this site but it is so hard to get weekend availability.
